Black Friday Target GC Deal: In-store and Online!

Hmmmm...I need $400 in SWA gift cards to pay for our spring trip. I already used points to cover our flight to WDW, now I need to get us home. Saving $30 would be great! On top of that, I see that you can now get a $100 SWA gift card via e-mail on the Target website.

Let me try the math...

1) Buy a $300 Target GC (pay $270)
2) Add (3) $100 and (1) $50 card to my cart which, with my 5% RedCard default payment, will cost $332.50.
3) Use the $300 Target gift card and $32.50 on the RedCard which then makes my total OOP cost $302.50 for $350 in gift cards...which amounts to a 13% savings:dance3:!

Now, I have to keep my fingers crossed that our flight prices don't jump up too much in the interim:scared:.

Don't forget if you act fast you could use those SWA gift cards to buy SWA points for your flight and right now SWA is giving a bonus of 40% extra points. So you could save 53% (40% on the points and 13% at Target)

I have a limited and tight vacation budget. I would love to take the $270 out to buy the $300 Target gift card and then turn around and use it for $300 in SWA gift cards, but what if Target changes their policy in the interim:scared1:. I'm terrified that I will buy the Target GC during the promo and by the time I try to use it the next day, Target will say that it cannot be used to purchase other pre-paid/entertainment/gift cards. Then I will be stuck with a $300 Target gift card AND I will still need $300 for our airfare.

Am I worrying myself for nothing? Or is this something that is entirely possible? I'd love to wait until someone reports success, but of course, the promo deal will have expired by then...

If you are really scared then take the $300 and buy SWA points. They in turn will give you 40% more SWA points. For $302.50 you can get 15,500 SWA points. 40% bonus is better than the 13% you said you would get from Target.

Great idea!...but it looks like you can only use a credit card or PayPal to purchase the points.

Unfortunately, I need 26,800 points ($550) to book all of our flights on points. By using the points I already have (~27,000) and paying OOP for the rest, it will only cost me $490. I told DH that the extra $60 to purchase the points is like buying "insurance" because it makes the fares fully refundable, but he pointed out that if we do not go in May, we will certainly be going next fall (Oct) so the credit would get used one way or another.

Sorry, I'm a little off topic with a question, but I know that you Target specialists can help!

I have the Target Pharmacy rewards, additional 5% off. I received a certificate to be used in the store and I also received a certificate to be used on the internet.

Can I use them both? Thanks!:goodvibes

Yes, they are two separate coupons. One can be used in store (all day on the day you choose it) and one can be used online (one time use only).

Are you sure? I didn't think you could use pharmacy rewards on any gift cards.

Does anyone else think these gift cards are going to be special ones? How else can they stop people from using them right away?

The question did not specify gift cards. Can you use both the instore and online coupon? Yes. Can you use either on gift cards? No.

I have been following this all week, tell me if I have this correct:
I can go to Kroger in my area and purchase $300 in Target gift cards. This way I earn 4x the gas points.

Then on Black Friday I shop online and purchase $300 worth of Target gift cards that will be on sale 10% off. If my default payment is set to my Target Red Card, I will also receive the 5% off and then I can pay for the gift cards using the Target gift cards purchased at Kroger.

Finally on Saturday when those Target gift cards are activated I can use those to purchase Disney gift cards online using the same method above and also receive the 5% Redcard savings.

Right??

The Target REDCard discount does not apply to Target GC purchases.

Thank you!:cool1:

Can I tell of a tiny Target victory?

I used the $10 off $100 purchase twice last week (I had 2 coupons) and the $10 off $50 in groceries twice also.

But the second time for the groceries gift card the cashier neglected to use the coupon.
I went back to the store to try to get it and they told me I would have to bring back all the groceries to get the $10. We had the steaks the night before and I started to put my finger down my throat :rotfl:, no, I complained a bit about the policy and left.

This weekend the Christmas trees went down to 50% off and I had overpaid the week before (and using that $10 coupon towards the purchase). I brought in the receipt yesterday and they gave me the full difference (not taking off that $10 off). So, in conclusion, I feel vindicated. :thumbsup2

Glad to hear it evened out for you!

Discover card has 5% cash back for online shopping through December of 2014. I think I will buy the target gift cards with Discover for the extra 5% and then buy Disney cards with using the giftcards. Can you use the e gift cars in store?
I forgot about this! Thanks for the reminder! :goodvibes

Anyone know how to buy it online? I'm not seeing an offer now, is it not live yet, or is there a code I'm supposed to enter?

I got a few things at target. My daughter got the iPad mini for a great price. Not looking for much this year. Picked up a few toy bargains.

Has anyone been to the store to check the restrictions that are posted? The flyer mentions special conditions about the gift card that will be posted in the store. I'd prefer to buy the gift card online but not if I won't be able to is it on a SWA gift card.
