Black Friday Target GC Deal: In-store and Online!

This is an awesome deal if it all works out and the redcard discount online is still working! We leave Dec 9th for WDW. Do you guys think I still have time to buy the Target gift cards in store on BF. Then immediately turn around and order the Disney ones from Target.com?? I only need about another $300 so that works great for me ;)
It's been my experience that IF Target .com has Disney GCs in-stock (and that's a BIG if), it takes a week or more for them to ship unless you were to choose expedited shipping. However, the quicker shipping would negate any savings. Given that you cannot use the Target GCs until the day after Black Friday, this would be cutting it really close for you.

Honestly, I'm sure that the intent of the deal is to get people to spend money at Target, not purchase gift cards for other stores and entities. That is why the offers are more closely watched.

In the past I haven't been able to buy other gift cards using a Target gift card. One Target GC I had was for a return and one was just a gift card I got for my birthday. When I went to pick up a GC to another store the machine wouldn't accept the Target GC as payment. Just make sure to double check prior to buying!

People do it constantly, it must have been bad luck.
You are definitely allowed to buy other gift cards with Target gift cards.

I have also used Target gift cards to buy other gift cards, specifically Disney ones.

How would they keep track of you if you paid with cash? Or went to multiple stores? Minnesota has a Target on every street corner. Kinda of like Walgreens. On the phone with Target to find out if you can purchase gift cards with gift cards. Heard the lady in the background say it was denied when trying to purchase a Disney gift card. They weren't sure about iTunes, but other cards were a can't do it. The activation code seemed to be the key to no. I know Walgreens won't let you use their gift cards to buy gift cards.
PLEASE DON'T CALL. I warned people about calling last Christmas, and I'm certain those calls are what prompted Target to add the gift card restriction to the pharmacy rewards coupon. Yes, you can buy gift cards with gift cards at Target, but don't make such a big deal about it that they notice and change the policy.

Yeah, it is cutting it really close. Lately, they seem to be shipping faster but right after BF sales is not the time to expect them to ship quickly. And I certainly don't want to pay for expedited shipping.

Agreed! Don't ask questions.:confused3

Question:
If I buy a gc online, will it actually ship me a physical card? I wanted to get a gc as a teacher gift and would rather give her a physical card versus a printed out email. kwim?

You can choose whether you get an e-gift card, a physical GC or have it sent to your mobile device.

Checked with DH and he added two more ways to know to my list.

1) You tried to buy more then 300 at once in separate transactions
2) You tried to do multiple orders of the gift cards online to be sent to the same address.

So in other words you can get more then 300 you just need to spend a tiny bit more effort by
1) Getting them in multiple trips with different payment methods or all cash at different registers so they dont' start to recognize you
2) Getting them at different stores with different payment methods or all cash
3) getting one in stores and one online

Maybe the $300 restriction will at least give more people a chance to buy some. I found it very frustrating to miss out because the first people in line/online bought up the entire supply. This way, you can buy more but you just can't do it all at once, I think.

I know there were those who expressed the "early bird gets the worm" mantra when I said this last year, but to me the $300 thing is no different than setting a limit on other BF deals. I just want to save a little extra money and I can see how it damages the chances for everyone when people use it as a way to fund a cruise or entire vacation, because it quickly wipes out the entire inventory. It also makes the store take a hard look at gift card policies. I get that buying up $5000 in gift cards saves someone $500, which would be awesome, but it doesn't take too many of those multi-thousand dollar purchases to wipe out the stock. It's not like the regular Red Card discount where you can just come back when the stock is replenished.

I agree. Target made this discount offer in order to lure customers into their stores. It's not intended to lure the same customer in for multiple trips within the same 6-hour period.

Yes, there is no way to police whether you purchased $300 in GCs at store #1 and then went over to store #2 to make the same purchase and then went online and made another purchase of $300 in GCs. But they don't have to make it easy for you to do it, either.

And kamik86, I have another to add to your list:
Tracking IPs. They can tell what IP an order was placed from, even if you use a different computer in the same home. I don't know it they would go so far as to check on this, but it is possible.

so...(and I admit, I haven't followed the other threads) I can buy 300.00 of GC's at Target,(it will cost 270.00 with this sale) then turn around in a day or two,and purchase $300 in Disney GC's using those giftcards? They allow this? I don't get in on the redvcard and other stuff I've seen around here, but 10% is not insignifcant to save on meals:thumbsup2

True didn't think of the IPs, mostly because I realized that as soon as you had them sent to the same address it would catch that.

Yes, that would work. The only thing that would limit you would be if the store manager limits the number of Disney GCs that you can buy in a single transaction/visit/day.

The REDCard discount would save an additional $15 off of the purchase of $300 in Disney GCs, but it only works online and you can only order 3 $50 GCs in a single order.

Does anyone know if the Employee Discount will work on these? I know they used to before but not sure anymore.

How do you still get a red card 5% discount for the disney cards, when you're not paying with the red card, cuz you're paying with the target gift cards?
