We are staying in a two bedroom villa December 7-12th. HH villas are already "booked". I have two five year olds, my DH and my mom that will be with me. I was hoping for some building recommendations for those of you really familiar with OKW as this will be out first stay.
TIA!

Me, too! July, 1bdrm. Not really concerned about closeness to HH, just want a great view.

Sorry for piping in. I've never been there so I do not have any suggestions for you.

Our favorites are 15, 16, 17, and 18 for awesome golf views and convenience to the HH.

I used to stay at OKW at the time. It's one of my favorite resorts next to AKV.
The best buildings to be close to the HH, which I find necessary if I stay there as I don't rent a car are bldgs 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 62, 63, 64 and 23 is an okay distance.
I would assume that bldgs 11-14 are definitely HH area, but if any of the others aren't I'd request one of those bldgs, especially 62-64 as though are the next closest after 11-14.
I also believe that 62-64 have elevators which is really nice if you have little ones and have a stroller as it's a pain to lug it up 2-3 flights of stairs every time!

Great thing about OKW is its peaceful feel and quietness, views are pretty similar, though you may get a water or golf view out your back porch. If I wanted a 2 bed near HH and HH area was booked, I would ask for Millers Rd.

We ask for top floor, golf course view...love the views and quiet from the top floor and we always manage to drag the stroller up the stairs as we feel its worth it! Is a quiet pool a must? If so, 19 is right across the street from the bus stop and the balcony over looks the pool.

Being near HH isn't really necessary since all buses stop there on their way out of the way out of resort. Plus, we don't find walking distances to HH much different than walking the hallways of AKV or BWV, and the view is better outdoors than in a hallway. :rotfl:

Our favorite buildings (non-HH) are those along Miller's Road (esp. 15, 16, 18 , 19 20) and the canal buildings (45, 46, 55, 56). All of those have great views and are easy walking distance to HH if you don't want to take a bus. 45 and 46 are a little farther from the bus stop though. Buildings 15 and 16 are very convenient, because if you see the bus for a park you want heading over to the Miller's bus stop, you can walk to HH and get on there by the time the bus arrives at HH.

I agree with Diane on all counts, I think people stress way too much about the distance to HH, since all buses do go there!

We always book 2bd and have enjoyed wonderful views at 15 (near but not in HH), 45, 46 and countless other villas!

We also enjoy 42,43 because of their proximity to Turtle Pond snack bar, BQ grills and quiet pool

We don't mind the 3rd floor, but without elevators I don't know if I'd tackle it with 2 5's olds!

I'm a big fan of buildings 23-26. Easy access to HH through the back, right next to the Penninsular Road bus stop, and with nice golf course and water views. I think they're as great as the 11-14 buildings and not in nearly as high of a demand so you're more likely to actually get your request.

I think 23-26 are considered HH buildings, which are not available for the OP's visit, although these are in a great location. 27 and 28 are not HH buildings and have the same ammenities as described for 23-26, they are just a minute or two farther walk from the HH.

Hmmm, when I booked our trip the specific HH buildings weren't available so I was actually advised to request 23-26. I was under the impression it was only those buildings immediately in front of HH that count. I'll have to look into it and make sure.

27, 28, 29 have bad views, there are trees practically on your porch.

I called to check and was definitely wrong. 23-26 are indeed preferred HH buildings. Sorry about the confusion.

We were there in Dec/Jan and stayed in 62. It's right across the street from HH and had elevators. At night we could see fireworks from Epcot. Our room had both a golf course and a water view. I couldn't have been happier.

HH booking category has always been buildings 11-14 and 23-26.

So now I want building 62. Which floor and room were you on? I'm not sure how to best go about requesting. Call ahead? Check-in online? Wait until we show up?

Here is a coded map of OKW. HH units are outlined in blue.

This topic always makes me chuckle.....but I always feel compelled to put my 2 cents in, as they say. ;)

Makes me chuckle because I think all of the buildings (with the exception of 29 bottom floor studio in the corner) all are good places to be. They all offer a good/decent view of something relaxing, all the rooms look the same once you are in them, and none of the buildings are that far away from at least 1 of the pools. Also, everyone has their favorite building for different reasons so you will always get a multitude of answers...you see what I am sayin' (as we say in RI) :goodvibes

With that said, with 2, 5 year olds any of the buildings near Turtle pond should do you just fine. My favorite area. :thumbsup2

Well, our trip is long over, but we had an amazing room with a view! I'm going to see if I ca find the room number to share. It was very close to HH, had an elevator, and a gorgeous view. Will let you know when I find it, and will also post a photo.
