Question of the day - Friday:

What can you do to make it (losing weight) easier?
(Based on Thursday's question - What is the hardest part about losing weight?)

I can eat in rather than eating out. That is what makes it easier for me. It is sooo easy to pick a favorite restaurant and choosing what is on the menu whether it is the right or wrong for me. At home, I select what goes on the table. Healthy choices, but I still need to moderate the portion sizes. Not doing too well in that department. I am still eating like it is my last meal because it is all so good.

Despite it all, I am down 1.8 lbs this week:banana: Work has slowed down so I am not getting exercise that way, but I did do a good 75 minutes on the Wii yesterday.

Congrats to all the losers & maintainers. You can do it this week gainers!!!

Red Team ... go :cheer2: go :cheer2: go:cheer2:

I'm down 3.6 pounds this week. Yipee!!! I'm hoping next week I'll be able to get my 50 pound clippie but it may be a stretch to lose another 3 pounds. No matter, I know I'll get it sooner or later.

Great job! Go for that clippie:jumping3:

Good Morning all,

I did not have any weight loss last week, but I didn't gain either. I guess that's good.

Hoping for better numbers this week.

Good luck this week.

Well, I DID get to the gym last night! Yeah! It's one of those complex goals--yes, ultimately I want to lose weight, but I can take the victory daily by doing cardio 6 days a week. I'm really shooting for a full hour rather than an "almost" hour.

What can I do to make losing weight easier? Keep my hands busy. My worst time is in the evenings in front of the TV. If I pick up some needlework, I can't both eat and stitch.

My biggest challenge--my head wants chocolate. Note--I said my head. My tummy doesn't necessarily want it, and I'm not hungry. However, chocolate speaks to something inside me. Gotta silence that voice!

Good morning Red Team!! I lost 1.6 lbs this week. :yay: My goal for this week is to do some kind of activity at least 30 min a day, and to drink all my water! These seem to be the things I have trouble with. I am eating better and making better choices, but haven't gotten control of the being lazy.

I will be participating in the BL Cow, but I can't seem to wear a pedometer, they keep falling off, so I will not do that one. Good luck this week Red team.

Morning everyone!

I took my older to boys to their first swim lesson this morning. Lessons are at the indoor pool at the rec center down the road from us. We have lived here for 10 years and this is only the second time I have been inside.

Well, while they were doing lessons, I decided to look around then took a tour and everything to see what they have to offer. It looks promising. I'm thinking of joining. DH gets a discount since he is a county employee, but it is incredibly reasonably priced anyway. There are early morning and later evening water aerobics classes I could do, weight room, racket ball courts, etc. And the personal trainer sessions are only $30 per hour. I would definetly sign up for a few of those to get myself started.

Much to think about. My Curves membership expires in November, so DH and I will talk about a family membership to the rec center then.

Just thought I'd share. Checking in and posting will hopefully keep me in check today.;)

I don't have the best luck wearing a pedometer either. (I actually think I haven't found the right pedometer for me...) If you walk on a treadmill, you can do what I did- I counted the steps it takes to walk .1 miles and then figure out how many miles I need to walk to get my steps in. This way I know I'm for sure getting in 6000 steps in on the treadmill and everything after that is a bonus. :)

That's great Laura. Funny how life works that way, eh? New places, starts when you least expect it.

Congrats on your week.

I'm sick. I do awful when I'm sick. When I can't work out - well I eat more because I'm pissed off. Not exactly productive. :rolleyes1 Throw that in with PMS and not a great week so far. popcorn::

Hope everyone is doing well.

Okay, so I'm checking my e-mail this morning and about to delete the Hobby Lobby ad when at the bottom this quote catches my eye...

I though it was a great quote...very thought provoking...so I wanted to share it.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

How has everyone's weekend went? I hope everyone is having a fantastic one!

My weekend was a busy one, but I think that keeping busy really helps my eating. If I'm bored, I start eating. Yesterday I left the house at 7:15am, had about 45 min home at lunch, back out the door and home at 7pm. Today wasn't quite as busy, but there haven't been many moments to relax.

How's everyone doing on the COW? (that name cracks me up!) I've done the quiz, have 3 of the 4 days of 6000 steps completed, wrote the letter to myself, have 2 of the water days fulfilled, and have maxxed points out for parking the farthest away from my destination. The hardest has been the water, which I already knew...didn't make it on Friday, but I'm making a comeback!!! The COW certainly is making me thinking about what I do everyday, and is helping keep me on track. Hope it is doing the same for everyone else...I know last week was a really hard one for me.

Now let's all stay on focus and show the blue and black teams what we're capable of!!!:cheer2: We can do it!!!

Hello Red Team! Congratulations on another week completed!!! Even if you didn't lose, you are focusing on your health and that is a POSITIVE thing. Keep it up and you WILL see results.

I was a no-show for weigh in last week :upsidedow I had promised to weigh in early, before we left on vacation, but then DS11 woke up with an absessed tooth hours before our flight and I didn't weigh in! He distracted me ;) Luckily we found a dentist who would see him, it was a holiday here, an it was a baby tooth that was already loose, so they pulled it and he was ready to fly to Jordan with us a few hours later!

We just got back and I will take a peek at my weight in the morning. I didn't do great on food, many, many buffets. But it was WAY better than it would have been a few months ago. I did have dessert almost every day, but I also got in LOTS of veggies. That is one good thing about the Middle East, there are always veggies and beans:banana:

I took my pedometer with me but only remembered it one day and that day my DS8 talked me into letting him wear it  That was the day that we walked from 9a.m- 6p.m at Petra. He had 27,000+ steps on that thing. No Kidding. My feet are still hurting, that was Friday. I'm sure he walked more than me and he definitely climbed more than me, but I kept up very well this trip. The only walking/climbing I didn't do was to climb up these huge rock formations with the boys. I had on bad shoes that day and I'm afraid of heights. I did climb a sand dune to be able to find them on the rocks. Out of the 4 days, two I got a lot of excercise. It will be interesting to see what the scale shows!

I'm looking forward to the COW! I took the quiz and am waiting on the results.

Good luck this week everyone!
Katy

I got in over 10000 steps today! I have a double at work tomorrow so will not be able to get that much in but will try to get as many steps in as I can. I went on a walk with my mom tonight and didn't even get winded going up the hill while talking! My lungs are in way better shape than they were 3 months ago! I have been parking far away at every opportunity and have had at least 6 bottles of water everyday. I wrote the letter and took the quiz, so things are going well! Hope everyone else is doing well. I have a good friend of mine living with me right now and she is a vegetarian so I have eaten sooooooo many more vegetables the past 8 days it is just crazy! The past two nights I have eaten parsnip borritos! No kidding! And they were actually really good! Go figure!:confused3

Question of the Day Monday

How do you handle all the temptations that occur during the weekend?

Hi Team! I've missed the last two weigh ins because my internet crashed on the 20th, but I'm back now! No change in my weight the last two weeks - which I am 100% okay with, since all my kids birthdays just passed and we had lots of party things going on here. I'm hoping for a big loss this weekend!

Everyone has been doing GREAT - good job! Loved reading all the threads and catching up!

Question of the day - I try really hard to not place myself into situations that will require me to face temptations. If I know I'm going somewhere that I will have harder food choices to make, it depends. If there is something that I really want - I'll usually have it and balance the calores in for it. For example, I knew that I was going to the movies yesterday, and I planned on having a small popcorn. I knew I had to count those calories into my daily plan. If I'm caught somewhere that I hadn't planned on being - I just plan on trying to make the best choices that I can. Sometimes I do better than others, but I'm learning, and also, I'm determined to "live" and not swear off chocolate for the rest of my life - just not reasonable for me.

Good luck this week everyone!

Question of the Day Monday

How do you handle all the temptations that occur during the weekend?

I just try and hold myself accountable, I have a really supportive husband too and he'll give me "the look" which let's me know its probably not in my best interest to eat or do whatever I was thinking of doing.

I went to the gym again today and was actually wore out by the end today (Friday's wasn't as intense at all) I loved it! Came home and took a nap :rotfl:

Food hasn't been too bad. Went to my mother in laws for dinner last night. My grandma made some Zucinni and squash dish that was really good and I never really liked either of those veggies (is that what they are?) before.

Sorry I have not been around friends, but I had a small pity party/tantrum last week and kinda got into a funk. I haven't been feeling well, though I did see the specialist on friday and got a diagnosis. Nothing dramatic or exciting, a tight muscle on my jaw that is causing the ear pain. Dr. gave me NSAIDS and exercises to do. It is helping somewhat, but I am tired and when my ear hurts, I don't feel like doing anything. Except eat, of course.

But now I am remotivated, rededicated as I have a new goal. Not only am I committed to running the 2010 WDW Half marathon, but now we are going on a cruise afterward!!! I know I can do the half, the time is not a problem, but we would be going on the cruise with other friends and I really would like to be at goal weight by then. So now I gotta put my money where my mouth is as they say and get my booty in gear.

I had a good run this morning, going to run each morning this week, hoping to get a long run in on the weekend as well. Doing better with the food, made better choices today.

hi all...doing well on COW. Don't know if I will lose this week due to a...ahem..."visitor", but am still going to try! Must sleep!

I'm the same way with the chocolate, and keeping the hands busy definitely can deter the late night eating. I'm thinking back to when I used to knit and cross stitch, and I was pretty thin then. I should pick up a project to start.

 Sorry you're not feeling well. Hang in there, and you'll get back on. We all have our ups and downs, and you'll be back up soon.

that is a great quote. My heart definitely doesn't draw me towards overeating, but some crazy part of my dysfunctional head does. We do need strength to reach our goals, and we all have it within us.

Sorry I have not been around friends, but I had a small pity party/tantrum last week and kinda got into a funk. Glad you are feeling better and back on track. Good work.

Question of the Day Monday

How do you handle all the temptations that occur during the weekend?
If I plan ahead, I can do well, but when some stress comes my way, that's when I lose it and start eating and drinking. I need to journal my food as I'm going to eat it also, and not when I get home to keep me on track. We are going to the Topsfield Fair this weekend, so I'm going to plan what I will eat, and stick to my plan. My favorite thing is the apple crisp with ice cream, so I'll plan for that as a splurge, and that will be it for me.

I'm having a good week. On track with food, and have had tea at night to deter the junk food cravings. I just got Jillian's 30 day shred dvd and have done that the past 3 mornings. It's 25 minutes long and is a great workout. I had been doing the Watp dvds which I love, but this is a much more intense workout and I feel it in so many more muscles. The first day I couldn't keep up with all the cardio- jumping jacks, etc, but each day, I've done a little more. Today I kept up with her for all but about 15 secs of jumping jacks. And that's the beginning workout!

Have a great, losing day Red team!!
