Black Fly Bites??

We went to NH this weekend for a vaca, and boy were the black flies bad! I had never experienced them before. They are little, like gnats, and they swarm around you and don't leave you alone.

My dd had bites on her neck, I had no idea these things bite. Are these things around all summer? What do you put on the bites?

We call them teeth and wings.

they will be around for a few more weeks. Once it get too hot, then the mosquitoes take over that job of biting. They should be gone by the end of the month or mid July where I live. I have not found anything to put on the bites afterwards but Benadryl works for the swelling and calmine or caladryl will help with the itching. I HATE black fly season.

We use a product called Afterbite, which works fairly well. Black flies are gone now around my house, but the mosquito's are wicked.

They are a June insect. They will be gone in a couple of weeks.

June is the worst for black flies... They fly into your eyes, nose, mouth... they are (IMO) worse than mosquitoes. They will be gone in July!
