Black Friday Ads Started

Thanks for the heads up on this. I take my husband out every year on Black Friday (isn't he a saint??!). We visit his parents for Thanksgiving and his mom watches our daughters and we spend the day together.

However, what we have found is that if you go to Wal-Mart on Thanksgiving evening (yes - they are open), they will give you the Black Friday prices... at least at the Wal-Mart we go to in Iowa. We are then able to skip WalMart on Friday morning and head to the outlet mall and get those sales! Plus, there are no crowds in the evening. Also, they will match any other ad prices from their competitors... just bring in the ad. If the sales person is clueless, just kindly ask for a manager. They just want the sale and are super helpful.

Good luck! I can't wait for my shopping day with my hubby. We have a ball! :Pinkbounc

Well they gave someone the prices on digital cameras two years ago in NH near me and I arrived at 5min of 6 and they told me they were out of the cameras I wanted. Bad move on their part. I called the regional director and accused them of false advertising. I got two better cameras for the same price. I do not think they will do it again in our area. If it says 6 and you are there for 6 then they better have enough product to carry over for more than a second. I can see them giving the lower price on things like the small appliances that are ordered by the ton but not on the very limited items. OH and the clerk was dumb enough to tell me that they only had 15 cameras. I went to a couple of other stores and they told me they had ordered like 200!

Black Friday is a term for the day after thanksgiving. It is the day that retailers go into the "black" and start showing profit for the year. The people who work that day refer to it as black friday as it is a very dark day for them, long hours and crazy shoppers. HTH~Mandy

Nothing caught my eye either. As much as I hate Walmart, I went on Black Friday last year and was shocked at how friendly all of the customers and employees were. Everyone was helping everyone. I was dreading going there but it was actually pleasant - and I really detest going there.
I did notice that it said Gameboy was $48. They were $37 last year. I wonder if that is going to be the gameboy SP for $48. That would be a good deal.

It is definatley the GB SP's...from the site..

Gameboy Advance SP (4 Colors) - $48.88

Thanks KPmom. I had never heard that term before. It is madness. One year my mom and I decided to try to go shopping the day after Thanksgiving and people were lined up at Wal-Mart hours before it opened. Sorry maybe its just me but I didn't see anything that spectacular that I had to wait in the cold and snow 5 hours before they opened. HA

I can't wait until Black Friday!!!!!! Early, early morning shopping, followed by a trip to the airport to catch our flight to...WDW!!!!!!!!!!!! Nov. 25 will be here before we know it!

A word regarding the Venturer DVD player. We bought this last year before vacation and had to return it. It seemed to work OK at first, but the movie would restart after about 20-30 minutes, It made my poor DS (5) crazy - just as he became interested in the movie it would start over. When my DH returned it a student of his was working the return desk at WalMart and said they have people returning that DVD player like crazy.....just beware of this problem

Anyone know can I go put the gameboys on layaway and then go in and price adust and pick them up on black friday. That way I know I will have mine and not have to go to a empty shelf in disappointment.

You can do that as long as it's not some special packaging deal like they did with the Leappads last year. The barcodes were different from the other Leappads...but be prepared to wait in line at layaway for a very looong time. :hourglass I waited last year to do some price adjustments for stuff that was on sale and it was quite a wait. Since you plan on picking it up, maybe do a layaway and when you get there first go to the line and try to just get one. It will probably move much faster than the layaway line. Then just cancel the layaway later if you get one.

I looked on the link provided in the OP when this thread first started and when I looked again today it seems that they have added ALOT. The thing is that some of these things you can click on in the ad and it will take you directly to the Walmart site and you can order them now for the price listed as the Black Friday price? What gives? :confused3 When I click on the Disney Solstice Cruiser it says out of stock. I don't get it. :guilty:

I worked on Black Friday at BestBuy and the store might have opened at 5:00, but there were people in line at 3:00 to get some of the good deals and tickets are given out to the people in the front of the line, so at 5:00 when we opened those items were gone. There is no fighting in the isles, much more of a controlled situation. KB Toys has done the same thing the year Furbies were popular.
