Which is better for a child who is a beginner swimmer, and does not like thrills. he likes the slide at POR and is too tall for the kiddie areas which are for kids under 48inches at water parks.
Interested in some slides similar to POR, lazy river, waves (although sounds like Typhoon waves may be a bit too intense).

Lastly, is Goofy at BB only??? And is he always there or just sometimes?
Going first week in May.
THANK YOU!

When my boys were smaller, they much preferred BB. They now prefer TL as they like the wave pool and the gushing coasters.

thank you……The ski patrol training camp area looks like it might be a good fit. Are parents allowed in that area at all?

Any other thoughts on BB vs TL for somewhat timid beginner swimmer?

I would NOT recommend TL for a beginner swimmer. The main attraction there is the wave pool and those things can be rough even for a good swimmer. Especially when crowded.

BB: more appropriate wave pool and a FAR better family raft ride.

We are planning on going to a Disney water park for the first time this summer and this is different from everything I have read. What I have read said that Typhoon Lagoon is more for families and younger children while Blizzard Beach was more for teens and thrill seekers. Now I am really confused and not sure of our decision.

Both parks have lots of rides/attractions for younger children. When my DD was 5 she loved both parks and she really loved the wave pool at TL. She would stand in the shallow part and shriek and laugh every time there was a wave. Also, there are the bay slides right there on the left side of the wave pool that are perfect for 4-9 year olds.

It will be summer time, and the water park option is so inexpensive to add to your tickets. I would add that option and then try both. You may find yourself at waterparks for a part of every day because it will be HOT. My DD is 8 now and actually prefers TL to MK now, she just loves the water.

Agreed. The family raft ride is awesome!!! TL wave pool will really knock the kids down or you stand on the edges, but I don't see a point in that when you can enjoy the BB wave pool with gentle rolling waves. You can also do the lazy river together and there is Runoff Rapids tube ride that two can ride together so he could enjoy that with one of you. We always do several rounds on the lazy river. He could possibly enjoy some other slides on the rafts, just send him between you so there is a parent waiting at the end. Snow Stormers is a popular one with smaller kids and the Toboggan Racers the end does not end in water so that one is great fun.

In the Ski Patrol they do let parents go on the two tube slides, small but enjoyable. The rest you can not go in/on but can be right there watching him and taking pictures.

He'll get a kick out of the cartoon theme all over. It's really fun, colorful and upbeat! I have never seen a character at either water park. They do offer free life jackets if he becomes uncomfortable.
