BL Summer Challenge 2009

Melanie - how exciting! :woohoo:
Maz - Sorry you've been having trouble - emotional eating is one of my big issues. This challenge has actually really helped me. For me, when I was stressed and craved a treat, I would ask myself why I wanted it and how many calories it had. Just acknowledging all of those times made me realize I couldn't keep doing it. Am I cured? No. But I've done a lot less emotional eating. You'll get there - you really will. :grouphug:

Tuesday's QOTD: What is your favorite Disney Hotel and why?
Grand Californian - it's gorgeous. If I'm limiting to WDW, my fave is the Boardwalk. I love the theming!

I've had such an off week. My folks have been visiting from out of town, so we've been celebrating DD's birthday (2 today!) for 5 days now. My mom has made DD a different birthday treat each night, which I have not been able to pass up (okay, granted, I didn't try to resist). On the positive side, I am on track to have all my COW fruits, veggies & water this week!

For favourite Disney Hotel, I'd have to say Caribbean Beach Resort at WDW. I haven't stayed at any of the fancier ones yet. We did stay at Disneyland Hotel when we went for DL's 50th, and it was very magical, but I really didn't like having to go through DTD to get to and from the parks. So at DL, we stay offsite because its cheaper and a shorter walk ::yes::

I am hoping to try Caribbean Beach Resort one of these times! It looks really nice! I stayed at Coronodo Springs once and really didn't care for it, though I liked the Pepper market, and I loved POR! I really enjoy the mods! We may be trying Fort Wilderness this next time though, we shall see.

My favorite Disney hotel is POR. We have also stayed at the Beach Club, POFQ and CSR -- and I have a favorite thing about each one, but my favorite overall is POR. I like the food court, boatride access to DTD, and beautiful grounds. I also like that it's more centrally located for the Parks we like to visit.

Hello, losers! Hope everyone is having a great OP day!

Tammy, have fun in the mountains. It looks like your moose clippie went ahead of you -- but that might just be my computer. ;) I know he is a wily one!

FLAngie, sounds like you are doing great staying on plan during your vacation.

I am just leaving the office after the big work crunch before vacation -- whew! :scared:

So for the next few days you can picture me sitting on this deck
OKOBOJIDECK2009.jpg
drinking green tea or MIL's specialty margaritas -- yum! Plan is to have lots of salad and fruit salad to stay OP.

I will have limited access by iPhone and my MIL's laptop so may pop in a time or two.

Have a great week, losers! See you soon and keep up the good work!

Have a great time!!! Love the picture you left us with. Don't know what is up with my moose...the line is still in my sig but I haven't been able to see it at all:confused3. Maybe he'll show back up eventually.

WTG sabushka on being the BL this week and congrats to all the super stars too. I think this is the first summer that I realized how hard it is to lose but I'm hanging in there. Thanks for the quotes to remember also LuvBaloo.

Congrat's to sabushka and ALL the BL's!! Way to go- Keep up the great job!

As far as the fall competition. I really like the single threads, because I do believe a lot of people drop off after a few weeks, but I do realize how big it gets too.

I'll go with the majority though I'm easy to please :)

Today's QOTD is brought to you by the fact that I just did online check in for POP Century and I'm so excited.

Tuesday's QOTD:

What is your favorite Disney Hotel and why:

Mine is the AKL because I just love the theming and it's so incredibly beautiful. I do love the monorail hotels for ease of getting to MK & Epcot - but the theming at AKL is so wonderful. Plus I love the animals.

POP will always be near and dear to my heart . It's so much fun and the price is so great that it allows us to take LONG vacations!!

Favorite place to stay would be Villas at Wilderness Lodge hands down. We love the size, theme, location, etc. Also love how dark the rooms can be in the morning that allow us to actually sleep in at WDW:thumbsup2.

Have a great day everyone!!

Lisa- That picture looks absolutely beautiful and peaceful, and I wish I could join you for a few margaritas. Have a fabulous vacation.

Congratulations Sabushka and the top losers!! :cool1:

It is interesting how half of us gained, and half of us lost, but if we weren't coming here for support and inspiration, I wonder how many more of us would have gained. Even though I'm not losing, I know I could be soooo much worse and having this challenge for accountability is definitely helping me.

Fav resort would have to be Pop. We've stayed there twice, and just booked a trip for november. If I could stay anywhere, I'd love to stay at the contemporary. I think my son would love it there.

Luvbaloo- those quote are awesome. I like this one, and it so pertains to me- "You know what to do to make the magic happen. Get on the wagon. We are all here to help you on the journey. We can do this one day at a time. One bite at a time."
We all do know what to do, and we all will get there, no matter how long it takes, so long as we don't give up.

Have a great day.

I'll be checking in the Villas in 36 days! :woohoo:

Good morning everybody!

I'm happy to saw that I've been eating very well this week, and will finish the week with flex points left over, and not using up any activity points. I know there's still 2 days left, but I'm promising myself to do it. I was hot and sweaty when I got home from work yesterday, and got my exercise time in right away instead of going for a shower first. I knew if I went for a shower and left exercising until after dinner I wouldn't do it. I was doing the WiiFit. DD7 brought out my plain stepper and was standing on it doing the hulahooping and basic stepping with me. Then DD4 had to have a turn doing the stepping. They were cute!:goodvibes
I got an add-on base for the WiiFit which raises it up 3inches. It really makes a difference for the stepping and boxing ones. It also messes up the weights. I was curious about it, so I weighed in with it on the floor and on the base; there was a 7lb difference

Glad people enjoyed the quotes. I'll try to add different ones next week.

Ooh, I didn't know about the WiiFit add-on piece. Interesting...We used ours for about 2 months, and now it's just for DD to practice her jumping. She loves to walk around the "back," get on it, bend her legs like preparing for a dive, and jump off.

:lmao: at least its still getting use!
We just got the add-on piece last week, I hadn't seen it before then. It definitely makes the workout more difficult. Have you tried any of the other exercise things for the WiiFit? I've got a Jillian Michaels one, and it is a harder worker, but worse instructions and worse graphics. The nice thing about Jillian's is that you pick the time, and then it just sends you through a bunch of exercises without all the stopping in between that happens with the WiiFit.

Woo hoo!!

Wednesday QOTD: With dieting comes finding "alternative" foods that remind you of foods you can't eat much of or are not healthy. What is your favorite "alternative" food.

Mine is a homemade receeses - Take 80% dark chocolate or higher and add healthy peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter or any other nut butter and spread. Make sure your peanut butter only has nuts and salt - don't get the kind that have sugar and oils in them.

Okay, I love Reese's and your alternative sounds good, I'll have try it.
This is a fantastic question and I hope to learn from other's answers.

Unfortunately, the main food I'm missing is coca-cola; I've taken to drinking diet coke & adding lime, and its just not as good. I know its not good for me, but I don't drink coffee, I just get my caffeine from the pop.
Another not so great food, is hot dogs, the chicken weiners have much less calories than the beef ones, but neither is really very nutritious.
Other than that, I'm mostly eating the same foods as always, just adjusting portions. I tried low-fat cheese and it was just yucky, so I'd rather have a little bit of the real stuff.

Nice work on the eating. Two days left, I'm sure you can do it.
How do you like the wii fit? My son is saving up and almost there to buy half of the wii, and I told him I'd buy the other half, but am thinking about getting the wii fit, which I hear is about 80$ more. Is that all you need, or do you need to get other games and stuff to go with it? I hear the dance dance revolution is really fun. If you need other games, what do you reccommend?

That sounds sooo good. My favorite would be frozen yogurt in stead of ice cream. I also like the ww ice cream treats, mainly the giant fudge bars.
Fiberone chocolate oat bars or special K chocolate peanutbutter bars instead of a candy bar at the movies.
I also bring my own microwave 94%ff popcorn to the movies now. At amc movies theaters, it's even allowed now.

I got out and walked again this morning, and tomorrow I am not working, so I'm going to bring my son for a half day at camp, and get out for another walk. Not so stellar in the eating, but maintaining so far on the scale.

QOTD - I really like FF sour cream! It adds a lot of flavor for little calories.

I am a bit bummed right now. I was supposed to be weighing in but due to a lady at work calling in sick I get to stay at work so I will be here 16 hours again today (I worked 16 yesterday too). What's worse is that my meeting is closing and this was the last day! I think I will go to one in the next town over that is meeting tomorrow so I can at least weigh in this week!

Sarah

Kathy,
I enjoy the WiiFit. You need one controller (which will come with the Wii) and one nunchuk (which might not). So far I mostly do the aerobic exercises in WiiFit and occasionally Balance ones. The balance and aerobic ones are set up as competitions, so I like trying to improve my scores. I like that it tracks the amount of time you exercise, and I use it for tracking my weight. It is quite low, so the step aerobics is not much of a step. The boxing also involves stepping on and off the WiiFit. The new base I got was $30 (canadian) and makes those more challenging. The hulahoop exercise is also very enjoyable.
I highly recommend buying WiiPlay which comes with a controller, usually for about the cost of buying a controller by itself.
You will want to have 2 controllers and 2 nunchuks, so you and your son can play games together. WiiSports usually comes with the Wii and you can get an exercise just by playing that one.

Wow, you work a lot of long hours.
Maybe the new meeting will give you some fresh perspective? (just trying to find something positive in the situation :goodvibes)

Oh yeah, it will be fine. I didn't quite click with my meeting leader, but it was sooooo much more convienent then driving 20 miles to the other meeting. It's all good.

Sarah

Thanks for the Wii info Shannon. My nephew has the wii, and michael loves to play it, and we have had some fun playing with them. They don't have the wii fit, but I think I'd like to get that too. Once school starts up, my exercise usually is exercise dvds, so I think the wii will be awesome. My ww leader loves hers too, and she hates to exercise. I'm hoping to buy it on our vacation at the end of august.

Sarah- hope you got some sleep after such long days, and that you make it to your meeting and have a great weighin. It is frustrating when you are forced to stay extra, rather than wanting to do it. You should plan something special for yourself with your extra money next paycheck. (I hope you're not salaried or that would really bite.)

Have a great pre-weighin day!! I'm drinking plenty of fluids, hope to see the scale move down a spec tomorrow.

Tuesday QOTD: What's your favorite Disney hotel and why?

Well, I'd like to say AKV since we own there, but we haven't stayed there yet! We have visited and I think we'll like it a lot. My favorite that I've already stayed at would have to be Pop Century. It may not be DVC, but the food court is the best! I decided they should turn the unfinished half of Pop into "Value DVC Villas". They would be kind of like the family suites at All Star Music, but have a full kitchen. They could rent them in the bottom end of the points range, and people would rent them to stretch their points and be able to take more trips, or just because they love Pop!

Wednesday QOTD: What is your favorite "alternative" food?

Probably sugar-free syrup. I couldn't imagine having to give up waffles and french toast just because the syrup has so many calories.

I'm really struggling this week and not staying OP very well. I'm blaming it on my TOM causing cravings, but I hope that's really all it is. I also was sick 2 nights ago and my stomach is still all bloated up with air, and I think I'm just grasping for things that might make me feel better. I'm living on Maalox and eating stuff I shouldn't. I had a Bagelful for breakfast, and then followed it with a cream horn because I still had milk left in my glass! That was 6 points I didn't need! :headache: I went to the store yesterday and bought more fruits and veggies, so I'm going to try to stick with those for the rest of the day!
