I originally posted this on week 9 - then realized needed to start a new thread ;)

I get a daily e-mail inspirational quote - today's is:

Quote:
We are what we repeatedly do.
--Aristotle

did I have to have that reminder so early in the morning.....................

I, too, have been among the MIA - hopefully, getting back on track and I am working on the challenge too. My boss is off this afternoon, I plan to get a couple of letters done to friends .

I am off to do the official WI - not a pleasant thought - hopefully my scale will be kind - but I am in the "same boat" as a few others - losing and regaining the same few pounds.

DH just reminded me TO VOTE today - so I am passing that good advice along too - remember if you don't vote you don't get to "grumble" about politics - at least that is "MY" rule

to all for a good WI today - me included!!

EDIT - WI - I am the same as last week - thankfully - no gain - but I really need to get back in this game and start moving downward !!

Hi everyone:

Well I am up 6 pounds this week :( Although, I am hoping this is just temporary because yesterday morning I was up 10 pounds! I think most of this weight is fluid retention, since I ate a lot more salty foods during the 10 day cruise. Also, starting this Friday I'm going back to Phase I on South Beach. So I hope to have a nice weight to post next week. Sorry for the addition of 6 pounds this week :(

Well, I haven't been any help this week. I didn't register a loss, and (again) I didn't quite rise to the challenges. I'll tally them up and see what I can do in the next 24 hours. ;) (I don't do nails, so I'm out for that one!)

Ooooh! I CAN get 5 points by sharing what I do for myself. I'm reading right now (Lean Mean Thirteen by Janet Evanovich) and I really enjoy the time on the computer planning my lessons. :surfweb: I know that sounds weird, but I have a new SMARTboard in the class, and I am having fun with it, even though it does mean new planning and new lessons. I love listening to my girls sing together, so when we are in the car, I have to make sure that Broadway songs are in the CD. After an always exciting day at school with the rugrats, I love to relax in front of the t.v. to "veg out"-no heavy shows for me! :happytv: I used to shop, but I've found out that if I stay out of the stores, I don't spend nearly as much as I used to. Of course, online shopping can be done, but I can fill the carts and then close the browser.

Hmmmm. I think that I CAN rack up some points for the team, since I'm not helping with the weigh-in.

Have a good day, everyone! Up and at 'em!

Well, I'm posting a 1.4 pound loss. Of course, I wish it was more, but it does get me into the 280's, so that's certainly exciting!:cool1:
Hopefully next week I will be able to post a new clippie!

Good Morning, Blue Team!

Well I am down 1 lb this week! :cool1: Hopefully the gaining and losing those same few pounds is a thing of the past and I will be on my way down again! I've changed up my exercise routine and started taking a new vitamin the one a day weight management ones so I am going to credit my loss to that.

Geekerbell - Congrats on your loss and reaching the 280's! I am so excited for you. Keep up the great work. I hope that after the challenge you will join us over on the massive thread! They are a wonderful group of ladies and I am very greatful to all the support and encouragement they have given me.

Congrats Debbie & AEG on maintaining!

Seaspray - Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful time on your cruise. Don't worry you'll drop those pounds and then some in no time! I know you can do it!

To everyone else have a great WI and day!

Stay healthy!

Michele

Good Morning!!!:coffee:

I am finally posting a loss, albeit a small one, after two weeks of nothing. I am down .8 for this week. So now I am 3 measly pounds away from my new clippie, which I am determined to get by the 18th (my 29th birthday for the eighth time;) )

SeaSpray-glad you got home safe and sound!!! I was keeping up with you on Suzanne's live posts, sounds like you guys had quite the trip!!! I hope we can catch up with you and JerseyGirl at some point to discuss it. All that salty food can cause water retention, so I bet next week you will post a great loss.

Debbie-don't you love the Stephanie Plum books? She is a riot, love Grandma Mazur. Reading is one of my true indulgences, and there just isn't enough time for me to read all the books I want to. But it is one of the things I like to do for myself. Also, I really love reading with my DD cuddled in bed at night. We have been reading Harry Potter (we're on book 5) and I really look forward to that quiet time with her, just us.

I too am not a mani/pedi girl (no mani for me due to my work) and pedi's I may do during the summer once, but I'm just not that into it. I only just started wearing makeup on a regular basis, and only a little eyeliner, mascara, pressed powder and lip gloss. Hair is important to me, but the whole makeup thing never really was. Maybe I'm weird, but oh well.:upsidedow

Hope everyone has a great LOSING day.

good morning BLUE!!

:sad2: :sad2: i hate to report that unfortunately I found veronica's loss...i'm up 0.8 lbs today. URGH! i feel like such a chump after a great loss last week. it was the halloween candy hanging around the house. i'm such a sweet tooth. yesterday i made healthier chocolate/banana muffins to indulge in a treat that i control, not one that controls me. :sad1: :sad1: i'm sorry guys.....

cyber high five to mom/Debbie for maintaining and  to Michele, Geekerbell and Veronica for losing! ROCK ON!! and to all who post a maintain or loss this week.....keep me going please i need you!!

ok -- to us who are :yo-yo: the same few pounds -- what can we do THIS WEEK to boost us back into losing?? i think for me to start will be more check-ins during the week to keep my focus. i'm committing to only healthy snacks....no candy or white sugar this week. oh jeesh, did i really say that? ok ok ok...there are treats with splenda and i can control those, they don't control me..

my other tactic is to shake up my workouts...i fizzled last week and only worked out 3 times. this morning i went to 6 a.m. spinnning class again, i do really like it and it was easier today with the time change so i need to keep that mojo going. there is another class on friday so hold me to it! :thumbsup2
for now i gotta go and get a few things done, this is why i got up early, right??

Good Morning Blue Team!

I don't know how...but I am down 1.6 this week from last week. I really think cutting the sodas out of my diet has helped my body out. Man, did I have a terrible headache those first few days though!

I too am determined to get back on track this week. I need to get back to my walking. My goal is to walk at least 3 times before Sunday. (Modest, but realistic for me this week!)

Hang in there everybody. Reading everyone's posts in an inspiration to me. I REALLY don't want to put on the "holdiay" pounds this year! I don't have the money for new clothes right now! I must stay in this size (or smaller!)

Have a great day!
Traci

Sorry guys I am up 1.3lbs this week. I am kind of surprised I didn't gain more. I was good about not eating the Halloween candy around the house and office until Halloween night. After that I was eating some everyday. I leave for WDW on Saturday so my goal is to get off what I gained and hopefully a little extra.

Have a great week everyone!!

Hi everyone! I am reporting in a maintaining week. I am not exactly happy about that because I certainly have not had my head in the game. I haven't been on WISH as much as I should, and I have been eating, and eating, and eating, and on and on and on. :sad2: I just don't get why I put up so many road blocks. There can't be one good thing about this. Yesterday as I woke up I layed in bed thinking about "monday" and getting another "good start on a MOnday" and I started to think what all this overeating is doing for me... what is the benefit? The only thing I could come up with was that it "feels good" and then I asked myself, "well, is that the only way you can help yourself feel good?" No, or course not, but I let Monday slip away and now Tuesday is slipping away too with not some, but ALL BAD food choices. Sounds like I need a Jillian to give me some "beatings, beatings, beatings", and then I need a Bob to tell me that I am worth it and that I am special! OK, who wants to be my Jillian, and who wants to be my Bob???? :rotfl: Step up and give me the beatings, and the hugs!

AlreadyexcitedGrammy, congrats on the maintaining! I love that quote you posted. I also remember one similar to that, "if you keep doing what you are doing, you are always going to get what you've got". Puts a perspective on getting going doesn't it? Lets buckle down this week and do it together! And YES, I did vote today already! We are voting on school referendums, and I hope it passes!

SeaSpray, WELCOME BACK! I read your post on the last weeks thread and glad you are home safe and sound! Don't worry about those 6#, they will come off and you will be rockin the scale once again!

Debbie, maintaining is still ok! Hey, I didn't realize you are a teacher! What grade do you teach? I am very envious! I went back to school and got my teaching license, but have been unable to find a job. I am pretty sad about that, and unfortunatley I will have to give up on my dream of becoming a teacher. I am missing out on so much just working weekends, and I haven't been very productive at home during the week. Teaching jobs are so hard to come by in this area. for one of the jobs I was applying for, there were over 900 applications for 1 position! I did mention awhile back that I got a new job, it is a nurse consultant job, I am still waiting to hear from them when I can start, so that has been torturous waiting, and waiting, and waiting!:hourglass Anyway, I just wanted to say that is awesome you are a teacher!

Geekerbell, congrats on the loss and the entering of a new "decade"! Way to go! I know that you will be getting that shiny new clippie next week! I am trying on a pair of shades to get ready for it!:cool2:

LaLaroo78, congrats on the loss!!!! What are you doing to change up your exercise routine? Would love to hear about it.

VernRDH, congrats on the loss! Hey, a loss is a loss and one to be celebrated!!!! You'll get that new clippie by the 18th! Hey, and btw we are birthday buddies. Mine is on the 25th! Isn't it awesome having a birthday right around Thanksgiving? I don't know about you, but as I was growing up we always got together with family and they ALWAYS remembered my birthday because of thanksgiving, so I always got presents on Thanksgiving! Love that Holiday!;)

ohMom, I feel your pain! Yo-yoing is very tough to deal with. What can we do? Well, I like your idea of shaking up exercise. I think I will add in a lot more walking into my exercise plan. I love to get out in the fresh air, and I think I need that now. The candy/sweet tooth isn't a problem for me, but how about if I add no McDonalds for the week for me? I'll match your white sugar with a big mac and raise your candy with a french fry! And how about that journaling? Have you been doing that? I haven't. I will start tomorrow! (I should probably journal today and just see what I have been eating)

DisneyMomTwins, congrats on the loss! That is fantastic! Cutting out soda is hard, but your body will rejoice and be happy with it. Way to go for making some healthy choices. Your walking goal is a good one. Have you thought of which days you want to walk? Perhaps write down the days you plan to walk in your calendar and make a date with yourself!

AuntieM03, that Halloween candy can certainly be a curse. Hang in there, you will loose the pounds and more! I wish you LOTS of fun at Disney. I wish I was going back! here is a good luck wish that you win a dream!:wizard:

I wanted to add in, what I do for myself is to try and take relaxing walks, and enjoy nature during my walks. I love surfing the net, and often find myself on Youtube, watching Disney videos! I love to read books and find myself transported back in time. I mostly read historical romances. Those set in the wild west, and those set in medieval times in Europe. I love those dashing princes and cowboys! I also love to spend time with my family, and we like to watch reality shows together. We really only watch amazing race and survivor. It is very enjoyable for me. One of my biggest indulgences is going to a movie theater. I love to do that!

Well, I maintained this week which is pretty lucky considering that we hit the fast food a lot more than usual. I'm going to try harder this coming week to have dinner planned so we don't end up in the drive-thru. I am determined to not ruin my progress as we get into all the holiday temptations! Luckily I am not making Thanksgiving dinner this year--I am going to go and splurge and enjoy on that one day and not have to worry about leftovers sitting in the fridge tempting me the whole weekend!
I'll be around this week to hopefully encourage and be encouraged! Hang in there, everybody!

MJ

ok vija -- i'm game ::yes::

my DD just offered me a bit gloop of frosting off a cake and i turned it down!!!

Hi All,

I can report a 1.8 pound loss and I rocked the challenge. Congratulations to everyone who lost and maintained. That is a major accomplishment considering all the Halloween candy floating around.

Take care,
Beth

Good Wed morning and TODAY is the day to make it happen - I am "with" all you guys and just want my head to get into "this IS an everyday way of life thinking - make good choices everyday" - last night we had dinner at church and I "mindlessly" ate a brownie that wasn't even very good - soooooooooooooooooooo - why didn't I eat just 1/2 of it noooooooooooooooooooooo I ate the whole darn thing - ugh. I did skip the bun for the sandwich :lmao: TODAY - TODAY -TODAY............ I am off to treadmill in just a few so trying to get this day off to a good start and srambling to get some points in for the challenge too

Challenge question on time for me is:
waking up early and having a cup of coffee while reading a daily devotion and a reflection/commentary on the devotion. (great place on line - my church site- and the reflection "often" kicks my butt - it is written by a team of folks from our church so I can often put names and personalities to the writing)

while treadmilling - watching the Oprah show or just something I am interested in - that I would not otherwise take the time to watch.

playing a computer word game with my DH (Flip Words) I know that is both of us - but it is "me" time too

winter time - wearing comfy jammies and having a cup of hot tea while under a snuggly blanket watching tv - aka VEGGIN

reading in bed at night (for those who read Janet Evanovich - aren't those just a wonderful "laugh out loud" and the all the characters are so visual!)

a relaxing massage

hot-tubbing- especially in the winter and snow is falling (yes - our htub is outside)

Girls Trips -LOVE EM- have an annual one to the Vera Bradley sale in May and every two years one to Vegas - both include my DD (ohMom) (June of 2008!)

Congrats to all that lost weight - maintained and to those of us who need a SWIFT KICK to get it going again (me included") CONSIDER YOURSELF KICKED!!!

Congrats to all that lost weight - maintained and to those of us who need a SWIFT KICK to get it going again (me included") CONSIDER YOURSELF KICKED!!!

Remember me - I just posted a "kick" and then went merrily on my way to read my daily motivational email and so here it is ..................

You are not stuck where you are unless you decide to be.
--Wayne W. Dyer

Well thank you Wayne Dyer for reminding me, that it is up to me to make the decision not to be stuck here...........

Guess he just reinforced that KICK for "us" today :dance3:

AEG - I love love love that inspiring line from your devotional e-mail! Seriously, I'm going to print it our and post it on my fridge! Thank you!!:goodvibes

Well, I haven't been great about exercising the last month or so, but this week I decided to use the time change to my benefit - not for extra sleep, but for getting up for my morning walk. So far it is going well. I just finished my third day, so hopefully this will become a habit again.

Of course, since it's been awhile since I've done it on a regular basis, and where I'm walking now (because of better lighting) has hills, my ankle and shins are killing me! Ugghh!! :headache: Sometimes it feels like I just can't win!

But I know this is best for my health in the long run, so I'm just going to tough it out.

Gotta go right now. I'll be back later to post my challenge stuff.

Hope everyone has a super Wednesday!!:grouphug:

Mornin' Ladies!

While I was not terribly excited with my WI yesterday, I did weigh today (I know I shouldn't but I get on everyday) and today I was down an other 1.8! Now this is where things get a little dicey for me. Yesterday I had a really good on plan day (I did not eat the cake that my friend brought to work YEAH!!:thumbsup2 ) but I had less protein yesterday and am seeing a loss. For some strange reason, I seem to post bigger losses when I eat more complex carbs and veggies and less meats/proteins. Isn't that backward? :confused3 Aren't carbs supposed to turn to fat and make you gain? This has happened to me before, and I thought perhaps it was a fluke but to post a loss of that much in one day while eating mainly carbs, I don't get it. I'm not complaining, mind you, but just trying to figure it out. And I am not ready to go veggie or anything, but it just seems unusual. Oh well.

I have been really good with my exercise too-tomorrow I am taking an abs class with my trainer. Its supposed to be a real butt-kicker, so heaven only knows how I'll feel when I'm done!!!

Hope everyone has a great, healthy day. Stay strong, think good thoughts, DON"T EAT THE CAKE!!(thats for me;) )
