BL CHallenge *Black Team* Week 5

I live 25 miles west of St. Louis, MO. Grew up in Chicago which will always be home to me. I have lived in Missouri for 23 years, but never felt quite at home. The state of mind here is very small town and conservative, which I have never been able to embrace.

Sorry team - it has been a very crazy week around here. Plus, my computer was down for most of last week. I promise I will most more often.

QOTD - I live in Murfreesboro, TN - which is near Nashville

Good Tuesday morning. Well the first day back to work was tiring but I made it and now on to day 2.

Question of the Day
Does the area you live in affect your weight, exercise, eating habits?

There are a lot of restaurants around here since it is a resort place during the summer so that is a problem. Nothing like a Windmill or Max's hotdog during the summer. But if you want to walk the boardwalk it is close by also. My workouts are mostly done during the early morning hours so I don't go any where except my house.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi, all! A CRAZY week here as I'm having a garage sale on Fri-Sat & DH turns 50 on Thursday. I spent all of yesterday hunting for a place to make an 'over the hill' cake. Between calls & visits it took 18 stores to find ONE! UGH!!!!

QOTD Monday: I currently live in Rio Rancho, NM, just outside of Albuquerque. This is 'high desert' and my house is at about 6000'. I grew up in SE Iowa, lived in Mt Vernon, IL; Arlington, TX; Phoenix; Cedar Rapids, IA; Wichita, KS; and now here. I HATE moving!! But I'd like to move once more & THIS TIME to Florida!! (no such luck, DH HATES FLORIDA!!)

QOTD today: On the positive side the weather here is good enough that you can be outside nearly every day. Lots of bike & walking paths. On the negative, the altitude & heat can be pretty hard to deal with at times. Also, EVERYTHING here has a mexican food twist.....even McDs burgers come with Green Chile unless you request NONE! And Mexican food is generally NOT low fat/sodium/calories!! Produce is also hard to get. They sell it, but it doesn't taste like normal fruits/veggies from other parts of the country.

Hope everyone is doing well! I'm doubtful that I will have a successful weight loss week, but I'm still plugging away.

My community is designed for walking. If I didn't have to drive to work, I would never have to use my car. If I am into a day trip, a short drive into DC and there is tons to do (and LOTS of walking!). On nice nights we go down to Georgetown and walk through the little shops or along the canal.

I'm back from my weekend camping in the mountains and I'm afraid I didn't do as well as I hoped. I hope most of the weight I gained is water weight from eating too much sodium...and will come off quickly. I'm going back into the 'zone'!!

I live on the east coast of NC not far from the beach. I have walked around my neighborhood for exercise, but lately I've been going to the gym. I've got 'shy legs' (I heard that on a commercial this morning and thought that fit me, too) so I only venture out in shorts or a bathing suit for my 10 yr old son's sake, so he can go swimming or to the beach. What's crazy about that is that my husband is an above knee amputee and wears shorts everywhere. I have two healthy legs and I keep them covered. There is a lesson there somewhere that I'm not learning...

I need to make a grocery list and get some healthy food into the house fast!! The leftover fixin's for s'mores is calling my name!!!! I must resist!!!

QOTD - ehhhh - neutral? There is a great greenway system here, but for the rest of the town, it is not walk, bike friendly. We have a few great restaurants, but nothing that would make me say "I will blow this diet for that". Well, except the Clay Pit - an Indian restaurant. _ yummmm sag and chicken tikki marsala with an order of samosas.

Hear Ye Hear Ye, the Weightkeeper speaks

What an interesting week according to our numbers. I usually do my final crunching Monday. Sleep on it and review everything on Tuesday. I could not believe the numbers yesterday and today they still told the same story. No surprise there. So this is it for real and for true. Hang on here we go.

We started the week with 129 participants. This week 18 folks have been removed for not reporting for three weeks. So we are now at 111 participants.

-------------------Black Team-----Blue Team-----Red Team-----Total
started week---------42-------------43-------------44-----------129
removed---------------6--------------6--------------6------------18
current-members------36-------------37-------------38----------111
not reporting 1 wk------7--------------7-------------11-----------25
not reporting 2 wk------3--------------4--------------4-----------11
weigh ins for week-----26-------------26-------------23-----------75

Black Team Week 4

26 weigh ins
2 gains totaling 2.2 lbs
3 maintains
21 losses totaling 40.1 lbs
6 removed from challenge losses totaled 16.7 lbs

Weekly net loss 37.9 lbs
Cumulative net loss 139 lbs

Now the real fun begins. Let's look at our Black Team Superstars.

Again keep in mind that if you skip a weigh in your percentage lost for the next weigh in is divided in half. That only seems fair doesn't it?

Also I will plead again please state your weight for the week in the number of pounds you weight not just 'I stayed the same' or 'I lost 2 pounds'. I need the number or I will have to look it up and believe me I have plenty of other stuff to be doing.

Also again please report what team you are on and if you email me please include your DIS name. Still having some problems and I just wanted to state these requests in a larger font. Hey ladies don't make me shout next week.

And as usual keep in mind I am human. I do make mistakes. If you have a concern please PM or email me.

OK I have said enough. Now pay attention Black you had a very good week.

Congratulations Black Team you have blown away the competition this week. The question is what will happen next week? After such a stunning victory this week what will next week bring?

Were you a superstar this week? With team members leaving that does increase your odds. What can you do to make sure you are victorious next week? You can be a superstar. Even if your name never appears in fancy font and crazy colors you are a superstar for sticking out this challenge. You are a superstar for trying your best everyday. You are a superstar for becoming healthier. I'm looking forward to seeing less of you next week. :thumbsup2

Have a healthy day!

QOTD Monday: I live in south GA, about 40 minutes from the FL border. This is a small town with a few bigger businesses for employment and no large chain restaurants, however, Friday night football is really big here!

QOTD Tuesday: South GA = lots of fried foods available and no really good walking or biking places around. There are a few gyms here, but nothing that most people would be really comfortable going to. Mostly exercise consists of whatever you can do at home so I have the Slim in 6 videos and a treadmill.

Yeah Black Team!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

and Yeah ME!

I'm so proud to be the BL this week since I have been working very hard. I'm also proud to be a part of the Black Team.

Let's all keep up the good work that we are doing!

Thanks to everyone for the inspiration that you provide on a daily basis.

Welcome to the Black Team mytwoboys

Yesterday afternoon I remembered that the announcement would go out last night but I forgot about it until I saw leanne2255 talk about us winning again. I must be out of it.

Congratulations Black Team

Way to go Especially our top winner leanne2255 and all the rest of our top 10. Way to go.

Good Wednesday morning. Well for the 3rd week in a room I have fallen asleep during the weigh in of the BL show. I wake up to see who was eliminated but I don't know the weight losses. I will got to the website and check it out later.

mytwoboys The COW is the challenge of the week We are on week 5 and there is a thread for it on the WISH site.

For the rest of us don't forget that the COW points are due on Friday morning and tomorrow is the last day to accumulate any. I still have a number of things to do for it. Let's get busy and kick some more butt.

Question of the Day
What Disney character are you most like/can you best relate to?

I have to get back to you on this. My day is getting ready to start.

Have a great losing day. Maybe we could make it 2 weeks in a row.

Good Thursday morning

Where is Everyone?

No one posted yesterday? What's going on?

Question of the Day
Are you following a specific diet/exercise plan? Which one & why?

I have found for me that exercise and portion control are the only way that I lose weight.

Sorry about not being on yesterday. My company got a call from the IRS yesterday. Apparently they "never received" 2 forms from us. One was from 2006 (mailed summer 2007!) and the other was a 2007 form mailed august 2008. But they "never received them." So I spent my day hunting these forms and getting them mailed (again!). I usually have more free time at work to play online. The joys of being the administrative director!

As for the QOTD, I just watch calories and I have a personal trainer.

As for the Disney character, i will have to think about that one!

I'm so excited!!! I officially weigh less than I have in over eleven years!! Man, I was so excited when I saw the scale, I had to look twice!! Yeah!!! The zone 'diet' is working for me!

The character I am most like would be Pooh. I'm am optimist and try very hard at everything I do. I also find myself in adventures whether I intended to be having one or not. I call my husband Eyeore. 'Nuff said...

I can just imagine how scary that is for a company. I have had that happen about the State taxes once and I went crazy trying to fix it.

Congrats on fixing it

Who won the Week 4 COW?

Congrats Leanne and all my fellow top 10ers!!! And go team!

I weigh in for WW tonight so wish me luck!

QUOD:
Yep, I'm on Weight Watchers. I need the accountability of meetings and the weekly weigh in. It worked well for me 7 years ago and so far it's working well again.

Yay!!!!!!! What a great achievement!!

I found the COW Thread, so far I've got 37 points. And lets go for 10 more...

I deal with stress by tuning things out, often times I find myself eating, because it is an "activity" I can do alone. I stay at home with our kids (two boys, hence my SN) and am starting to learn how to balance my needs AND their's. I've got a long way to go, not just weight loss, but focusing on making myself happy. I don't know if anyone can relate, but it's hard to become a parent AND even harder to learn how to be selfless without giving up yourself. It's sooooo worth the sloppy kisses and hugs and the first time they say your name.
This is a hard thing to work on, but I plan to try and go take a walk if I find myself stressed and avoiding things and to not reach for food for comfort. Or to turn on my pilates or play a game with my kids....

+10=47!!!!!

I know that I try to get in some sort of yoga routine over the course of a week to help the stress levels. I have not been so good about it in the last 6 months but I am working to get back into it. I hope next week I will feel well enought to get back into some walking

DOn't forget to get those challenge points. Just a few more hours left.

mytwoboys - I have 2 boys too! And I am a SAHM. I know exactly where you are coming from. It is hard to have no one to talk to all day. And you eat to ease stress, and you eat because you are bored. Someone once told me that spending your day with a 3 year old is like working for a whinny drunk irrational boss/ :rotfl:

I have learned that I have to restrict calories AND workout - alot. If I only do one or the other, I won't lose a lb. Years ago I successfully lost 60 lbs using LA Weightloss. Then 2 rough pregnancies left me right back where I started. So I am using the materials I had from LA, but I am not enrolled in the program again. They make you buy the bars, which are expensive and taste awful. But the core eating plan is sound. It is lowfat and reduced carbs. You can still eat fruit, but nothing white. (White rice, potatoes, white bread, etc). Basically lots of fresh veggies, lean meats, and some fruits.

As far as working out goes - I have to exercise at least 1 hour 6 days a week, and most days I workout 2 -3.

But it is working for me. I consistantly lose 1.5 - 5 lbs per week. Usually alternating a 4-5 lb week and then a 1.5 lb week.
