Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Happy Saturday Friends

I believe in carrying yourself like you’re a class act and I raised my girls to carry themselves that way too (one does and one does not)

I was having a hard time thinking of how I can word this, so I looked it up and this is what I found ⬇️. This describes my thoughts perfectly and it’s in a list form 👍🏻. Everyone can look and act like a class act, regardless of what their financial status is. This is how I was raised, this is how I am now and this is how I’ll die. I want people to remember me as someone that had a lot of class.

So, I’m grateful that I do the below classy lifestyle things ⬇️, even on days like today when my DD22 and I go thrifting, because I’m all about buying clothes and other items from second hand stores. I can not begin to tell everyone the compliments I get on my outfits, and most of it came from Goodwill, and the outfit cost me around $10. Maybe less on 50% off day, which is today.

Ravioli
Pillows
My car when I take things to Goodwill trust me it’s stuffed which means I’m getting everything out of my house and doing a massive clean out!! I hope this one counts

Classy Things
Fine China I know most people don’t like it these days but I still do I think it’s really pretty I like buying pretty plates and pretty bowls when I see them at the antique mall

Nice jewelry - depending on your style but older jewelry it’s very classy - special stuff my opinion from like the 1920s and some even earlier it’s really pretty and versatile pieces were made to be taken apart in more in different ways

Really nice clothing a beautiful dress like an evening dress or a nice gown your formal wear very classy

Afternoon all,

Classy or elegant isn't usually something I'd associate with myself or my lifestyle (I'm from North of Manchester which anyone from the UK might understand 😂 )

1. Evening gowns/classy dresses - another vote for these. I have a few that I don't get to wear very often, but I definitely feel incredible when I do.

2. Fine dining - I'm a foodie in general and will eat most things, and I do appreciate fine dining and top rated restaurants from time to time. Making it to Victoria & Albert's is still on my wishlist for a future WDW trip, the price just puts me off as it's nearly double the cost of a Michelin starred place over here.

3. Manners - another vote for this. I feel like manners are a little lacking sometimes in certain folk nowadays which is a shame, so I'm always grateful when someone exhibits some!

China/Sterling/Crystal - it just makes dining feel special. I have the place to myself and I’m thinking of making myself a nice dinner, plating it with the good stuff and having a solo elegant evening in my dining room.

Saturday night classical concerts - back in my symphony days, Saturday night was the first performance of a concert series. Monday nights were also on the same elegance level but there was just something about Saturday. It was the first night, many of the socialite donors were in attendance and there was just this vibe of peak refinement that made it feel extra special.

Designer garments where the craftsmanship speaks of the luxury vs. a ton of logos- Don’t get me wrong, I like some of the things covered in logos, but have you ever noticed a perfectly tailored pair of pants or dress made of beautiful fabric where you’d never know who made it without checking a label inside the garment? Just so elegant and refined.

From what I've seen in reruns of TV shows from the 1950s, people's demeanor then was overall classier and more respectful.
Oh-oh.... you will be getting a survey in the mail from FAA...all those 1950s airline commercials... I wore a blazer and button shirt on my very first flight ✈️ ✈️ ✈️ in 1981... that is what I saw in the 1950s commercials....a month later didn't care... I don't think the army wanted me to show up in a suit attire for basic training..... month later we had to wear our class A dress uniform.for Christmas leaves.. didn't want the soldiers... looking like bums... they even put fear in us that airports Nation wide had officers making sure were class acts

Classy/elegant
My first thought was Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers! I watched their movies every time they were on TV
My definition of classy is someone who has self-control and doesn't have to use curse words to express themselves (although a good expletive comes in handy sometimes, but not in public)
Elegant: Jackie Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn

so if Michigan is your home state or where you vacation, please tell us what you love about it!

Otherwise,
today's topic (1/18) - 3 things you're grateful for inspired in any way by Winnie the Pooh
(by the books, by his nature, by the things he likes - whatever pops into your head)

Good Sunday Morning

Winnie the Pooh was the theme of DD22’s nursery when she was a baby.

#1 - FRIENDSHIP - Christopher Robin shows us that being friends with all different types of personalities/people/characters is very rewarding. We don’t have to limit ourselves to only being friends with people just like ourselves.

#2 - TIGGER - I can really relate to Tigger, especially in The Tigger Movie. I feel my personality is a lot like Tigger’s and I appreciate in The Tigger Movie how even us Tiggers have unhappy/sad days - we’re not always bouncy. Granted, our sad days are a lot less than others, but we do have them.

#3 - LOYALTY - I love Piglet’s loyalty to Pooh Bear. Such a great example for all, but especially to children.

I have only been in Michigan once and I will say one thing I was amazed at how fresh and I see air was up there it was just so nice luckily it wasn’t in the winter so the weather was gorgeous it was just like being soon out in the country fresh nice air to change from you being around the cities air is not as nice as it could be and it was just such clear nice air

Pooh -
The acceptance of everybody just for who they are the way they -
The show shows you all manner of every people every way that you run into an everyday life and how people are and now that’s OK and how we can all get along

And that we should all stop and just have a little bit of honey every now and then because that just makes things all better

We all need to use our imagination more

Pooh simply loves everyone and cares

All of the creatures and Christopher Robin who live in the 100 Acre Wood

The Winnie the Pooh ride at Dusneyland, I would love to be longer and much more 100 Acre Wood based but riding in a honeycomb car through the forest is a sweet experience that my dad and I usually do twice in a row.

Never been to Michigan, so it’s going to be Winnie the Pooh. He has been DD17s favorite since she was a baby.

First birthday cake- he was the theme for this cake…a cake where I learned so much that helped with a multitude of future cakes. This cake recipe (apple cider spiced pound cake) became the base for ALL of my decorated cakes. I realized immediately that it can be tweaked to nearly every possible flavor. Hard to believe that this cake flavor has become everything from coffee to coconut. It also taught me about sculpting toppers, weights of products, fillings, dyes, and using molds. Oh, and that I don’t like working with Chocopan, even though it tastes amazing.

Blended characters- DD hit a phase where she was torn between Star Wars and Pooh. Pooh seemed too childish to her at the time and she was worried about what her friends might think. This is when I found Wookiee the Chew. He is a blend of Pooh and Chewbacca. He is not my invention but I made a sketch from the creator’s work and realized I could sculpt him. The R2D2 and balloon elements were scrapped but the end result was adorable. Her friends also loved it. It also really showcased how far my figure sculpting had come and the proof that if I can sketch it I can also sculpt it. This growth wouldn’t have been possible without Pooh. Still mixed on the Death Star but it was my biggest rice cereal treat cake element to date.

Photos- we love pics of our loved ones and because of Pooh, I have some of my favorites of DD17 as she’s growing up. This is just a sample…

Afternoon all,

1. The Christopher Robin film - I'm really not a fan of the live action Disney films (sorry) with the exception of Christopher Robin. I've been a fan of Pooh since I was a child and this film really struck a nostalgic note with me, I love it and it makes me so happy. I have a set of toys from the film that I adore so much.

2. Taking time for yourself - I totally agree with Pooh on this and its something I do probably more often than I should, but it makes me feel so much better.

3. Another vote for a little something sweet now and again. My sweet tooth agrees!

I’m grateful for my morning coffee that gets me through the day, friends who always know how to make me laugh, and weekends to just relax and recharge. Definitely need more of those!
