What's the name of the blister stuff people always say to buy in case of blisters? I am wondering just in case I get one, AND to prevent them. Is it the moleskin stuff?? I saw this at wal mart the other day and was thinking that was what people have mentioned to use, but I couldn't remember for sure. I also saw some bandaid brand medicated blister band aid things but they were almost four dollars for six or something. Again, I didn't want to spend the money until I asked around the boards.
thanks.

Moleskin is definitely a must. You can find it in the health/beauty section with all of the Dr. Scholls stuff at Walmart, Target, CVS...pretty much anywhere.

Another thing I use that helps prevent blisters is called Body Glide. I get it at Dick's Sporting Goods...it kinds of looks like deodorant. You put it on the places that generally get hot spots and it will hopefully prevent blisters before they start.

Thanks for the quick reply. Now do you put the molesking on everyday to prevent, or is it for when you actually do get a blister? Also, do you need to reapply the body glide? Im just wondering if I will need to carry it with me in my bag.

I used the bodyglide on our 10 day trip last November, I applied it to my feet in the mornings and did not have to reapply. I did not get one blister. I love the stuff.

I second the bodyglide, I used it on my feet and it was great. Did it once in the morning and that was it for the day, no blisters.

No, I use the Body Glide to prevent hot spots, but should you get one, then use the moleskin. I toss the Body Glide in my bag so if I get sweaty or wet or if I missed a spot I can address it in the park.

You are suppose to use moleskins on the hot spot areas before you get a blister but I will admit that I also used it over a blister. It worked.

I also use Bodyglide and I haven't needed to use the moleskins.

I use Band Aid Blister Blocker stick and it works amazing! I've never had any issues, and it's always stopped blisters in the making. It makes my feet a lot dirtier by the end of the day because it's almost balmy, but it's definitely a must-pack. I carry it to the parks every day.

Hypercare is a prescription anti-perspirant used for excessive sweating. I get a bottle before every trip. Applied for 2 weeks before your trip (then you quit applying it), it will keep your feet from sweating during your trip.

No sweating feet, no blisters. Plus it is nice to have dry feet.

Moleskin if you have a blister already.

Do NOT put moleskin ON a blister, instead put it in your shoe in the area of the blister or cut a piece large enough to make a "donut" to put over the blister.

I take the moleskin in the parks with me, some times they dont stay put.

A moleskin donut is used to protect the blister once formed to keep it from popping. Using it before hand is just another layer to help prevent friction. Good fitting shoes and good socks should be much better than using moleskin willy nilly. Or use body glide as other PP's mentioned to keep the friction from causing the blister.

I have used the body glide for preventing thigh rash but not for prevention of blisters.
I always carry a few 1x2" precut pieces of moleskin, it is a real lifesaver when your at the parks and you start feeling that hotspot on your foot. I do put some on the bottom of my feet right behind my toes as a preventative to blisters since this is the area that usually does not outlast all that walking.
It works great and easy to find.

I bought my body glide at drugstore.com since I could not find it locally.

I always carry the following with me:
Band-aid blister stick
Blister Band-aids
Mole Skin

I never have any issues.
