Black Friday Blues?

Glad I'm not the only one! I hadn't been on the Dis in awhile, but I always come check out the Budget Board in November for Christmas ideas and deals. I don't think I even made it through the BF thread, made it through just a few pages of the gift ideas for teen girls thread and have bought almost no gifts yet. Used to be BF was my big finish and I'm wrapped by Dec. 1. I even did online BF shopping when we've been in Disney World!

Just not feeling it! I was also wondering if it's because the kids are older, don't need much, are harder to buy for and don't believe in Santa. Makes me kind of sad!

I did prefer it back when I was getting up super early(though I but a lot of stuff for me mostly when I'd be out), but I am glad that it is 10pm on Thanksgiving and I am officially done shopping for Christmas besides some GC and stocking stuffers:cool1:

I did 90% online over the last week. I went to Michaels tonight for my usual Christmas stock up and grabbed dd a laptop in store and will head to half price books tomorrow, but everything else I bought online this year. Just can't beat the deals I've been able to get.

I feel the same way. Even though I never really shopped on BF, we loved seeing the big lines outside of the stores when we drove home Thanksgiving night. I also liked to start shopping online at midnight when all the cyber deals started. Now I can't keep track of when all of the online deals are. I blame Kmart, I believe they were the first ones to be open on Thanksgiving.

I think the open on Thanksgiving is nuts. These companies made plenty of money without being open on Thanksgiving. Most say they ask for "volunteers", well, there is a fine line between volunteering and being strongly suggested that they better volunteer to work. I'll probably be at Menards very early - but today - no trips to Kohl's, Target, etc..... Today was about family.

I'm a year-round shopper, so Black Friday never was a huge deal for me - usually by this time of year I have most of my gifts already purchased, so I'm not so focused on the gift hunt that drives many folks to the sales. But the last few years, I typically would find some fun deals for myself online on Black Friday. I was surprised that didn't really happen this year - the things I was interested in, the stores didn't actually make available online. And I'm not talking the front page doorbuster stuff - I'm talking about things buried on page 20 of their ads that in the past would have been available online with no question. I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning last night just to end up buying nothing :confused3 Bummer.

I probably won't waste so much time on it next year. I'm more and more convinced that the Columbus and Veteran's Day sales are where the real deals are...

Ugh it was depressing! I stopped on my way home at Walmart and Target. Scored the 2 items i wanted and was home in 20 minutes.

Up early as dd wants to hit the mall. So hope to get some holiday fun out of that trip(maybe the music will help and i plan on buying some kind of holiday tree if i find a decent deal. I want to do a candy tree in my kitchen this year)

But so far rather a bustand i see why online shopping is more popular.

I also didn't see anything worth going for. I work nights (read Thanksgiving Eve and Thanksgiving night this year) so I'm always up for the online sales. I did want an A/V Receiver from Best Buy, but I was able to order that no fuss during their Early Access sale Mon.

As for the sales into Thanksgiving, I feel like people complained about having to stand out in the freezing cold overnight. It doesn't seem like it stops people from going, but you certainly hear more grumbling about the earlier start times. I know the likelihood that I'd ever stand in line in the middle of Thanksgiving is slim to none.

I used to get up early to watch the morning news when they would show the lines and ask the people what they were looking for.

DH went out a few years when the kids were small to get toy and video game deals.

This year I ordered most of my things from Best Buy on Thanksgiving. On Friday I bought the xbox and the chromecasts from Target after the rush went through.
