Black friday buddies 2010 unite! BACK FROM THE TRENCHES POST YOUR WAR STORIES!

I can't believe it's out already!!!
Well, they gotta print bunches and bunches of them, get them to various distribution companies (newspapers and such), collate them in with other circulars, etc. And that's all got to happen within the next 14 days.

Good luck finding a good microwave.
Good point: Microwaves have been one of many victims of price wars, resulting in massive cost-cutting that has compromised quality and reliability over the long-term. :(

I have to agree with this. I was hoping for a good deal on a TV, but I don't think any that have shown up so far are very good brands.
I think the Black Friday circulars (inserts) are aimed more at the budget shopper, so they're going to show more of the budget options. However, there will be good deals on Panasonic, Samsung and LG televisions.

Agreed! The Target toy coupon book isn't very good IMO either. I heard on the radio that one category that is recession proof is toys b ecause parents will buy them anyway. Maybe that's why the sales are n't good. That Lego DS game for $7 does have me excited though. And the blender. I was thiniking of that game for DS anyway, and I need a new blender.:thumbsup2

Not impressed either with the toy book running now or the BF ad. I have been doing just as good- if not better with the sales since summer. On Black Friday Leapster games are $15, I got them at TRU a few months ago for $16.66 (B2G1) less a coupon- plus if I spent a certain amount I got a gift card. TRU had 30% off all Uno and Apples to Apples games a few weeks ago, only a $1 to $2 difference from Target's BF prices. Wii Just Dance 2 is $40 and you get a $10 gift card on BF. I got it a week ago for $26.67 with the B2G1 sale at Target. Not worth standing out at 4am for less than $5 savings total on 3 toys I already have stashed away!

I am interested in the $25 iTunes cards for $20 (was planning on getting my nieces and nephew $15 each, but with a deal I will kick it up to $20 OOP each.) Seriously, I bet that there will be more iTunes deals out there (drugstores, etc...) Walmart just had a deal last Saturday get $50 for $35.

For price, keep your eyes on Visio. For quality, keep your eye on Panasonic, Samsung and LG. Either way, keep your eyes on Amazon.com. It is unlikely that they'll be significantly undersold.

...also keep your eye on newegg.com. We have had good luck from there along with amazon.com.

I'm in!

Now to go back and read all of this!........

Sooooo.....exactly how early do I need to get to Target if I want to try for some of the door busters? I'm not talking big ticket/electronic stuff....just some of the small db's. Is 4:00 really necessary?

Does anyone remember if REI has any Black Friday deals like a coupon for that weekend? I would love a 20% off coupon that they send out occasionally to members (which I am one) so I can get my husband a hiking GPS.

Why do they do this? I was thinking of running up to Sears at 4AM to get the Dyson thats 50% off but the ad says Limit 4 per store. Usually they say things like minimum 4 er store, but they are only going to have 4 of these, thats insane. There are a few other door bsuters that I'm interested in but the savings aren't worth the 4AM time like that Dyson is

You answered your own question: You put in a "but" but not everyone will, and generally the stores will get more people to rush to the store based on the small but significant chance of getting a door-buster than if they didn't offer door-busters at all.

Target opening at 4 a.m. screws up my plans. They always opened at 6:00 which meant many other people were at the other stores.

Not impressed either with the toy book running now or the BF ad.

Actually, if you compare this year's Target BF ad with last year, you won't see that much difference.

The TVs being sold as doorbusters are the same two brands sold, last year.

A bright spot was the Sony Blu-ray player - it's under $100 (for those who want to get one, this year).

As for me, I am in a dilemma -- AAFES also opens at 4:00 a.m. -- their ad was "leaked", yesterday and looks to be more promising than Target (plus, since they are on a military base, they won't have the traffic/troubles that Target and the rest have).

For those looking for a deal on the Wii, Kmart is having a sale this week where if you purchase the Red Wii (with the Super Mario Brothers and Sports) for 199.99 you will get 50,000 rewards points (if you are signed up for their rewards program-which I think is free) which is actually $50 back.

Here is a link to the sale http://www.mykmart.com/mykmart_blog/Red-Wii-Offer

And the link to their rewards program https://www.shopyourwayrewards.com/sywr/home_do

Thanks! This is making me really work hard to stick to my boycot of Sears owned companies. I don't want to give them a penny of my hard earned money even if it costs me more money. I know, I know, not really a good budget decision, but I just can't bring myself to feed that monster. It does sound like a great deal for those who do shop there.

I've been at Target during BF 2008 and 2009 - it all depends on what you are looking-for.

The TVs will be gone within 20 minutes. Same for iPods, video games, and other electronics.

Also, last year, some of the kids' jackets went pretty quickly, as well.

If you see something you really want (and can be there @ 4:00 a.m.), do it!

Would the blu-ray player in the list items gone in 20 minutes? I usually hit Target after 9am on BF but I am usually not shopping for any specific item. I am still debating if I want to get a blu-ray player and having to get up at 4am doesn't help!

Target always use to open later so I always use to hit it after wal-mart and I never had a problem getting what I wanted from their ad. They always are well stocked and I have even had them issue rain checks for items I missed. With them opening at 4am I don't know how it will work out this year but I would think you should be fine not being there at 4, but i wouldn't wait til noon either.

I would think that would go quickly also....however, I noticed that walgreens is offering that same bluray for the same price so you might have a better chance going there as I wouldn't think that is a big "first stop" store on BF

Do not be misled by this statement -- if Target's BF ad (and the 3X5" shelftag says "No rainchecks", that means no rainchecks).

I would imagine the Blu-ray player will fly, too (since they are Sony, which has been a very reliable brand) -- also, according to the ad, Target will give a $10 gift card for every $100 spent, which makes for a bigger deal than at Walgreens, etc.

Personally, I'd do the 4 a.m. thing -- it's only once a year...
