BL Summer Challenge 2009

Can you tell me more about OOB? DS and I are going there for our Mother/Son weekend this summer. We may camp if we can find a good place. But I am concerned about finding parking near the beach during the day. It may be easier to just stay in a hotel right along the beach. I don't know much about the area. We made a quick stop one day during this past April vacation to just walk the beach while we were in Maine with DH on a business trip (he works up there frequently) and DS saw all of the rides and arcades and went NUTS!! So it seemed like a great place to spend a few days. Got any great ideas or suggestions (camp grounds, restaurants, etc)? Guess I should have PM'd you... sorry to everyone for hijacking a bit here!!......................P
It is an awesome place. I sent you a pm.

My sister and her family are in town for the week, so we've been very busy hanging out with them. (There are six of them staying with us!)

When I don't have people camped out in my living room, I get up at 6 am and do Wii Fit. I also weigh myself on Wii Fit, every day. (I don't want to, I just can't resist :lmao:)

Anyway, since I'm not doing Wii this week I'm getting up and going for a walk. It's a nice change of pace, but the humidity and the mosquitos make me miss my living room.

That said, I'm really curious how the walking is going to compare to the Wii Fit workout I've been doing. Wonder if I'll loose more or less weight this week?

Ok, done rambling. I'm just so darn curious to weigh myself. I won't be able to weigh until Sat. morning, so my PM with weekly weight will be a day late this time...

I'm just getting back on the DIS - it's been a busy and long 2 days. Left home Tuesday at 7am and I'm just getting on here at 11 pm Wednesday Los Angeles time. All work trip, so I just glance longingly at all the DL billboards! :rotfl: I went on my trip with the best healthy intentions, but haven't been able to stay anywhere near plan. I've started each day with a healthy breakfast and some exercise, but that's about it. Stressful meetings, dinners on the town, adult beverages... *sigh* I hope to be more on plan the next 2 days of our trip, but will definitely be hard core back on plan once I return home.

QOTD Tuesday - non-Disney vacation?
Hawaii. DH and I went there twice through work before we were married. We had enough days off to enjoy some sightseeing, the beach, food, etc.

QOTD Wednesday - Fave activity?
This is bad that I can't think of anything. I love vacations and traveling. I like doing active things that don't feel like exercise - talking walks with friends, hiking, etc. I've always loved singing and dancing, but have a hard time working those into my life now.

Good afternoon, losers! We have been a quiet group but it looks like most of the WISH boards are quiet, too. I am sure it is because we are all working hard and getting ready for weigh-in and COW reporting tomorrow. :goodvibes

Please be sure and PM your info to LuvBaloo and donac tomorrow.

I thought that this group might be interested in this article from SparkPeople called what does 300 calories really look like? It is a good reminder about portion size. http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutrition_articles.asp?id=1260

Have a great day, losers and good luck for weigh-in tomorrow.

Good Thursday afternoon. I am running short on time today but will post the resuults from COW 2 tomorrow. I have to get showered and got to NAtional Honor Society Induction at my school tonight.

Sometime this weekend please pm your COW 3 points to me.

On Friday 6/19/09 send me

XX days of steps or exercise
XX days of 5 minutes doing something you like to do
XX days eating 2 servings of dairy or its equivalent

XX new exercise routine

Thanks and enjoy the COW

Do you do not have to do the entire COW. You can do bits and pieces of it that work into your plan. It is just there to motivate you and to help you think about developing new habits. THis will be a progressive thing. As the weeks go on I will be adding to these new habits

I am just a little :sad1: this morning since we would have been on the plane by now but luckily DL will be there for us in August.

I'm so bummed for you right now! Just think though ... the anticipation gets to build all over again!

I do belong to the YMCA, but it is 30 minutes away. I go regularly during winter swim season, since DD is on the swim team, but I don't do that drive if I don't have to any other time. I can walk outside when/if I want, since we live in a great neighborhood for that, but I find it very boring. I think that I would enjoy some sort of dance aerobics or step aerobics class, but I haven't found a DVD like that. I agree that some Disney music in the background would definitely help. A few times when I was walking during a break at work I borrowed DS's MP3 player and he has great Disney tunes on it!

I have to listen to something when I work out, to distract myself--otherwise I keep thinking "How much longer?" over an over again! Lately--when I'm working on the machine--I've been queuing up two half-hour TV shows on my laptop, and I tell myself that I can't get done until the shows are over. Then I get my TV time in, too! When I do workout tapes, I generally play my music over the instruction.

Count me in, for being amazed at how much some foods are worth in WW. DH and I used to get Quizno's subs sometimes, and I was thinking its better than McD, but the sub I liked would be 40 pts :scared1: and I could eat at McD for less than half of those points.:scared1:

Yikes! Thanks for the Quizno's tip ... I love that place so I'd better watch it!

My sister and her family are in town for the week, so we've been very busy hanging out with them. (There are six of them staying with us!)

Six! Wow! Hope you're having a great time with them!

Have a great day, losers and good luck for weigh-in tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing that--what an eye-opener!

Today is basically the first day in three or four that I've been able to touch the computer--my day job and motherhood have kept me so busy! I didn't even have time to put my BL sign in my sig, and my "reign" is almost over! :lmao: But thanks for the congratulations, everybody! I'm not dropping the pounds nearly as fast as I did last week, but I am dropping a little. Regardless of what the scale says, I'm really driven just by the fact that I've proven that I can stick with a diet and lose some weight. I'm prepared for the tough times ahead, at least with the support on this thread!

GL to everyone on the next weigh-in ... say it with me! We can do it! We will do it!

Well, it's been fun being your coach. Sorry I haven't been around more, still trying to get everything packed up and ready for when I close on my house next week!

I did get to WI tonight and I ended up losing 2.6 pounds! Guess all that activity packing has paid off.

Shoot, I came to the library to get on the computer just to see if I made #1, and I'm #2! Oh well, not too bad.

My power cord broke on my laptop, so I'm without a computer til I get the new cord from Dell. It will probably come while I'm on vacation next week, so that means no computer for another week! I can get on-line on my phone, but it's kind of a pain with the little screen and tiny keys. I'll probably get on some next week though because we're just camping at Indiana Beach, so I'll have lots of time on my hands.

I don't have time to read through all the QOTD that I've missed, but I hope everybody had a good week. I didn't work out this past week because my sister and her kids have been visiting. They leave tomorrow at noon, so hopefully I'll get back on track. I weighed in at WW yesterday and was down another 1.4, so I was thrilled with that since I haven't been exercising. I should get lots of activity in next week at the campground. I'm hoping to hit my 5% goal when I weigh in next week, which means I have to lose 2.4#.

It's a sad day for the Dis Boards Community due to the loss of long time moderator and technical guy, Caskbill. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=32240353#post32240353
He was a great resource and asset to our community and will be greatly missed. This sad situation is a good reminder of the importance of living for each day because it may be your last. RIP Caskbill.

It is always sad to lose a member of the family, even if we aren't related

Hi gang I just want to let you all know that this week I lost 4 1/2 pounds. which puts me at 194 pounds. down from 198 last week . I have been walking at lunch most of the week exept yesterday and Wendsday because it rained. and I was using my Mom's Treadmill . I will be on Vacation which will allow me to go to the park at least 2 days next week . I will have next weeks weigh-in on Next Friday afternoon. Have A Great weekend:thumbsup2

I'm so sorry to hear that. That is such a good reminder to live for each day because it may be your last. It helps me remember to treasure every day i have with my mom right now too. We're probably driving her crazy.:rotfl:

I haven't been around much this week either, but I have thought of you and this challenge, through the week. I'm still getting up and doing my exercise, and I have been ok in the eating dept. I did have ice cream for lunch with my mom on wednesday after her doctor's appointment, and it was very therapeutic for both of us. But it was a meal, right? I'm actually down 1.2 from last weeks gain, so happy with that. I'm at 197, and I do not want to see 200 again, no, I will not see 200 again.

We went and saw my nephew before his prom last night, and took some pics, and the graduation is sunday. I'm bringing fruit salad and a ww trifle to the party, but it will be a challenging day. My sister is making oatmeal carmelitas, which we haven't had in ages, and they are pretty much butter, sugar, caramel and chocolate. If I can control myself with just one, I'll be good. I think I'm going to have a few glasses of wine- chocolate and wine don't do it for me.

Hope everyone is having a good week, and good luck on weighins this morning.

Congrats spacemtnfan!! 4 and a half pounds is amazing!! Keep up the good work.:thumbsup2

Thanks luvbaloo for keeping the weights, dona for running the cow, Jessi for coaching this week, and everyone for the support and inspiration. We all can be successful in this journey. One day at a time!

Have a wonderful weekend fellow losers!!

We have been having modem/router problems this week so I haven't had the time to be on the boards much but have been thinking of everyone.

SpaceMtnFan - Great job on your loss this week.

I had another week of maintaining and again know what I've got to do to get in gear, just haven't been doing it.

Congrat's to all the superstars this past week, keep up the great work and for the ones that are along with me that didn't make the list, let's work that much harder this week to see our names on there next week.

No time to go back and answer the QOTD's but enjoyed skimming the responses.

Nothing major planned for the weekend here but several things on the to-do list that needs to be marked off.

Have a great day everyone!!

Morning to all! I don't have much time to talk, but wanted to report that I am up just a tiny bit (.6) this week. I'm not overly upset because I had a GREAT loss last week and it is definitely ovulation bloat (sorry if that is TMI). I could feel it coming on last night... wish I had weighed myself yesterday morning. But it will be gone by next week. I ate well and exercised well all week, so I'm feeling okay about it.

I have a busy weekend out of town mostly, but I have planned several of my meals and will be bringing along some of my own food to help me stay OP. I will throw my exercise sneakers in my bag and hopefully get in at least a few vigorous walks. If I don't have time to talk I will see you all again on Monday......P

My thoughts and Prayers go out to the friends and family of Caskbill. He will be missed God bless you all

Morning Loosers. I've been burried at work so I haven't been on much this week (though I've been peeking in to read when I can).

I'm down .5 this week....and very glad of it, since I'd been relying heavily on restaurant food. I'm taking time to pack a lunch this morning...even if it means I'm late! :lmao:

My plans for the weekend....patiently waiting for 9:01PM Sat night so I can book Palo and excursions for my September cruise! :woohoo:

I have to work for four hours on Sunday to help man the phones. TODAY is digital TV conversion day and we'll be getting a jillion phone calls at the station when people suddenly can't get a picture. So today a mess of us 'helpers' will get a whopping 15 minute training to hopefully be able to help viewers with their questions today and over the weekend. With my non-teckie brain, I may be just keeping them calm while waiting for one of the tech ops people to be free to talk to them...:lmao:

.

Good morning everyone - I'm your BL coach for the week :)

I hope everyone had big loses and don't forget to send your WI to LuvBaloo (even if you gained or maintained)!

I have an announcement to make. Now don't fall off your computer chair, cuz it's monumental for me and I haven't been able to accomplish this monster for a while out of laziness and being in a rut.

I got up and walked/ran yesterday morning and this morning for 50 min yesterday and 55 today!!!

Woo hoo - Go me!!

But because I did this when I came home today I went into the kitchen and made a fruit/veggie smoothie, went up and drank it before realizing I didn't WI. I will WI in the morning and PM LuvBaloo tomorrow. I was so dissapointed when I went in and realized I hadn't done it, and of course the smoothie was pretty heavy with all the veggies in fruit so it wouldn't have paid to use what it was after eating.

Here is what was in my smoothie. 1 kiwi, 1 granny smith apple, 1/2 small avocado, spinach and carrots. It wasn't super sweet so next time I might try a banana to sweeten it up, but it was sorta sweet and not bad at all. People with texture issues might have a problem. I made it with my kitchen aid blender, but I've been trying to get hubby to get me a Vita Mix. Still working on that. I think it would have been smoother in the vita mix.

Also afterwards I had a piece of fruit that I have never bought...........but I'm in LOVE now. This is hands down the best piece of fruit I have ever eaten. I swear it's more like candy that is how good it is. I'm going to research to see how healthy it - but I swear I want to eat them all day long now, lol. It was a Medjool Date........and oh my goodness was it the best. I'd heard of them before and I see them in a lot of the whole food bar's I eat like Cliff Nectar Bars and Larabars. I thought I'd see what they were about so I thought I'd see if they were at Wholefoods. There was two huge boxes of them and they were $7.99 a pound, so I grabbed a handful. They only cost about $2 for about 6 or 7 of them, so I don't think that was too bad.

Here is a website that gives the nutritional info:
http://www.medjooldates.com/nutrition.html

I also wanted to tell you all about this person on the clean eating forum who was looking at my eats this past week and noticed I really wasn't eating much in the way of fruits and veggies. She was right. The fruit in my occasional smoothies or the bit of onions or tomato thrown in here and there really wasn't cutting it. So I was heading to Whole foods that night and ended up bying mostly produce. It was pricey though because I bought all Organic fruits and veggies, and I'm sure when DH see's it he will freak a little, but I've increased my fruits and veggies so much in the past few days. I've even noticed DH, and DD17 & DS11 eating more fruits and veggies so that is a good thing.

Well, it's been fun being your coach. Sorry I haven't been around more, still trying to get everything packed up and ready for when I close on my house next week!

I did get to WI tonight and I ended up losing 2.6 pounds! Guess all that activity packing has paid off.

Thanks Eeyores Butterfly for coaching last week!!:love:

Woo hoo - 2.6 is awesome!! way to go. Have fun (if that is possible) packing up this week. That in itself can be good exercise.

Good Thursday afternoon. I am running short on time today but will post the resuults from COW 2 tomorrow. I have to get showered and got to NAtional Honor Society Induction at my school tonight.

But I did want to list the new COW for the up soming week.

I don't normally do the cow, as I usually don't have enough time in the week to put it all together, but I'm going to give it a shot this week :)

Shoot, I came to the library to get on the computer just to see if I made #1, and I'm #2! Oh well, not too bad.
I weighed in at WW yesterday and was down another 1.4, so I was thrilled with that since I haven't been exercising. I should get lots of activity in next week at the campground. I'm hoping to hit my 5% goal when I weigh in next week, which means I have to lose 2.4#.

Woo hoo on the 1.4. Keep at it, I don't think I've ever been number 1 either except the time I did bad one week and lost what I gained the next.

It's a sad day for the Dis Boards Community due to the loss of long time moderator and technical guy, Caskbill. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=32240353#post32240353

ooh that is awful. My prayers and thoughts are with his family.

Woo hoo - your losses amaze me. I'd die if I ever lost 4.5 pounds in one week. I eek that out in a month usually. Keep up the great work :)

I'm still getting up and doing my exercise, and I have been ok in the eating dept. I did have ice cream for lunch with my mom on wednesday after her doctor's appointment, and it was very therapeutic for both of us. But it was a meal, right? Woo hoo on the 1.2 and getting into the 197's! Yeah on never seeing the 200's again - kiss the 200's good bye :) Good luck at the party - you can do it.

We have been having modem/router problems this week so I haven't had the time to be on the boards much but have been thinking of everyone.

I had another week of maintaining and again know what I've got to do to get in gear, just haven't been doing it.

Nothing major planned for the weekend here but several things on the to-do list that needs to be marked off.

Hope your modem/router problems get better. Hang in there - I know maintaining can suck, but at least your doing something right because you didn't gain.

Morning to all! I don't have much time to talk, but wanted to report that I am up just a tiny bit (.6) this week. Yuck - hate the bloat. Hang in there, I know you'll see the loss you should have had this week. Have a great weekend and good job on planning and bringing some of your meals.

Morning Loosers. I've been burried at work so I haven't been on much this week (though I've been peeking in to read when I can).

Yeah for the loss even though you had too much restaurant food. Proves you were consciously eating when you were. Woo hoo and good luck on Saturday - glad your Palo booking time is almost here.
