BL challenge ~ BLUE TEAM ~ week 2

QOTD 2 - I would say that I'm a happy person. It takes a lot to make me angry.

I stopped at a McDonalds this morning in another city on my way to work. Our McD's in my town is being torn down right now to rebuild it and make it larger (it was only big enough to hold about 15-20 people). I have not had McD's in over a month, now my stomach is not very happy with me; maybe its a sign that I don't need to go there again for at least another month!

Wow what a hard question of the day but a great question! It shows us the things about ourselves that we easily forget!

It took me a while but I guess I have to say that I am a very determine person and has always been and the best part is I know how to use this to my advantage. I have to say it is the main reason that after 7 years of becoming healthy I have not given up…sure I have stalled and even had small gains but I still am aiming for my original goal and have went from a size 24 to a size 8/10…and hopefully will soon be within my healthy BMI…last Friday I had just 16 more pounds until my I reach my first goal…it been a long hard road but well worth it…

Sneaking in a bit of time at work...

TammyNC - boy there are definitely times I wish that was me. I'd probably almost qualify for some sort of psychiatrist's dream the way my moods go from one to the other. Usually it's not a problem but there have been times that my mouth has written a check my butt couldn't cash.

Way to go hobbester!!! An allergic reaction to McD's... now that's a great way to stay on track!!!

Woo hooo Jaime!!! So close!!! You're an inspiration to me! I'm in a 24 now and while I know I'll never ben in an 8 or 10, I'm so looking forward to being in a 16 again!!! Thanks for just being there and showing me it CAN happen with determination!

What do I like about myself? That is hard as I am always down on myself. I guess I like my mind/intelligence. I have always felt good about myself when it came to school and marks. Physically I don't like much about myself, maybe my eyes.

Hi everyone! Brenda just sent me an e-mail and I get to be on the blue team! :woohoo:

QOTD: I like that I work hard and play hard- and really try to get the most out of every day and every experience.

Of course that means I have 66.5 pounds to loose with my overindulgent lifestyle, but hey- I am glad I found you folks so I can put my energy in the right- HEALTHY- direction. I want to be fabulous and 40 on my disney cruise in Dec. 09

I have never heard of Briar for a child's name, I think it is very nice. Wow, you are very commited, having a cold and still getting in the exercise! Super!:thumbsup2

She's named after Sleeping Beauty.

You know, when I first read the QOTD I thought it said 'something I DON'T like about myself'. I thought that was rather odd.:rotfl:

That's a really hard question. Really. I guess I can be funny. And I have great shoes...

I walked this am and have done well with food. I am so tired from this cold and I also did this:

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1962133

Dh called and is going to be in Afghanistan longer than we thought. I really need a vacation, and I have to admit after the day I've had it's going to be harder to eat right and do right tonight.:guilty:

/
Briarmom-wow, you did all that and didn't feel well - that is awesome. Sorry about the DH info. Good luck tonight, I know when I get not so good news, sometimes I turn to food for comfort also.

QOTD-

I like my sense of humor, my smile, I have actually aged in reverse I think. I used to be so hard on myself, didn't care to put makeup on, clothes I wore.. nothing. Then I had my daughter and thought I do not want her seeing a mom who wouldn't take care of herself. Amazingly just making a few changes has helped me greatly. I am no longer shy, I am outgoing, 99% of the time happy etc...

   I am so sorry.....Don't let the day affect you like that. You will only be more upset in the morning

Hey Losers!

I hope you are enjoying our challenge so far. I am completing our final weekly tabulations so look for my official announcement later this evening. It will name our weekly Biggest Losers. But for now I have some things I need to discuss with everyone.

First a gentle reminder about weight reports.

*Send a report every week. I have seen folks on their team threads talking about their week but they have not reported to me.

*Include your weight in pounds each week. Saying you lost 2 pounds makes more work for me because I have to find your weight from last week and then subtract the two pounds to get this weeks weight.

*I do not need a running total of what your weight is doing. ie initial weight 150 lbs, week 1 - 148 lbs, week 2 - 145 lbs. Just tell me your weight at that weigh in. If you also want to include how you did for the week (I lost 2 pounds) that is OK. It can help me check and make sure I have the same results for you. Reporting your loss is optional and not required.

*Always include what team you are on. If your PM includes your team in your siggie that can speak for you. I do have a chart of who is on what team but it takes time for me to look you up. If you forget your team another message is not necessary because I will use my chart. I do not need more messages to get through on weigh in days.

*If you use email aways include your DIS name and team.

*I appreciate the thoughts included with your weight reports but just keep it short and sweet. Please keep in mind that I can not respond to all of them. There just is not enough hours in the day and DH thinks I DIS WAY too much already.

*If you are late send the report anyway. I will include your progress if I can for the week.

*If you know you will miss a weigh in please let me know. I worry very much when I do not hear from you.

*There is never a need to apologize for your weight. If you gain do not skip your report because you think it will hurt your team. Be honest, be accountable, report anyway. Then regroup and try your hardest to do better the next week. This is not a sprint to the finish. This is an endurance race. For some of us the race will last longer than for others. We need to get to our destinations with a slow and steady pace. There will be bumps and obstacles on the way and we are all here to help each other along.

Now on to other matters. In her initial weight report last week Pickles521 from the Red Team asked me "Are you also wanting to lose weight? Or do you do this because you've been there?" Losers let me tell you why I do what I do.

I am a DIS lurker. Doing this forces me to be more involved than I would normally be. Every week I post results and get to talk to you. I want to inspire you and let you know that YOU CAN DO IT. I have not 'been there, done that' I am right in the trenches with you. I have well over 100 pounds to lose.

I am a 49 year old grandma of two. All three kids are grown and gone. I live in MD and they all live out west. Right now DHs business is doing better that it has in the 28 it has been in existence. I have the luxury of staying home and my only job is to make his life easier so he can run the business. I help a little in the office and goof around alot. Life is sweet and I want to be around to enjoy it for a long long time so I have to lose weight to get healthy.

So now lets talk about you. As a numbers freak I love to examine and compare numbers. Let's take a look at the initial makeup of our Biggest Loser teams.

So there is our staring point. A total of 142 participants. How many will make it to the end? Make a commitment today to finish this challenge no matter what. Yes it takes work, yes it is hard. But remember YOU ARE WORTH IT!

You will only get out of this challenge what you put into it. If you take it seriously and strive to make positive changes in your life I guarantee that you will see results. They may not be immediate or drastic but positive changes will help you meet your weight loss goals.

Remember as MelanieC from the blue team (spoiler - one of our week 1 Biggest Loser Superstars) says 'It's a journey, not a destination!' There is much we have to learn on our journey to good health. Enjoy the journey and savor the sights along the way. Enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow losers that are also on their own journey. I'm happy to be traveling with you and wish you success as we move forward on our individual paths.

Stay tuned for the official announcement coming this evening!!

Keep up the great work losers!!

Wow I am looking forward to the results not that i did any good but this week I will be better.

I stuck to my calories all day again and had my choc treat so I am pleased I managed all that

Hear Ye Hear Ye, the Weightkeeper speaks

This is it. This is the results show. Settle into your seat and prepare to be amazed and inspired by the accomplishments of your fellow losers. And the biggest question is 'Will your name be on the list?'

Blue Team week 1

47 participants
-2 members that have not reported in at all
-5 members that missed week 1 weigh in
40 weigh ins

2 newbies
3 gains totaling 4 lbs
5 maintains
30 losses totaling 73.8 lbs

Total weekly loss 69.8 lbs

Now the excitement builds. Let's look at our Blue Team Superstars.

Please note - I love knowing your first name. I realize some like to be anonymous here but knowing your first name makes me feel you are an old friend. If you include it in your signature, a post, or a report to me I will use it to recognize you. If you prefer me not to use your first name just let me know. If you would like me to know your first name include it with your weight report.

Keep in mind these percentages are the percentage of weight lost this week. It is computed by dividing your weight lost for the week by your weight at the beginning of the week. I strive to be thorough in my calculations but remember I am human. If you have a concern then contact me.

Are we ready now? Can you stand the suspense?

Make wise food choices. Exercise. Drink that water. You know what works for you. Now get to it. What are your waiting for superstar. You have the power to shine this week. I know you can!!

Congratulations all you losers!!! Yea blue team!

My food choices have been good. I've exercised Mon and Tues of this week already, Mon twice. I pick up my eldest 1 1/2 hours before my middle, so the last two days we've walked/jogged a mile route starting and ending at the school. Mon I also did it when I dropped my middle at school. I put my youngest in a stroller. It's good exercise and it also gives me time to talk to my oldest daughter about her day. Win/Win:thumbsup2

Can't wait for the show tonight. It sure is great motivation!

Christine

Kudos to everyone on the blue team, but especially our big winners. You're an inspiration! :goodvibes

June

Princess,

Thanks for all the encouragement! We are sooo lucky to have such a great team leader!

I just worked out again!!! And I was pretty good at lunch. I had half a cuban and the rice/beans side they have. Don't know if it was lo-cal but I felt pretty good about the fact that I brought the other half of the Cuban back to the office. Ate it later when I was hungry... but again, I'm first learning not to wolf down everything on the plate.

And I felt so good about myself I came home and worked out again!!!!! Ahhhh... now it's time for a bit of dinner and relaxing on the computer hanging out with my friends (you guys!!!).

You are welcome! AND WOW look at you go! Working out again!!!! You are on a roll!!! :cool1:
I had a horrible, stressful day today...ugh. Normally, I would have been stress-eating like crazy, shoveling 100-calorie snack packs and vending machine goodies in my mouth all afternoon. But no-o-oooo, not me. :cool1:

I realized tonight that I totally resisted the stress-eating all day today... woo hoo! That's a HUGE deal for me, and I was so surprised that I was able to resist so much easier today. I know it's because I'm not just accountable to myself these days, but to my awesome, rockin' blue teammates.

Thanks for being there for me this afternoon. You may not have realized it, but you had such a wonderful impact on my day! :flower3:

June

That is fantastic, way to go on bypassing the stress eating!!! I am so proud of you!
I had a really good day in terms of hte mini challenge. At lunch and dinner i was so tempted to have Mountain Dew, but I held out and had water and tea respectively. Mountain Dew has always been my weakness. Every year I try to give it up for Lent, and every year I end up falling off hte wagon about halfway through. :rotfl:

ETA: Vija, I realize I never answered your second question. CP is College Program. I have done three: One in Fantasyland Attractions and two in Entertainment. There's some pictuers in my WISH Journal.

I have to say that is so cool to be in the CP. My nephew was in it as well and he had a great time. Which was your favorite, the fantasyland or the entertainmnet? Were you one of Mickey's friends? And super duper on the mini challenge!:thumbsup2

Question 2 is a toughy for me as i often think I dont like anything about myself.

Anyway the thing I like about myself is my sense of humour, silly things make me laugh and sometimes I can be quite quick and make others laugh and i like that.

I am so glad that you found something to tell us about yourself. You are a fantastic person and you deserve to be liked by YOU! A sense of humor is very important, and when you make others laugh, you have elevated their mood.
Oops.. went back to the week 1 thread and found the minichallenge and it's just as I thought. The thing I was eliminating was exactly what I did last night -- munching in bed. At least I only brought a cupful of peanuts to bed with me instead of the whole can. But I messed up the minichallenge. I'm still gonna hit it the rest of the week thought and I'm for sure going to have only the one hamburger this week (which is a major change for me). I think I'll have that on Friday so that I can 1) look forward to it as a treat for being good and 2) have it after the weigh-in!!! :rotfl2:

QOTD (Tue): Something I like about myself, huh? Well, I like the fact that I can usually find the answer to any question. I'm a not half bad researcher and that's helped me out so many times in my job. I like the fact that I'm gregarious and it's very easy for me to talk to people. I like how I can kind of take charge of any situation (others may not like that but you asked what I liked about myself). And I like how I can usually make just about anything I want to happen -- and this time it's gonna be this weight loss thing!!!

Don't worry about the mini challenge... just jump back on and finish up the week1 I LOVED reading the stuff about you. I can tell you are very outgoing just from reading the paragraph. AND I can tell you have great confidence in your skills. That is something to be proud of for certain.

QOTD 2 - WOW, I had a really hard time with this one...it isn't something that I typically think about or say. After a long time just sitting here staring at the computer screen, I think I can now answer the question. I like that I am pretty even tempered. I usually don't get angry, stressed or irritated too easily.

I am so glad you found something to share with us. Sometimes it isn't easy to find something positive when we are surrounded by negativity. That even temper is a treasured gift you have. I wish I had that somedays. Can you share?;)

QOTD2: What do I like about myself?

I like my sense of humor and I like that I believe in myself enough to think that I can do anything I put my mind to.

And that is going to help you succeed in this challenge!!!!

Tuesday QOTD:

Name Something you like about yourself

I like that I am tall. I'm 5'7, so it's pretty easy for me to hide a little extra weight. I also like my skin and hair color. I'm a mutt - part Irish, German and Cherokee - all of which show through at any time. Sometime my hair is red, other time's its black. Sometimes I'm tan, other times I'm covered in freckles.

I bought the Biggest Loser Workout-Cardio DVD last night at Target. I can't wait to get home today to try it out!!

Nice things you said about yourself. :goodvibes Tell us how you like the cardio DVD. I have it too, and it is fun, but a workout!:upsidedow

Happy people usually have a very nice outlook on life. Would you say that is true? McDonalds is such a killer, I'd say that is a very big sign. Hope you are feeling a bit better.

That is very inspiring. Thanks for sharing your story, determination is certainly working to your advantage. I truly am inspired by your story!!! It shows me that if I just keep my head in the game, I can and WILL be successful. Thanks for showing us the way. :goodvibes

What do I like about myself? That is hard as I am always down on myself. I guess I like my mind/intelligence. I have always felt good about myself when it came to school and marks. Physically I don't like much about myself, maybe my eyes.

It is sometimes hard to find things that are positive about us, especially with negative self talk. That is why I really wanted to pose this question, because each one of us is beautiful. God and Jesus loves us (if you are a believer, if not, please disregard, no offense meant) And I am sure that they have many, many things that they think are wonderful about you. The things that you are proud of, build on those, and add on to the beauty of you!:flower3:

Hi everyone! Brenda just sent me an e-mail and I get to be on the blue team! :woohoo:

QOTD: I like that I work hard and play hard- and really try to get the most out of every day and every experience.

Of course that means I have 66.5 pounds to loose with my overindulgent lifestyle, but hey- I am glad I found you folks so I can put my energy in the right- HEALTHY- direction. I want to be fabulous and 40 on my disney cruise in Dec. 09

Welcome to the blue team!!! You sound like a FUN girl! Working hard and playing hard! I'll bet you really enjoy life!

Dh called and is going to be in Afghanistan longer than we thought. I really need a vacation, and I have to admit after the day I've had it's going to be harder to eat right and do right tonight.:guilty:

I LOVE sleeping Beauty, she is my favorite Princess, so I have to say I LOVE your DD's name!princess: And you had me laugh about the "don't like abou t yourself"!:rotfl: YOU ARE FUNNY! followed by the shoes comment!:lmao: The halloween village is really cool, how long did it take to put up? So sorry your DH is going to be in Afghanistan longer that you though, but keep strong, we are hear for you, and if you need any hugs, come our way. praying for you!:goodvibes

That is outstanding! I too have come out of my shell more as I have gotten older. You are a great role model for your DD. Not only are you helping yourself enjoy life more, you are paving the way for a happier life for your DD!

Hey Losers!

I did pretty good today. Had baked chips again and no McDonalds!:cool1: Went for a nice walk tonight and thoroughly enjoyed the biggest loser tonight. Wow did the losing team loose A LOT OF weight at home! That is amazing! That inspires me more than anything. I can't wait until next week when they go to the Grand Canyon, I can't wait till we go there next year, and hopefully this will give me some motivation to really buckle down.

The best quote tonight???? "Bob brought a can opener to the gym and opened a can of WhupAs":lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

QOTD: I like my hair! (except for the grey, but the nice lady at the salon takes care of that for me!:lmao: ) I also like that I am funny, I can make people laugh.
