I log my food on Fitday, so you can see here what I eat: http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJournals.html?Owner=allyphoe

Today:
- two pieces of string cheese in a sawdust-and-guar-gum tortilla
- a bowl of canned refried beans with fat-free cheddar and salsa
- smoothie made out of 1% milk, strawberries, raspberries, and ground flax
- a handful or two of almonds
- some steak (MIL cooked tonight; I try not to get so much saturated fat in one meal) and a bag of spinach (steamed down to nothing) with a little butter and salt
- an orange

Still have some carbs and fat left for a snack later on. Maybe will have a piece of bread and butter.

Yesterday:
- wrap with string cheese, broccoli/mustard/clover sprouts, and pork tenderloin in a sawdust-and-guar-gum tortilla
- work lunch at the Chinese buffet: broccoli from the beef & broccoli, spicy stir-fried green beans, some lightly battered chicken breast, a bowl of soft serve with strawberries
- smoothie with 1% milk, strawberries, raspberries, and ground flax
- another cheese/sprout/pork wrap (wanted to finish up the sprouts)
- half a package of grape tomatoes (first half eaten on a salad the prior night)
- a square of chocolate
- a pomegranate

I'm not on any particular plan. I try to get about 1/3 of my calories from each of fats/carbs/protein. Oh, and I don't count calories carefully (didn't mess with any of the sauces at the Chinese buffet lunch, for instance - and I rarely ever measure anything with a measuring cup, much less a scale). So the fact that I don't end the day with a very high calorie count doesn't mean that I'd get anywhere near that low eating prepackaged, preportioned meals with a known calorie count.

Too early to report on today but yesterday-

B - Hard boiled egg & banana w/coffee

S- Cliff Bar

L- Veggie Sandwhich ( Dark Rye, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, avacado, cucumber, black olives, sprouts, jack cheese )

S- Yogurt

D- Chicken Soup

Edamame is soybeans. You can get it frozen in the vegetable section, either shelled or in the pods (much more fun for snacking, since they take longer to eat). All you need do is thaw them (I nuke them for 1 minute), and give them a little salt.

I haven't lost any weight lately, as I've been recovering from a series of colds which turned into pneumonia. So no gym, and lots of couch-sitting and web-surfing. But at least I stopped the holiday weight gain cycle.

How about you?

My daily routine (food-wise) is pretty boring - but I do have a yummy (points friendly - I'm on Weight Watchers) lunch idea to share :)

I've found knishs (Gabila brand) that are only 3 points. I bake one in the toaster oven for about 10 minutes. When it is done, I slice it open (long-ways) and top it with Boar's Head Turkey Pastrami and a slice of reduced fat (I can't stand the fat-free stuff) Swiss Cheese. Place it under the broiler until the cheese becomes bubbly. Voila - a 6-7 point lunch (depending on how much meat/cheese you use) that is very filling and tasty :cool1:

I top mine off with a little mustard. It really makes you feel like you are "cheating".

For anybody who is wary about turkey pastrami - it tastes just like the real thing - I swear :)

Try it - you'll love it.

I hope that helps somebody out there who has found themselves in a lunch-rut.

YUM YUM YUM

i'm pretty sure i bought the tortillas at Super Walmart...i had also shopped at Whole Foods that week but i don't think i got them there? They are Tam-x-ico's! 100% Whole wheat tortillas and are 2 pts each. there is 8 in a pack, they are good i think. i'm pretty sure you can find 2 pt wheat tortillas pretty easily. I"m not counting points right now, i'm doing sparkpeople, but i have done WW enough and remember buying tortillas often.

So it would be
2 pts tortilla
1 pt laughing cow cheese (i used swiss but any flavor, it gave a cheese taste and sometimes almost a mayo taste, i love mayo so i miss it)
1 pts for turkey lunchmeat
1 pts for avacado -- 1/8 of the whole fruit

i slice the avacado thin, just enough to taste it in each bite.

so i guess it's about 5 pts, depending on how much meat and/or avacado you use

i had another yummy wrap today for lunch. last night i made some 'slaw' with some shredded cabbage i had bought and needed to use, i found a Rachael Ray recipe that was 8 oz bleu cheese, 1/3 c mayo, 5 cups shredded cabbage, 2 medium carrots shredded, salt and pepper to taste -- mixed together and refrig overnight. i'm dividing it into 9 servings at about 3 pts each.

So it was wrap, ham lunchmeat and slaw -- yummy and again about 5 pts

so far

B: starbucks latte, egg beaters and one slice WW toast
L: wrap

i'm craving something sweet though now!!:rolleyes1 :scared:

Oh - I love talking about food and I try to be very organized about meal planning. So here is what we have been doing (my DH and I)

I am a BJ's shopper which has been great for dieting. I get the giant tub of spring mix for about $6 and we get the 100 pack of containers (for take out). On Sunday nights I marinade boneless/skinless chicken breasts in the Mrs. Dash (no salt) and he grills them all up and I package into ziplock sandwich bags. Each weekday am I grab 2 containers and drop salad in bucket and grab a bagged chicken. We both have a bag of crutons and salad dressing at work. I also grab a Yopliat Light (also by the case from BJ's) and usually a Clementine or banana. It is quick and easy and I love heating up the chicken before adding it to my salad.

We also eat breakfast before we leave - usually ceral Fiber One or Shredded Wheat. For dinner we have been doing a lot of baked fish with brown rice and steamed veggies (also from BJ's - 3 big bags of frozen mix veggies for under $6) I generally cook enough of this meal so we can do it 2 nights in a row.

Tonight we are having turkey meatloaf I made with BBQ sauce and I also make turkey meatballs for dinner Thurs. night. I really think planning ahead is really helpful!

Okay, here's today's menu:

Breakfast:
1 banana - 2 pts
1 grande, non-fat, skinny mocha from Starbuck's (using the new SF mocha) YUMMY - 3 pts

Lunch:
1 cup pina-colada Kroger-brand yogurt (surprisingly good) - 2 pts
Nature Valley granola bar - 4 pts
1 c pineapple - 1 pt

Snack: (if I am hungry)
1 100-calorie snack pkg of shortbread - 2 pts

Dinner: (going to BW3's for birthday party)
Probably grilled chicken salad w/dressing on the side & no cheese

My food is pretty boring. Lots of repetition as I like certain things & know the points. I post all mine in my journal here @ WISH. After almost 5 years off & on WW I pretty much know what I like & eat that.

Mickeefan - does the Starbucks Skinny Mocha have a terrible after taste? I ordered one & when I got to the window the girl asked me if I was sure I wanted that. Said the aftertaste was horrid, so I had my usual sf decaf cinn dolce.

I work tonight so my day is kind of crazy

8am get kids up,
Special K bar 2pts
Sleep from 9-12
English Muffin 1 pt
1tbsp Peanut butter 2p
3Pm
I banana 2pt
1 low fat cheese stick 1pt
Dinner

veggie pizza (this is a personal size so I am estimating pts) 5pt????
Stir fry veggies with oil 1pt

Tonight at work 7p-7a
apple 2pt
sugar free jello 0pt
panina 7 pt

Might have some 100 cal cookies 2pt or some carrots

got my H2O in so far, will contiue to drink:)
did a 1 mile WATP booster walk and a 15 minute upper body workout

ONWARD AND DOWNWARD

P.S. I am so excited to see a post I started go to page 2:rotfl:

I did notice an aftertaste, but it wasn't horrid. If I'm really craving a mocha, I'll get it again. I'll probably go back to my usual which is non-fat sf hazelnut latte or sf hazelnut non-fat iced coffee.

waiting on dinner - it's spaghetti squash - I browned onion, fresh brocolli and fresh mushrooms -will add canned spaghetti sauce - heat up and have a browned sweet italian chicken sausage to put in DH's (I just am not sure I care for that in mine) He will need extra anyway he is at a weight lifting class and then right off to a spinning class, so I try to make a bit more for him on class night. He gets garlic bread too - not me :-)

But, I read the mocha/coffee posts - if I am not treating myself to coffee "out" then I add a 1/2 packet (to your taste) of diet swiss miss hot choc and it is a nice treat to me.

Also, goldcupmom - I so relate to the "rut, know the points and just stick with it" food choices. ohMom (my DD) - has been known to say my meals can be "boring" but you know I actually look forward to my cottage cheese and berries for breakfast and this week I am into a brown rice w/ salmon "kick" for lunch (not today though it was rice/mushrooms instead) anyway - sometimes I think it just helps me stay on target !

I did try a different brand english muffin (I have that on the weekend) Thomas brand multigrain 100 cal and they are good - soft - even when toasted and my pnut butter melted right into it. That is my prewalking meal on Sat morning :-)

off to check the squash ..............

Ohhhhh, that squash sounds good. How do you cook it? I've got spaghetti sauce in the cupboard and this would be a good way to get some veggies. Thanks.

As for last night, I did pretty good at BW3's. I had a salad with bleu cheese on the side and used my fork for each bite. It was a birthday party for a friend's daughter (12) and I had a small piece of Angel Food cake. Not too bad, I guess.

Tonight's going to be difficult, too. I'm meeting some friends at Abuelo's (mexican). Chips & salsa are my downfall. I've looked at their menu, and have a general idea what looks good, but it will be that basket of chips staring at me from the center of the table! :scared:
