DH and I decided on the spur of the moment fo drive over to EPCOT yesterday but couldn't get there. Traffic was backed up on I-4 all the way to Haines City! We exited and went sight seeing instead. Anyone else having trouble recently getting there? We'd been going pretty steadily since before Christmas and having little or no trouble at all. :worried:

Coming from a rural area, we feel that the traffic in Orlando is always bad/busy and you can't get around it! Is it warming up down there and the tourists are making there way back in increasing numbers?

Aww, I'm sorry. :(

Yeah, you better be! *You* are gonna be stuck in it soon!!!! :rotfl2:

And mtblujeans, you're probably right...it is warming up and probably more tourists than we're used to (recently) are out in record numbers. Add that to continued construction and you get a real mess! :crazy2:

Plus it is President's Weekend and the resorts are close to capacity. Ah well, at least you were warmer than 3 degrees :p

Does the construction EVER end down there???? :(

President's weekend, and the Daytona race -- that is the answer -- that is why I no longer go to that area this time of year -- been there done that --
(grew up 1 hour away from WDW and go back throughout the year quite often--never again on pres. weekend)

I went to WDW yesterday. We come up the turnpike and then shoot over on the Oceola Parkway. As we passed over I-4 it looked like there was an accident and the traffic was backed up for miles. Traffic is always bad around there though.

I just returned from Mexico City on Friday. I have never seen traffic and driving like that in my life. Unbelievable.

Oh yeah, completely forgot about the race! Definitely added tons of traffic to the already bad mess with construction. And no, the construction *never* ends. Never! :( :scratchin Thinking maybe we should look into getting a helicopter!

Have never been to Mexico City myself, but it sounds like traffic problems in Italy. DH spent time there for his work a few years ago. He said "might makes right" over there. In other words, whoever can push and shove and knock others aside can be 1st. That goes with driving as well as counter service in banks, airport lines etc. He was shocked when at 4 way stops newly arriving cars would pull around *already stopped* cars and blast ahead! No rules (apparently) to follow. Dangerous as can be but nobody batted an eye!

It is interesting that you would point this out! I drive a Suburban because we live in the country and sometimes we need 4WD to get home. Lately, I have had people coming at me with Neo's....like they could really get me to move faster by driving so aggressively in those little, tiny cars! I am just in awe over what is happening on the roads anymore!! I can't imagine people being that aggressive in person....or I don't want to imagine it!! :worried:

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Traffic doesn't bother me much. I grew up in Southern CA traffic, only to trade it with San Francisco traffic. I guess I like to move from one traffic area to another. :crowded:

doesn't surprise me if Florida is really crowded right now considering how cold it is all over. we all need some sunshine and warmth. I'd give anything if I could be out by you right now. :worship:

DD and I drove home to Orlando from Tallahassee yesterday. I couldn't believe the number of campers and RVs on I75 and the Florida Turnpike. I didn't realize until we got home that this was the race weekend. Now, it makes perfect sense.
