I have Verizon Wireless and I'm thinking of upgrading to a Blackberry Storm. Does anyone out there have one ? Thoughts ???

My cube mate at work has had his for a week and loves it. He had a voyager prior to that and says that the storm blows it away. I was playing around with it today and I must admit it was pretty cool. I love tech things, so I would go for it. I just ordered a bbry curve last night. I just couldn't spring for the storm. Maybe next time! You can go on the verion website and read reviews. I find that helpful.

I have it and use it for business stuff and e-mail fairly heavily. I really like it but there are those who don't. If you send like 50 e-mails a day on it and are a previous blackberry user I would suggest and different blackberry. If you are looking for a phone that you can write some (not 50) e-mails and receive them on, listen to music, surf the internet, and keep your life organized you'll be very happy with it. It all depends what you're looking for.

If you have any questions specifically please feel free to PM me, I've had the phone since release day so I have a good amount of experience with it.

I'm basically looking for an iphone alternantive.
ATT wireless service in my area is horrible , so switching from Verizon Wireless to ATT is not an option :sad2:

I am not a heavy e-mailer or texter. I do like being able to get the web and Facebook on my phone :)

Should be good for you than....and it is pretty easy to put music on it...I have 16 gb micro sd card in mine (got it for like $55) and can put almost my entire music collection on it. It comes free with a 8 gb.

It is just now starting to get more games etc on it. It has weather programs like the iphone. The internet is comparable or just slightly sub-par to the iphone, but the e-mail features are superior. There is also a facebook application for it, or facebook mobile over the browser does a great job too. Overall its the best phone on Verizon if you're looking for something iPhone like...and once Verizon releases the next OS update it will be even better.

Let me know if you have other questions

For those on Verizon they are supposed to be getting the iphone in 2010

there's also a rumor of another verizon specific apple device...but 2010 is a long time away

Melissa,

What makes you believe that AT&T's signal is horrible in your area? The reason I ask is because I thought the same thing about my home location in Maine. When I returned there shortly after I purchased the iPhone (I purchased the iPhone in Florida which has great coverage) I found that AT&T has very good coverage in my area in Maine.

I suggest you check AT&T's coverage map. Better yet, go to an AT&T store and tell them your fears. If you do get an iPhone, you have up to 30 days to return it if you aren't happy with it.

Maybe... or maybe not. The whole story is that when Apple first came out with the iPhone, they went to Verizon first. Verizon turned them down because they couldn't come to an agreement with Apple as to how much control they (Verizon) would have over the iPhone.

AT&T's contract with Apple is up in 2010. Apple could continue using AT&T to host the iPhone but if Apple and AT&T can't come to terms, Apple will go shopping for another carrier. It could be Verizon but it also could be another carrier.

When the Storm first came out last fall, I spent several hours typing emails on it (as well as browse the web). I found that after writing several emails, my fingers got tired. I suspect it's because of the click keyboard that Blackberry uses on the Storm. You actually have to press down on the screen until it clicks to get each letter to register. It's not a problem if you write a few short email but if you write many longer emails, you'll feel the strain.

I decided to switch from Verizon (been with them for many many years) and got an iPhone. The iPhone is MUCH easier on the fingers when typing longer emails and notes. On top of that, the iPhone (IMHO) is a far superior phone when compared to anything out there.

I switched from a Voyager to a Storm a little over a month ago. I LOVE IT. It just blows the Voyager away. The only thing I think I would like better would be an iPhone, but like you AT&T sucks around my area. I actually like the "press" touch screen. Keeps you from accidentaly hitting keys. I have a few neat apps and they are starting to come out with more and more. I say go for it!:thumbsup2

I have the Storm and it doesn't make my fingers tired at all. The only reason I suggested that a different blackberry might be better if you send out a lot of e-mail (50+) is that a real keyboard is still faster with typing than any touch screen at this point. Just another person's opinion...

I'm finding with the Storm that people either LOVE it or HATE it :confused3

I read the user reviews on Verizon Wireless's website and mostly everyone hated it :scared1:
I keep reading that Verizon Wireless will be releasing another new Blackberry - with buttons - in a few weeks. I may wait to check that one out as well. I'm due for an upgrade but my current phone works just fine. Luckily , I'm not in a hurry :)

Thanks to everyone for voicing their opinions :flower3:

Yeah there is a definite love/hate with it. A lot of the initial problems are gone but there are still things that people don't like.
