Blanket Stitch question

Hello. I am not a very good sewing person at all. I want to make some felt animal ornaments for our tree for next year. I was thinking I would stitch the two halves together using the blanket stitch. So my question is: Can I do that or is the blanket stitch more for just a finishing stitch? Thanks!

Since you are using felt, a blanket stitch will work fine for the stitching itself. If you are stuffing the ornaments, make sure your to keep your stitches to about 1/4 inch in length. (You can use a smaller stitch if you prefer.) If you're not stuffing them, you can go with almost any length you'd like for your desired look.

Other types of fabric would require a regular stitch and then the blanket stitch for finishing.

Good Luck with your project.

Jenn
