BL challenge ~ BLUE TEAM ~ wk1

Hi everyone! I'm Cristy. Very busy. Our family is DH, DS (11) and DD (5). Work full time and then also keep the after care kids at school from 3:15 to 5:30 each day. Challenging sometimes to get home and cook healthy meals. Am doing better though, just takes some planning in advance.
Will post more on Monday.

GO BLUE TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hiya Blue Team,

I am Lisa. I will posting at odd times as I am from the UK.
I have had weight issues for as long as I can remember. I wont be on a diet for the first week as it is my birthday and I have lots of plans which revolve around food.

I live in a flat with my husband Dan and my cat Buffy.
We are going on our first disney cruise next year and I want to be slim by them.

I probably have in excess of 100 pounds to lost but 7lbs will be my mini goal.
I plan on cooking lots of lovely meals from scratch and swapping to healthy snacks and playing Wii Fit 3 times a week to start off but may adapt diet plans as time goes on.

Best of luck everyone.

Melanie - prayers for hubby and thank you for all the sacrifices you and your family make!

Nat - congrats on your anniversary!

Hugs to Briarmom.... hope DH gets home soon and thank you for your sacrifices too!

I think I want to lose the most weight so far. I'd like to lose 150 total. When I checked the scale last night, I almost screamed right there in the middle of Publix (don't own a scale at home). There's enough pounds here for 2 of me!!!!

Looking forward to the challenges! I like the pre-challenge thing... have definitely been thinking about a pedometer and a water bottle. Does it count against it being water if we put a bit of lemon in it? I like water with lots of lemon juice to give it a bit of flavor. Does that still count?

At least I did something right today. Went out to lunch with some folks from the office and instead of ordering the cheeseburger and fries, I got the salad and sandwich combo. I have no idea how many calories were involved but it had to be less, I'm thinking. It was definitely hard to do that -- I'm not really good at telling myself no. But I did it!

I like the idea of the pre-challenge as well, especially as I already have/do most of the things on the list. ;) I'm sure it still counts, a little bit of lemon is not going to kill you.

Good for you. :thumbsup2 Probably less calories and even if it is not that much less a salad with all those veggies is still better for your body than a hamburger and fries. :thumbsup2

Ok i have another couple of things I thought my new WL buddies should know about me

1) I am emotional eater, I eat when I am happy, sad, stressed, tired etc. I consider all the fun things relate to eating, going out for meals sweets at the cinema, snacks at bowling so need to retrain my habits

2) I am a total chocoholic, you would understand that more if you had cadburys and galaxy there it is the best thing in the world. I cant allow myself a little *** I just eat and eat.

3) I can generally be good for a while ranging from a day - 3 weeks then I go off the rails and am totally crazy binge eating.

The ways I am trying to fix this are

1) Be nice to myself, it is my birthday next friday and I have got lots of lovely smellies and will have books and cross stitch etc anything to try and distract me.

2) I am gonna avoid it for at least a day giving myself a treat for each day I get through this is a big deal for me I have been known to have 5-6 choc bars a day.

3) I am gonna plan plan plan, going to try and get lots of in season tasty produce and on Sunday I want to have a cooking day where I prepare as many meals as possible and freeze them or get them ready for slow cooker to make weekday eating easier.

I will also be upping my water intake to at least 2 litres a day natural plus any bonus with juice.

All this will be in place from next Saturday after my birthday probably.

At some point this weekend I will do myself a plan and a shopping list.
Wish me luck

Hi I'm Lisa - I'm 39 and married 17 years to my DH. I'm 5'2 and have about 50 lbs to lose. I have joined Weight Watchers 17 times. I have been very successfull and a complete train wreck while on WW. My biggest 'excuse' obstacle is basically that I feel shouldn't have to exercise! (I hope you guys know what I mean - the little self-rationaliztions that go on in our heads)

As per my screen name, I have 3 girls (ages 19, 14 & 9) that I am a mom to and 2 others that I help out with. (my nieces ages 15 & 14). My BIL is in Afghanistan and my sister travels a lot for work so I find that I've got more teenage girl drama in my house than the WB has on TV. I recently left my job (well, a year ago) and and thought that would help with my weight loss - stress eating and all - but instead I sort of took the Kristie Alley approach of oh well and had fun making cookies and bread and so on for the kids and my weight has really crept up while my metabolism has slowed down. In fact, I think dead people have a higher metabolism than I do:rotfl:

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this challenge because I always whine about not having someone to exercise with or do WW with so I'm not accountable to someone other than myself. This challenge changes that alone feeling and forces me to be a part of something bigger.

Lisa

Hi! I'm Crystal. Born Texan living in New Hampshire. I am 29 years old. I married my prince 2 years ago onboard the Disney Wonder. We have 6 year year old princess. I work full time as director of a cosmetology school as well as part time for Creative Memories and part time at home as a travel agent. I had no problem loosing my baby weight after my daughter was born but it plus some has slowly found its way back. I have also been battling some medical issues and chocolat cake has been a great comfort. I am 4'10" and would like to lose 40 pounds before our next Disney trip. I am very excited about this challenge!!

Hypermommy, I totally get "eating because it would taste good", frustrating isn't it? How exciting for you to go on another cruise. Is the pic of you from a cruise? I love that pic and the flower in your hair. :flower3:

hobbester, Disney in December is so beautiful! Have you been there during that time? We are going next month and I simply can't wait! Tell us how that treadmil is going.:yay: Way to go on picking up some healthy foods today. That is commitment!:thumbsup2

Goofy Groupie, another Disney cruiser!:thumbsup2 You'll be that hot mom by the pool before you know it! You were successful before with losing weight, and I know you can do it now. We will help each other.

Hypermommy
, We did the double dip cruise in 2006. Going to CC twice was absolutely amazing!!! We went on a 3 night a few years prior to that, and never made it to CC, so the double dip was perfect for us. Is it going to Costa Maya and Cozumel too? LOVED the Mayan ruins, never ever thought I would see those up close, what an amazing time that was. Truly magical. ANd yes, you too will be the Hottie mom by the pool.:beach:

Sabrina_Mouse, Great to see you again!:wave2: I know that you will make it all the way through this time. I tried the BL the first 2 times and life got in the way too, by the 3rd time I signed up to be captain and it was the best decision I ever made. It made me accountable to the very end, and I felt so proud of myself. No matter what life hands us, lets do it to the end together! I am there for you.l:hug: What do you do for the dept of agriculture, sounds interesting.

Convert, Ok, do tell... what is waffle lady??? Baby steps for sure, we can do this. Is that your DS in the pic? He is a cutie! Boy, sending them off to Kindergarten is hard. How does he like it so far? I like how you started a journal here... I think I might have to do that too... again!

MelanieC, Hi friend!!! So happy to see you.:goodvibes Thanks for the wishes for my next belt testing, and sending those wishes right back at you for a safe homecoming for your DH. Thank you to both of you for your sacrifices for our country. I sure appreciate it.:worship: How do you like sparkpeople? I tried it and I wasn't as consistent as I should have been. Do you frequent any of the groups/ message boards? You are going to be fit at forty!!! That time will pass one way or another, I know you will make the most of it.

Lifelong_Dreamer, Hi there! another disney cruiser! You are going to be the hot babe on the beach! How do you like the Wii fit? I was looking into getting the wii, but it is still so hard to come by, and I don't know if I want another video game system in the house, the stuff the kids have already occupy them way too much. I am a nurse, and your BSN will open lots of doors for you. Good for you for stepping out and taking the risk for a second career. And a quick question.. what is the Fairy Godmothers that you are a member of?:confused3

junebugTN, That stinks about your thyroid, but you know what? Losing slowly will help you keep it off in the long run. Your contribution to the blue team will be great, and we will be very proud of you! I like your Disney Diet idea. We are going to Disneyland next year, and I think I might make my own "Disney Diet Plan"! Great thinking!:thumbsup2

I really enjoy the Wii Fit, although I have neglected it a bit since getting back from my August Disney vacation. I used it yesterday though and all my muscles are sore from the yoga poses.

I figured I should go back and get the extra schooling now while I am still young vs waiting a few more years. This way I will be finished with the BSN and hopefully working as a nurse by the time I turn 30.

Fairy Godmothers is a Disney forum that two of my friends started up a few months back. It is a nice small community to hang out in and chat about Disney and non-Disney stuff. You should check it out. :goodvibes

Hi ! My name is Patty and I am fairly new to the message boards...my daughter startseeker1221 provides remeidal tutoring for me so I look like I know what I am doing! :)

I have about 50 pounds to lose, and my body thinks there is a chronic famine in the land so it is very hard for me to lose the pounds!

I turn 50 in January and my daughter and I are going on our first Disney cruise - soooo excited! I know I won't lose 50 by then, but I hope to be well on my way to FIT and FABULOUS at FIFTY!!

Glad to be apart of this.... GO BLUE!!!!:cool1:

Dianatlol, And another DCL cruiser... Hey, maybe I have to start thinking about another cruise, you all have me very interested!:cool2: You were very successful with Atkins, are you thinking of doing that again? And you said you were in the military? What branch? Thank you to you for all of your hard work and sacrifices. I appreciate it all!:flower3:

natale1980, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!party: You are going on a cruise too??? Ok, now I am officially jealous!;) Your kids are soooo cute! What a beautiful family.

Julylady, WOW, 70 pounds already lost... WAY TO GO!:thumbsup2 Sounds like you are very active, even with traveling alot. What is your job? Do you get to go to some exciting destinations? You said that you eat 1200 calories a day... how do you count them? Do you use any specific program?

Briarmom
, Wow, living in Egypt and Belgium? What an exciting adventure. Yes, Biggest loser is a show that is on in the states, but I know that they have shows in other countries as well, maybe somehow you can have access to some of those? I think on nbc.com they will have updates and you can follow some of the progress of the teams. I will research that for you, and get back to you.

live4christp1, nice to meet you Cristy! Wow, you sound very busy. we'll work through our challenges together. Can't wait to hear more from you on Monday. How many kids do you have in aftercare?

Bellybee, Happy birthday!!!! :bday: Not sure when it is... but have a terrific time! ANOTHER CRUISER???? Now I am really, really jealous! LOL! Sounds like you have a great plan set up. How do you like your wii fit? I think alot of us are emotional eaters and can totally relate with you. BUt I have to ask... what is a smelly???? YOu said "lots of lovely smellies"... flowers?:confused3 Oooh, I am going to love learning new phrases!:thumbsup2 I am not a chocoholic, but I do love potato chips... maybe we can do a mini challenge with the 2 of us. I'll avoid the chips, and you avoid the chocolate.... Are you game? if you are, when do you want to start? Anyone want to join us? Hey, I am wishing you lots of luck. Sounds like you are a big planner too. I love to make detailed plans... now we need to put them into place and really work our plan.

njmom23grls, hey we have a lot in common... I am 39 and married to DH for 17 years too! I think I have joined WW about 10 times, and probably recommited to WW about 17 times. I was succesful to losing 25 pounds once, but I think I tried to get "perfect" with points, and that messes me up. Oh, the teenage drama made me smile... I am not looking forward to that time with my own kids. I too found that when I didn't work during the week (I worked weekends) I ate way too much, very easy to do. I gained over 100 pounds after I cut back hours when my DD was born. I hang my head in shame...:sad2: And I too agree, getting close to 40 and that metabolism put the breaks on. It is time to rev it up!

CSwan1, Oh my, you got married on the Wonder??? :bride: How beautiful! I love creative memories stuff. It's the best scrapbooking stuff. What kind of travel agent work do you do? How did you get involved doing that at home? Sounds like fun.

Hypermommy, well, I am kind of with you... but I actually have 150+ pounds to loose.... I can't quite bring myself yet to admit how much I actually have to loose...:sad2: How did I ever get myself in this position?:sad1: Way to go on the salad and sandwhich combo... baby steps and small changes! I am really proud of you!:woohoo: And I think the lemon water is just fine.

I have heard that sore muscles happen from wii fit. That way you know you are workin' it girl!:thumbsup2 How was Disney in August? I heard the crowds were a bit lower in the past, did you find it to be that way?

The fairy Godmothers sounds interesting, I'll have to go check it out.

Well we were there during Fay :headache: The crowds were pretty low but that could have been a result of Fay or the month. :confused3 We had a fun time despite the rain. :thumbsup2

Hi Patty1859, you had me so confused!!!! :upsidedow I couldn't figure out at first who starseeker was! Well that is nice that she helps you out with the message boards, and how fun that you are doing this with your daughter! Even though she is on that other team!;) Oh my gosh... another Disney Cruiser??? I think Disney should start a disney cruise diet plan... they would have lots of followers!!! And you most certaily will be fit and fabulous at Fifty! Way to go! Before I turn 41, I will be fit and fabulous at 40! We can do it together!

Oh, I can imagine the rain put a little damper on things. I saw a crazy clip of the Disney parade gong through a torrential downpour on youtube. It was something to see.

OK, how are you guys doing with the prechallenge that was posted?

1) Start carrying a water bottle around and drink throughout the day- 6 to 8 glasses is ideal

I will work on drinking more water. I have a water bottle at work to drink when I can get to the lounge. I think I will bring 2 with me and try and drink both. The only problem is... what goes in, must come out, and sometimes I can't get out of the surgery room to go to the bathroom... I'll try though.

2) Give yourself an extra hour in the grocery store. Spend the time looking at labels and serving sizes on your common food choices and find healthier items to replace them

That will have to wait till next week, but I'll get it done.
3) Buy a pedometer. They range from $5-$20 usually or currently can be found in Wheaties boxes as the prize. You are supposed to take 10,000 steps a day.

I have one, I'll try and find it. It doesn't always register for me though, maybe can I attach it to my shoe? Does anyone know if that would work?
4) Locate and/or buy some fitness clothes. You need good shoes when starting a fitness regimen.

I have been trying to get new shoes, I'll try and get them in the next 2 weeks.
5) Don’t stress. You have 15 weeks to get the hang of this and get closer to your goal, so don’t go gung-ho and burn yourself out.

Ok, no stress!:hippie: Got it! Yeah right, I am almost off of orientation... I have a feeling I will have a lot of work stress... I'll try and keep it away from food and not stress about being perfect on the "diet"

:lmao: I think that is probably the same parade we were at! It was hilarious! It was nice and sunny when it headed up main street towards the castle but when it started coming back towards Town Square it started pouring! I think all of Main Street screamed and ran for cover in 3 seconds flat, I have never seen an area of the park clear so quickly. :rotfl: It was so funny seeing the characters running down Main Street and the parade floats started moving really quickly with the performers and characters still trying to dance around on them. :lmao: Funniest thing I have ever seen. I don't have the pictures on photobucket yet or I would post them. I only upload them as I get to that part in my report.

Oh my gosh, that clip did look really funny! It sounds funny hearing your report on it too. I will look up and see if I can find that clip, someone on the DIS posted it, I think it is posted over at the attractions forum. I can't wait to read all of your trip report, I'll have to see that part of the rainy parade!:umbrella:
