I am already done with my shopping, so I have no need or desire to go shopping on BF.

I also don't care about Black Friday that much because I shop all year for deals and many times you can get better deals shopping the rest of the year. With toys, when Target goes to 75% off for example in January and July (or sometime in the summer), the prices are way better than almost anything you will find on Black Friday
Plus, I don't have anyone to go with and I'm definately not going alone.
Instead, if there is a huge deal on something I need, I'll sometimes send my list to my mom who goes with a group of people she works with and ask if they see one to grab it for me.
Will your mom not let you join her group? Can I?![]()
I completely agree with you. I was just looking at the paper & was saddened by how many stores are open today. Old Navy is open all day......closing at 8 p.m. & reopening later tonight. There were some others doing the same.People are camping in tents outside stores here already. I'm just mind boggled at it. I guess I can see certain situations where you actually need something like say an appliance or a coat or work clothes or what have you and they're selling cheap and going for that. Otherwise the whole thing seems, to me (and no offense if you don't agree), to be a sad testament to how commercial the holidays have become. I mean sure I like nice toys occasionally and I need clothes the same as anyone, but everyone I know has a long list of stuff they "have to" have and I don't get it. My co-worker went on at length last week about how much she "needed" and "had to have" some TV that is on sale on BF. And how she just "has to have" this big long list of toys and electronics for her kids, otherwise Christmas will be ruined. I just don't get it and I don't think I ever will.
Couldn't agree more. Maybe it's because my family is fortunate and doesn't want for material things, but I look at it as greed all the way around........starting with the retailers.kerplop, i absolutely agree with you. This day is supposed to be a day to remember to grateful for the abundant blessings in our lives and to spend time with our families. I am so sick of the commecialism and crass 'gimme, gimme, gimme' attitude of the modern world.
