BL Summer Challenge 2009

Good Saturday Morning

HAppy Birthday to Lisa (and her son), Melanie and Sarah:bday:party:

Kathy Good Luck now that you are back at work. You have a lot on your mind with everything so try to find a couple of minutes each day for yourself.

Friday's QOTD I couldn't decide between MK or Epcot but I think I have to go with MK. My first Disney park was on my honeymoon in 1978. We went to DL and MK reminds me of that first week of marriage. (Yes I will be celebrating my 31st anniv in Aug.)

Saturday's Question of the Day What tool in the kitchen helps you the most in the kitchen? The more you cook at home the less you eat out and the better the food will be for you.

For me it would have to be the crock pot. I don't use it during the week because dh doesn't like it plugged in when we are not home. I may have one or two running on Sunday to put meals in the frig and the freezer for the week.

What is everyone planning to do this weekend? We don't have many plans yet. I have to go and renew our mobil phone plan today. Taking ds's with me. I have to write a letter of recommendation for one of my students. Church and grocery shopping tomorrow. Other than that nothing else is planned for this weekend.

Keep up the hard work everyone, whether you lost or didn't lose.

I'm down a tad, not enough to really count. The TM parts came, so we scheduled for Monday. You have to give them an 8 hr. window, so I'm having a sick day. This sick day will prevent many more in the future! Maria :upsidedow

It sounds more like a health day to me . . . ;) I know you will be glad when your TM is fixed.

NSV = Non Scale Victory!:goodvibes

I just had another one too. Someone brought in pizza today and I decided to have 2 pieces (normally I would have 4-5)...after eating the 2 pieces I am STUFFED!!!! And I mean really really full! I never thought 2 pieces of pizza could do that to me! I attribute it to eating small snacks/meals often so I haven't really had a large meal in a while.

Later Gators
Sarah

Isn't it amazing at how quickly your body adjusts when you do the right thing and eat right? It sounds like you are able to listen to your body's signals better than before. Hope that you had a great birthday yesterday (and didn't work a big, long shift) and congratulations on the NSV (I like that new term!)

Thanks for all the birthday wishes!

MelanieC, sounds like you have a good plan and a real shot at hitting your goal before you go on vacation.

Kathy, to you. This is such a hard time in your life while you adjust to life without your Mom. I will be thinking of you.

I'm a big fan of my crockpot, too. I love to start dinner in the morning and have it waiting when I get home. I love my blender, too, to make delicious smoothies for breakfast now that it is berry season.

My sister is visiting so we will go out on the boat for awhile this morning. Then a nap and birthday dinner at the Coeur d'Alene Resort tonight. Tomorrow will be a quiet day with church and getting ready for another week and another round of guests next week-end.

Have a great week-end all!

Coach needed for 7/24-7/30

I have a coaching slot open for 7/24 through 7/30. If you are interested, please PM me. Thanks!

Question of the Day If you had one day in DW and could only go to 1 park which park would it be?
MK. It has always been my favorite.

Congrats on the new pants Sarah!

I am up again this week. Since I am on vacation and I am staying with family that eats out almost every night, I am not too disappointed. It could be a lot worse. We are headed to Chicago tomorrow for a week so I know that we will be eating out every meal:scared1: I have some healthy snacks packed for the trip, so that will help I hope.

Happy Birthday Lisah0711:bday:

Thanks, Angie, for the birthday wishes. And thank you MelanieC for filling our coaching spot! :flower3:

Well trust me to get the BL of the week clippie the week my internet is down. In all fairness, the only reason I lost so much (10 pounds) is because I had tonsillitis and couldn't eat so I didn't really earn it through diet and exercise.

This week I have put 3 pounds back on but I am comfortable with that because I lost so much and I honestly thought I would put it all back on. I am now 1 pound away from my 5% goal.

Hopefully, I will kick that pound this week.

How are you feeling? Is the tonsillitis over or is there some lingering problems that you have to take care of?

Good SUnday morning everyone. How is everyone feeling this morning? It is another glorious day here in jersey. We had a good thunderstorm last night but the skies are clearing up nicely and we are getting ready for a great day.

I am waiting for ds1 to wake and have breakfast so that we can go grocery shopping. My two sons have agreed to cook one night each for the rest of the summer. Add on the one night a week we do pizza and I am on a great vacation. Ds2 is planning to use the crock pot so that he can practice for school next year when he has an appartment.

Sunday Question of the Day Have you tried a new healthy food lately?

I have tried Greek nonfat yogurt. It is very thick and could easily be used for sour cream.

Have a great Sunday everyone. If you haven't gotten your weight to Luvbaloo please do so as soon as possible. IF anyone has any COW points please send them to me.

Sunday Question of the Day Have you tried a new healthy food lately?

I've started eating Klondike Slim-a-Bear bars. I was surprised at how much more I like them than Skinny Cow. They're a little smaller, but they taste much better. It's 100 calories of goodness!

Good morning!

I think I have ended up a little bit "overtrained" this week. Just exhausted over here. SO today and tomorrow will be "rest days" inasmuch as I can manage that. The dog still needs a walk. The kids still need food. Etc. But no training until Tuesday or Wednesday. I just piled on WAY too much last week.

Sunday Question of the Day: Have you tried a new healthy food lately?

The newest is Agave Nectar. And OK, it is still a sugar, but it is sweeter than sugar so you use less and it is absorbed slowly and does not cause the same kind of peaks and valleys most sugars do. Or so it claims. Anyway, I have been using it in baking and cooking (mostly for the kids) for the past week and it seems to be just great! I like a drop or two in my plain Greek Yogurt as well.

Sunday Question of the Day Have you tried a new healthy food lately?

We went to the Amish Market in Annapolis, MD yesterday for Amish Days. I really wanted some Pork BBQ, but knew that the bun alone was probably 350 calories. So I bought some of the Pork BBQ in a container and brought it home to use on my newest find -- Arnold Sandwich Thins -- only 100 calories per bun. So tonight I will enjoy my BBQ without so much guilt.

Good morning, losers! :goodvibes

Storm clouds are moving in today in Idaho. A little cold front will come through and give us a few thunderstorms and drop the highs to the 60's tomorrow. It will be sunny again later in the week so it is nice to have a little storm come through -- less lawn watering!

Sunday Question of the Day Have you tried a new healthy food lately?

Disney1990, I just tried those Arnold's Sandwich Thins lately, too. I love them -- whole grain and they keep for much longer than bread or buns. Even DH is using them for sandwiches and hamburgers now.

Maria, I will have to try the Klondike ice cream bars. I've been enjoying just plain old sugar free popsicles and fat free fudsicles, too, this summer.

donac, I think you should add your DH to the cooking list, too -- mine is always willing to grill. It is good to for your sons to know how to cook healthy meals for themselves even when they are away from home.

Have a great day everyone!

I walked another 4.5 miles yesterday burning a little over 400 calories - but then we went to Red Robin (DD17 had a friend over).

Uggh - I think I undid the almost 9 miles I did the past two days.

Planning on at least 400 miles again today, want to add a little more - but it's hard on the weekends. Hoping I can do the morning, lunch and after works starting tomorrow.

How are you feeling? Is the tonsillitis over or is there some lingering problems that you have to take care of?

Sunday Question of the Day Have you tried a new healthy food lately?

Well, I was feeling better but tonight my throat is hurting again and I am really worried the tonsillitis is coming back (Can it even do that?).

It was so horrible. I couldn't eat but even worse I didn't want to eat. My appetite is never affected even when I am ill. Still I suppose it's better than being hungry and still not being able to eat. Also, I usually drink 1.5 litre bottle of water a day. The bottle I had when I was ill lasted a whole week and I got dehydrated which was awful.

Anyway, onto nicer stuff. QOTD. I recently tried the WW bread, which I thought would be horrendous but was really tasty and also WW sausages. I am really fussy about sausages as well so that is really saying something.

I am hoping that this week I will be able to stay OP, if my throat holds up. I guess if it doesn't I will lose weight anyway. I really want to get back into my exercise program though. I think the exercise is the thing that will make a difference for me.

I'm also a fan of the Arnold sandwich thins. We use them instead of buns with hamburgers, salmon burgers, turkey burgers, and for all our sandwiches. The entire family likes them, so it's a blessing! When I was doing diet bread, I was the only one who would eat it.

Maria :upsidedow

I bought some of the Arnold Sandwich Thins and then when I got them home, looked at the label and realized they had Splenda in them. WHY?? Why on earth would they need to add artificial sweetener to bread products? I have noticed this on some "high fiber" tortillas as well lately - very frustrating for the few sad ones of us out here who don't get along well with the artificial sweeteners. :sad1:

Sorry.

I know that Pepperidge Farms also makes some of these called Deli Flats. Try looking at their ingredients.

I am also a fan of those flat sandwich breads. I will take a frozen soy sausage patty (80 calories) and microwave it for 40 secs. THen slice it in half so that I have 2 patties. They may be skinny patties but they are 2 patties. I then put them in a non stick skillet to finish cooking and scramble an egg. I toast a flat bread and make my own breakfast sandwich. Very tasty and not as many calories as McDonald. A great way to start the day.

Since everyone is talking breads - my breads of choice are Ezekiel sprouted grain breads - LOVE THEM! They have breads, buns, english muffins, tortillas, corn tortillas - just love love love them!

Something New I've tried is fresh beets - I've been shredding them and just slicing them and putting them in salads. I can't say they are my favorite - I hated them as a kid - but they are good for you, so I've been eating them. I've even tried them in a green (well it turned brown because the green and pink (from the beet) made brown), lol! I didn't like it in the smoothie!

Me and DD17 walked 4.17 miles today burning around 430 calories. I am meeting a friend tomorrow morning at 6am to walk before work. Food was good today.

For the question of the day--I have recently been eating blueberries with my kids-- never ate them b4, but my kids love them.

Yesterday I went 30 minutes on the elipticle and did some weights, today I jumped in the pool a few times with the kids...no laps or anything :headache:.. but I was bad yesterday had 2 cocktails (one with vodka & lemons, the othe with a strawberry frozen stuff & vodka) that's why I didn't workout this morning-head hurt bad!...back on it tomorrow though!!

Good Monday Morning everyone. How was eeryone's weekend. I never did get to go grocery shopping and I need to do it this morning.

It is pretty quiet this morning. No one has to go to work today so I even turned off the alarm. Even with that I was up at 6:30 and ds2 was up at 7.

Monday Question of the Day

What is your favorite ride in Epcot?

Have a great day everyone. WIll be back later
