DAY TWO: Magic Kingdom

We didn’t make it to early entry. My family was so slow this morning, especially the kids. We didn’t have to long a wait for the bus and we were off to the Magic Kingdom. As much as we wanted to follow Tour Guide Mike’s advise, there was no way we were getting the kids past the characters at the front of the park and well, this was their trip so we decided to go with the flow. We had a lot of fun seeing Cruella, Gov. Jay RatCliffe, Sleeping Beauty & Aladdin. Then we went and rode the Carousel and It’s A Small World. The song stuck with the kids and on several occasions during the rest of our trip, they could be overheard singing it in the stroller – a very sweet memory.

Then we decided to see Ariel. This was our longest wait of the week (about 25 mins) and it was very hot. But the kids were happy to see her, especially dd as Ariel is one of her favorites.

Then we got a FP for Pooh’s ride, rode Peter Pan’s ride, did the tea cups ride, met Alice and the Mad Hatter ( a dream come true as ds5 considers Alice his girlfriend). Then we needed to find a Peter Pan hat for ds as he had seen another boy with one on. We found one in Tinkerbell’s Treasures shop and got to see Tink flying around in there.

Then it was off to lunch at Cinderella’s Castle. We got very lucky and Cinderella was on her throne in the castle when we arrived. DD was soooo excited to meet and hug her. Our lunch was very good – dh’s favorite meal of the whole trip. He had the pasta special dish and I had the Major Domos pie. Of course, it is beautiful in the restaurant so we had a wonderful time. Then back out to ride Pooh’s ride. Then we met up with Snow White and met her and got her autograph.

Now here is where our day took an ugly turn. The kids both wanted to go in the Haunted Mansion. If only I had listened to my mother’s instinct to tell them “no”! They were fine until we went into the room where it gets completely dark. When the lights went out, several folks around us started to scream (playfully) and both kids freaked. When we started moving towards the ride itself, I flagged down a CM and asked for a way out. He instructed us to go back down the line we just came thru and go out a side door. As we made our way to the side door, I turned around to look at dh carrying dd and note that she is covered in blood as is dh. Apparently dd had her face so tightly buried in dh’s shoulder that she got a nosebleed. So, we get into the escape corridor and try to get the nosebleed stopped. It took quite a while. A CM brought us a towel as we were running out of Kleenex, etc.. It still wouldn’t stop, so I knew we needed some ice, so out the door we go to head to the nearest restaurant. You should have seen how scared those kids in line looked when they saw us exit with dd & dh with blood all over their shirts. We were able to get some ice and get the nosebleed stopped, as well as get most of the blood cleaned off them. What an ordeal!!

The parade was getting ready to start, so we found a spot. The kids really enjoyed it. They both were pulled into the parade to play a game with the lost boys from Peter Pan. Belle blew dd a kiss from her snowglobe which just made dd’s day. After the parade, we went to see the Country Bear Jamboree. Dd loved it. Ds & dh both fell asleep and got a little nap in. Then we took the train to Toontown. We had to leave our stroller at the train entrance and were told to pick up another when we got off the train. So we did. However, dh didn’t get it open completely and as we were heading to Mickey’s house, the stroller collapsed. Oh my gosh, what a fright. It closed completely with both of them in it – only their feet were sticking out. I immediately jerked it open and they were no worse for the wear, but I was starting to think the day was doomed. We had a lot of fun at Mickey’s house. It was getting time to need to leave to make our PS for Ohana’s. We wanted to stay in Toontown a little longer, so I sent dh to call to try to change the PS and took the kids to meet with Pooh, Eeyore, & Tigger. They loved meeting them and dd encouraged Tigger to bounce with them. The magic was back. Unfortunately we could only get the PS changed until 20 minutes later, so we headed back to the train and hit the monorail to the Poly.

Dinner at Ohana’s was yummy. The kids ate pretty well. They liked the rice and vegetables and ate some of the meats too. Our server, Edward, was very good. The kids did the broom & coconut game twice and they loved that. On our trip back to the Magic Kingdom, we were able to ride with the monorail driver. What a great experience and awesome view. We all got co-pilot licenses which will go in the kids’ scrapbooks.

We headed back to the room and decided to head out to Downtown Disney. We did a little shopping. The kids each got a balloon ball. We also left them each pick out a Christmas ornament, dd picked out Ariel and her Prince & ds picked Donald. I got a beautiful ornament with Coronado Springs on it and a boxed set of ornaments. Then we went to Once Upon A Toy and got some Mr. Potato Head parts. Then back to our room to crash for the night.

I tried a few times to follow our books advice ....but nope...didnt' work......the cms are unbelievable.......granddaughter had sun block in her eyes and they took her to first care....then grandson had a metal piece out of his braces....and they had the goop to fix it......thanks so much for your report.......

Wonderful trip reports ~ Thanx for sharing.

Great trip report! I really appreciate everyone who takes the time to post them. Quick question.........you got to see Carousel of Progess? Do they now have it open continually because of the close of Alien Encounter? Please reply..........is there a chance I may see it in Nov? I'm so-o-o excited.

No, I am sorry. We rode Cinderella's Carousel, not Carousel Of Progress. I should have been clearer in my post. I remember COP from years ago and it would have been nice to see it again. It was not open when we were there.

Great report so far! I'm sorry your daughter had the nose bleed, but it sounds like the rest of your day was great!

Talk about your highs and lows. HM can get very scary in that dark room, and the stroller collapsing would be very scary with the kids in it. I love reading your reports. My kids are older now and I miss those little eyes seeing everything for the first time, but I can picture it again reading your reports.
