Possibly, but the only problem is that most of these sale prices only last for a certain time period. And I'm sure they have policies on these items (no rainchecks I bet) but you'd have to check.

I HIGHLY doubt you could get a price adjustment if they are only being advertised at this price for 5 hours or so...

All three of the mentioned stores have always allowed price adjustments with the reciept at the service desk during the hours that they sale is valid. I have never had difficulty with this. If you have a layaway, you need to go to layaway for the price adjustment, again during the hours the sale is valid. Keep in mind the premise behind this is that the general public has not been privy to the mentioned ads until Thanksgiving Day. Sometimes the brands offered may not be available until that day. They were purchased in bulk and are distributed to each chainstore in limited quantities. Before this thread I never knew this info. was available this early. I believe that the assumption is that the purchase was made in good faith and then the store made a better offer which you are entitled to take advantage of.

I called our local Walmart to ask about placing the gameboy advance on layaway and getting a price adjustment on Friday morning. The manager said that the gameboy with the screen saver will not be "placed on the shelves" until several hours before the sale and therefore could not be placed on layaway.

That's what Target did last year too. They had a specially packaged Game Boy Advance with a Super Mario Game included. I think last year it was 69.99.. It was not placed on the shelves until that Friday morning....

FYI

In retail black friday is traditionally known as the day after Thanksgiving. It is so named because it is the day most retailers go from the "red" financially speaking into the "black" , in others words, they finally break even for sales all year and finally pull ahead.

Other local lore says it is so named because it is such a bear of a day to be out and about shopping (crowds galore)! car insurance companies wish many folks would stay home as they see a huge increase in claims on this day alone!

so. . . if you are going out, have fun, stay calm and remember it's suppose to be fun not a competition! Let the Christmas spirit reign!

I wonder is the term "Black Friday" is a regional one. I'm from NJ, and in the 7 years I've lived in Vegas, NOBODY has ever heard that term, and I worked for two years in a major department store (Dillard's) and even the manager had never heard of it!

I love black friday!!! Especially because I'm always in TAX FREE (well, sales tax free) NH for that weekend at my mom's house. She watches the kids for me, and I head out the door no later than 5:30am. By that time, there is usually already a line outside of whatever store I start at. I get the vast majority of my shopping done on that day,and usually save a bundle.

Beware of Target's return/price adjustment policies!

I bought a GameCube two weeks ago. After reading that they will be on sale, I asked about a price adjustment. They only do price adjustments for two weeks. Although, their return policy for electronics is 90 days!

My solution is to return the system I purchased. Buy the same system within the 2 week period and get a price adjustment on Black Friday. What a hassle.
