"Black Lives Matter" - it's stupid. Just cut the crap.....

The difference is that police officer didn't have a two week ongoing conversation with that person where he could see for himself the type of person they were based on their own statements and actions. If they a dressed like a thug, talk like a thug, and after 50 pages of discussion and hours of conversation prove that they are indeed a thug based on their own words and actions then I am perfectly ok with him treating them like a thug.... But not killing him. After all, even most thugs don't kill police officers

Thats right the difference is that the cops don't have time to work out what people are reaching for before they shoot, if they do its the cop dead instead. What they do have is training and years on the force dealing with other similar interactions.
So you arent okay with police using deadly force at anytime? Or just against a certain race since it could be deemed racsist?
And as for the bolded again the stats show an officer is 18x more likely to be shot. So more "thugs" are killing police officers than police officers are killing "thugs"

I am talking about a VERY specific group of people on this thread with which I have had significant, personal interactions with from which to base my statement. I am not projecting beliefs on them based on their appearance, they are saying very loud and clear their racist beliefs for themselves. I'm just saying, based on their viewpoints, statements, and posts, it wouldnt be surprising to find they come from a generation and location where many others have shared those same sentiments for a very long time. Speaking of which... You, or anybody else I was referring to, have yet to mention your age or where you're from? Care to?
I hope I'm not someone you're pointing out as racist in this thread, but I am in fact a white middle aged (when did that happen?!) midwestern female. I don't like to paint anyone with the same brush based on geography, skin color, gender, etc. but I can say that my white neighbors are making it hard for me to argue that all white midwesterners aren't racist. Unfortunately, the national conversation is bringing out what I perceive as the worst in many of the people I live next to, who I dearly love otherwise. The part I think is the most insidious is that they feel free to say outrageously racist things at the block BBQ and other open places. I am having a hard time coaching my children through the fact that these are people we love, but that doesn't mean we love everything they do, and having lots of conversations about not stereotyping or judging others by race. My suburb is not very diverse, though not completely homogeneous, so it seems even more difficult to explain to my kids that the things our friends spout aren't truth, because I don't have any close friends of color to hold up as an example.

ETA: I'm sure there were racist feelings and side comments around while I was growing up, but definitely don't recall that at all. My family never made racist comments and said nothing on the rare occasion my sister had a black date or we brought our mutual black friends home. I moved away and now live right back where I was raised and the level of racism (in speech, but can't think of any actions) is unbelieveable to me.

Speaking of police officers, the city of Phoenix has hired its first ever female Chief of Police...who also happens to be African-American. Yay!!

I don't think it is necessary for us to do a roll call stating your age, ethnic background, or where you live.

Joe Arpaio is going to love her.

I am not calling you racist. I appreciate the conversation and dialogue the two of us have had and your contributions to this discussion.

I didn't intend to post again, and may regret this, but I am curious about the response.

Don't know if you were lumping me in with this in your post above, but: 42 year old white woman who grew up in Montreal and have lived in San Diego and D.C.

Does that fit your assumptions, good or bad?

I specifically said physical use of force, not deadly use of force. People of color are, statistically, subject to more use of physical force in police interactions than white people.

Will someone please tell me what a "thug" dresses like? I repeatedly see the phrase, "dressed like a thug" and I am not sure what that is.

Seriously? LOL

Little Wayne comes to mind.

But honestly I think the correct phrase would be "dresses like a gangster" or "dresses gangster" or "gangsta" And its not a term for the way a young black man dresses (although I admit Little Wayne is) because any one of any race can dress that way. Some of the students we have that dress the most this way are Asian. Its not a race thing.

A good friend of mine likes to say it's worse in the Northeast because they don't believe they're racist, even when they are LOL

Northerners are better at having a dual persona - one for public consumption, and one that's OK to reveal as long as they aren't in mixed company. Southerners are much more open and honest with their feelings. It's not racist-free, but it is sure a heck of a lot easier to spot them.

How about you start with pulling your pants up.

If you're dumb enough to intentionally allow your pants to fall below your butt, I'm not going to trust your intelligence - or judgment.

Totally serious. I need specifics. I need to know exactly what clothing is considered "thug."

I know Little Wayne has a bunch of hot mess tattoos on his face, which is NOT a look I would recommend if you need to get a job, but I am wondering what kind of clothes signify a "thug" apart from obvious gang insignia.

I feel you definitely share some racist views. I believe, based on some of your posts, that some people would consider you racist. But me personally, no I do not. You have been willing to have some sort of conversation. You do not spew hate, but I do feel that you have often spread ignorance. Ignorance you have mistaken for facts and truths.

The minute someone decides to be the arbiter of who is, and is not, racist - is the minute that person has decided to no longer try and discuss any real solutions. That's a scare tactic used only to try and coerce the feeble-minded to join their side of the discussion. It's easier - and sadly - more effective than really discussing the issues.

I dunno. Wearing a hoodie.

If I was at a car dealership, I'd be fine with all but the first one selling me a car.

If you want to be technical Washington DC is below the Mason-Dixon line.
Ok. What else does it have in common with "the South"? Political leanings? No. Demographics? No. It's odd to consider DC "the South" in this discussion. Ask any politician.

She asked me a question. I answered honestly.

That persona may be an idiot or an unfortunate slave to fashion, or wearing hand me down, and too poor to afford a belt, but I wouldn't, automatically consider them a criminal. A few years ago a good majority of kids around here under the age of 20 were wearing saggy pants. Stupid, stupid look, but doesn't signify to me anything other than following a stupid looking trend.

I wore legwarmers back in the day, no one thought I was a dancer. No one. Trust me.

But it's not "the South". Nobody considers Maryland the South either.

Oh I know, LOL. I live in the northeast, but technically...

I wouldn't mind the pants if they started making boxer shorts to look like shorts. ;) I don't need to see Justin Bieber's entire underwear wardrobe.

... and I still like the legwarmer look - but I went to High School in the 80's, so TIFWIW.
