On our trip in 2009 I got horrible blisters (8 of them). I wore the shoes I had been wearing everyday on the treadmill, used Body Glide and wore the good socks.

Just got home this week and again by the 2nd day I had blisters all over my feet. This time I wore my Keens that I had been wearing all summer. I love them and never had any problems all summer. Even wore them 3 days in a row at another theme park with no issues. When I started to get the blisters I switched to my tennis shoes that I have been wearing and got more blisters. By the 4th day of a 10 day trip I could hardly walk. I came home with a total of 11 blisters this time. I used Body Glide again and the good socks.

I don't know what else to try. It was awful. We don't go back until 2013 but I really don't want this to happen again. Please, if you have any ideas to try or suggestions please let me know. I think I would rather not go then to go through that again. I also had really bad heel pain. I was in tears everynight.

I haven't tried this at Disney but have been using a product from Lanacaine for chafing with all of my sandals this summer and can't believe how much more comfortable they are. It is a gel product and a little goes a long way, feels kind of silky going on and lasts all day. It is in a yellow tube.

Band-Aid makes a blister block product that's like a spongy band-aid that is enclosed on all sides that you put on your feet where you tend to get blisters. I used to use them when I was breaking in new dance shoes and my mom, who gets horrible blisters has used them in the past and the worked wonders for protecting against blisters.

I've worn them both on my feet, and in the inside of my shoes. If you're going to wear them in your shoes, particularly on the backs of the heels if that's where they rub, I'd recommend not sliding your feet into them if possible- untie the shoes and then put your feet in. It will keep the blocks on for longer.

The nex-care clear band-aids that have the pad in the middle and then the clear sticky part all around the outside are also a big help when you have blisters. They're relatively water-resistant and will stay on to help protect the blisters you may get. Hope this helps! I get bug bites like you get blisters at Disney- I feel your pain!

When I played tennis in school, the trainer had people who were prone to blisters wear two pair of thin socks. He said the friction would be sock to sock instead of sock to foot. It did work for my roommate. Hope this helps.

The band aid blister block that the PP mentioned does work really well. We have also used moleskin for blister problems. I tend to get "hot spots" on the balls of my feet and have used both products and both worked. I also have a pair of socks that wick away moisture. I wear them under a regular pair of socks. I think that my husband purchased the wick away kind at a local backpacking store. These work great too! They are thin and don't feel bulky at all under my other socks.

As for the heel pain, I have this too...had it for years. I have plantar fascitis. I have orthotic inserts and pain meds that I take. I have no idea if you have this or not but I completely understand being in tears over foot pain. Visit a podiatrist and they should be able to tell you for sure.

Good luck!

There has to be alot of tricks people use so .......more please:idea:

You can't wear thin socks and the absolute best thing is to have athletic shoes that are a good fit. I have never, ever gotten blisters when wearing socks and athletic shoes and we wear pedometers and walk at least 10 miles/day at WDW. I also walk 4 miles per day for exercise and my feet are fine.

This issue has more to do with improper shoe fitting than the socks you wear.

I love my Keens but would never wear them all day long in the parks. They do rub some and I know I would get blisters.

I'd suggest going to a good shoe store-walking shoe store in particular and get measured for a good fit.

I've never owned a pair of athletic shoes, even those that were fitted at a high end store, that wouldn't have caused me a few blisters. I think it's great that some people can find shoes that fit their feet, but the fact is that shoe manufacturers make shoes for the majority, not the minority, and there will be some of us who have foot types that don't fit the mold. If you don't ever get blisters, you're lucky; enjoy it; but don't think that some of us who do haven't spent a lot of time and money trying to avoid blisters.

I have what is supposedly a "native" foot, except I have super long toes, which I don't think is the norm. Very wide, very high arch and a sort of "bump" of bone above the arch.

I discovered this year that my Tom's, which I bought in men's sizes, were perfect. I wore them every day on our Disney trip (and I am a full bore commando) and didn't get one single blister. There isn't a lot of cushioning underneath, but there is a nice arch for support on the inside and the shoes are deconstructed to the point that they fit every foot. I probably put more stress on my legs (I took aleve every morning for leg aches!) not having that cushioning, but it was worth it not to have any blisters! I think the key was in having a pair of shoes that weren't overly constructed and that molded to my foot.

I wore my Columbia sandals, which are designed to have no pressure points and still got a blister that one day on the side of my big toe! Those shoes are still constructed and designed to what the manufacturer thinks my foot should be like. The Toms just molded to my real foot instead, so no blisters!

I wore my tennis shoes on our last trip. After a few days I noticed a few "hot spots" where blisters were starting to develop. I had brought some thin moisture wicking socks, but those didn't seem to help. I had brought my running gear along (hoping to get in a run or 2, but that didn't happen) so I put on a pair of my thicker moisture wicking socks. My initial thought was that I didn't want to wear the thick socks in FL - they would be hot! My feet didn't seem any warmer than when I was wearing either of the thinner socks - any my blisters were basically gone after wearing them one day. I didn't have any sign of blisters after 2 days.

We are getting ready to go again in a few weeks, and I will be bringing my thicker moisture wicking socks with me. I will also bring my Keens, but I know my thicker socks and tennis shoes will be comfortable.

(If anyone is wondering, my thicker socks are Nike brand that I got from Kohl's). They are about $12 for 3 or 4 pairs. I don't find a need to get the more expensive ones from the running stores.

I left this out of my first post but I also had a problem of my feet swelling. It was so bad my shoes would barely go on. I have never had that happen before. So it was a combination of blisters, heel pain and swelling that got me down. I only have a couple of blisters left on my feet now and I can see my ankle bones again!

Try wearing flip flops (Crocs)...no rubbing and thick rubbler sole. I wore them for 8 days and didn't have any problems.

Hi
I always used to get blisters, so I really feel bad for you. I've worn Crocs Scutes in the past and they are so comfortable, but a little bulky looking. So now I've switched to Crocs Modi Flip Flop. They are so comfortable, and cushiony. I never get blisters anymore. You can check them out on the Crocs website. They have a lot of stylish Crocs now. Also, Shoebuy carries them with free shipping and free return. I hope you have good luck finding something comfortable.

For starters I'd head to the podiatrist and get your feet checked out. I did and now have shoe inserts. I no longer have heel pain when I go to WDW.

When it's hot, I found Teva Tirra shoes work great for me, when it's cold out, it's New Balance Tennis shoes. It took me years to find the right shoes that work with my feet.

When I wear the tennis shoes, I have a nice thick moisture wicking running sock that I wear. I think it's the same nice Nike ones that an earlier poster mentioned. I got mine at Kohls too.

I also use body glide on my feet and carry band aid blister block bandaids so if I do get a hotspot on my feet, I put that on it and it doesn't develop into blisters.

For swelling, I put my feet up during our afternoon breaks and soak my feet and ankles in the tub at the end of the evening in epson salts. My hands swell up too but the swelling on those goes away as I sleep each night.

Also, I do not get a pedicure for 2 months before the trip. I want those callouses on my feet for WDW walking.

Sorry this is so long!

Blisters are from multiple problems and the solution depends on where you get the blister. If it is at the achilles, forget about the bandaids on you heal, but them across the back of the shoe (from inside the shoe to out) that makes a very slick surface to slide across. If it is the ball of the foot DO NOT wear a sock with cotton, the threads are tearing you up. If it is the sides of the foot then your shoe is too small, or just not a good brand for you. If it is between the toes then use the tiny bandaids to wrap around every other toe. I did a breast cancer walk this year that was a marathon and a half over 2 days and have had all of these blisters. Also, after about 10 miles the average foot wil swell to one shoe size larger, start out with a shoes too big and you will not end the day with a shoe that is too small.

I had them all over. I had some right below my big toe, several on the bottoms of my toes and a few on the back of my heels. I didn't get them from the straps of my Keens these were all on the bottom of my feet (except the huge on on my heel and I think that one came because of my foot swelling and then having to walk on the outside edge of the shoe). I have already thought about getting a 1/2 size bigger on my Keens and see what happens.

I would see a doctor. If you have not had foot swell in the past. I would also reccomend going to a good shoe store (one that does medical prescriptions) and getting a properly fit shoe. They may have to order them.

I also never wear the same pair of shoes two days in a row. I alternate between my crocs, athletic and sandals.

dont stop at half a size bigger. I went a whole size larger and at the end of 10 miles they fit just fine. If you are prone to swelling anyway just go shoe shopping at the end of the day when they are swollen. Must get socks without cotton in them, they cost a fortune (I paid about $12 for one pair of good socks) but I sure save in bandaids. all blisters are from friction, you just have to figure out what two things, or skin folds are rubbing together and separate them.

Try thick Thorlox socks. I have very small feet and get a lot of blisters sometimes even just after a long day at the mall. The last time I went to Disney I brought one pair of these socks and a really good pair of sneakers & wore them the first day. The next day I wore thin athletic socks and ended up with a couple of blisters. That night (and every night thereafter) I washed my Thorlox socks and no problems with blisters the rest of the week. If my feet got hot during the day I would bring a pair of flip flops and just change into those for about an hour to give my feet a break, then back into my sneakers. Worked great. Just bought 5 new pairs for my trip next week. I would also switch sneakers occasionally (2 different brands) if we went back to the hotel & were then going back to the parks at night.

I haven't tried it for amusement park walking or athletic-type shoes, but I am in love with Bliss Stick, made by Foot Petals and found in the shoe section at Target. I used this stuff several times a day last week while in Europe for work (traipsing over cobblestones in heels every day was a sure recipe for ouch!). I kept it in my purse and reapplied throughout the day, and I could instantly feel the difference in friction after applying it to trouble spots. It comes in a small, black deodorant-type tube, and I found it on an end-cap in the shoe section.
