BL Challenge Black Team Week 2

I have grown up always loving Disney -- especially Tinkerbell. So when I set up my own email a few years ago, I decided that I had to have Tink in it somehow and then I through in the 30 because I had just turned 30!

As for this weekend, I didn't do very well. I was at the bowling alley watching my kiddos bowl on Saturday and Sunday. I will be bowling tonight and then the kiddos practice again tomorrow. It has become a habit to grab a 20oz. everytime I'm at the bowling alley. Last year that was twice -- now it's 4 days a week. I really have to get this under control or I will NEVER lose any weight! I also sat and ate 3 snack sized candy bars last night....not a good weekend. Oh well, I need to learn how to say that was then, now move on...

Trimom - Ok, when I picked out my user name, I didn't realize that it could be interpreted as I was a mom of 3 kids. I have 2 kids and will only ever have 2 kids. :thumbsup2 Trimom came from the the fact that I did my first TRIathlon at Disney, and found out I would be a mom a short time after. (DS #1 was not quite a Disney souvenir, but it was close)

Great news for me for getting extra exercise in. I decided to check to see if the neighborhood that is next to DS's school connected to my neighborhood in any way. IT DOES! It's about 2 1/2 miles away! So now I can easily take the bike (with the trailer) to drop DS off and I can either bike or take the double jogger and walk (I don't jog well while pushing 70 lbs of weight, but I do try) to pick him up. Jogger is the plan for this afternoon, since I need air in the tires of the bike trailer.

Goldcupmom - that is so cool that you have a SON in gymnastics. I have both my 2 yo and my 5 yo sons in it, and they LOVE it! We have been doing it for about 3 months now. I am really hoping they stick with it, because it is such great exercise for them, and they don't even realize it.

Dona - cool, a twin!! Dona and Dena are nice twin names. When I was in middle school, there were twin girls named Vanilla and Danilla :confused3 :rotfl2:

pixiemagic - ohhhhh..... snack sized candy, so deceptive. I know exactly how you feel. You think that you will be "good" and only have a snack size, then 1 becomes 2 becomes 3 (and 4 and 5 for me :sad2: ) Might as well just eaten a whole candy bar and been done with it. You'll do better this week, I know it. Can you do diet at all while you are at the bowling ally?

About the only thing that I can do at the bowling alley is to drink water and make sure that I eat before I go. Saturdays are really the hard days because we are there from 830am until around 1pm. I can eat breakfast before I go, but being there over the lunch hour makes it difficult. I could look for pretzel sticks if I need a snack, but their pizzas, french fries, and pizza burgers are just oh so good!:worship: oh well, I know that I can splurge once in a while but that needs to be like once a month!

I also have to remember that this change will take some time. I have tried many times and have failed each time because I will not allow myself to indulge once in awhile and then begin to crave what I can't have. But this time, I have a different mindset and I think things will work better. I just need to work harder to get the excercise in...

My name and date of birth. 2/2/55 Not very creative!

Had an OK week-end. Went out for brunch yesterday and did not pig out. Subway sandwich for dinner- less than 6 pts for the sandwich and 3 points for the Baked Lays. Saturday was also OK. Stayed OP.

For those of you on WW, I have not dipped into my weekly 35 pts since I started in June But now, however, after much research, have found out that this may be the reason for the stalling of the weight loss. I'm SUPPOSED to eat those points. So, not pigging out, and not using the points for junk food. Just trying to eat healty, and eat a little more. My weigh-in is on Wed, so we'll see.

Exercised this morning on the treadmill with alternating walking and running, and did upper body reps on the Bow-flex.

Hope everyone had a good day!

barbmouse = part of my first name + mouse because we love Mickey!!

Leanne,
Do use the 35 points! I think you will see better results!

Go Black!!

Mine just comes from the fact that my favorite character is Goofy!

I have been doing very well on the diet aspect but this morning I woke up with the worst lower back pain. I can barely stand up. This is blowing my exercise routine. I hope I wake up tomorrow and it is gone as fast as it came.

OK, long story short.........ish.
When my first daughter was born she was jaundiced. they had to put her on this table with lights on it and it kindof had her strapped down.

She looked like a speed bump! So........bumpkin.
Bumpkin evolved into Bunkkin.

Herego: bunkkinsmom.

She is still my little bunk!

It's my first name, the initials of my last name and my birth year.

Sorry that I seem to stalk this thread, I can't help it, it's because of the time zones.

OK, it's lunch hour here. I brought with me the protein shake (that I find absolutely disgusting, it's way too sweet, but there is no other option, they don't have "salt" options, everything has a strong sweet taste).
I am in a debate whether I'll go out and have a sandwich.
I am not evne hungry. It's emotional eating. I am in so much stress, all related to me quitting my job, having to do a handover at the client, getting treated really bad by my employer, etc etc etc.

I know I should eat the shake, don't eat the sandwich, but I'm getting a migraine because I keep on thinking about the sandwich! :headache:
It's really pathetic!!!!

Yesterday evening, I had the same thing: I wasn't really hungry, but was craving something like pasta or pizza or what not. I ate mushroom, and quite some light cheese.
It's just plain horrible :(

Thing is: I MUST loose at least 4 punds by Sunday, I'm leaving on vacation, and would like to fit in some of my vacation/ summer clothes. It's not like I will be able to buy anything new, they only sell winter clothes in stores right now!

I KNOW what I have to do, but it's making me crazy!!!!!!

Good Morning Just a quick post to get the QOTD up

Question of the Day
Name Something you like about yourself

Will be back later. Got into work late this morning.

Morning! Busy weekend, broke my finger at work and with OT and all the paperwork, my weekend eating and exercise were terrible! Just no time for anything!

Anyways, Yesterday's question - my DIS name is my last name plus what we want to do on vacation - have fun!

Have to get back to packing. We go on our DCL cruise and WDW vacation in a week and a half. Since the weather has moved to fall here I can pack all my shorts and such and still have clothes to wear! Then in to work for 2 more hours of OT before shift.

Hope everyone is having a losing week!

Since I seem to be 2 questions down....
Raenstoirm-long story. I certain faiths you chose a name for yourself. Mine is one of them. I chose Rainstorm for many reasons..a storm is powerful, independent, dangerous, but also purifying, refreshing and beautiful. All things I attribute to myself. I added the "i" to it to signify that "I am....." all these things. And of course I had to change the way Rain is spelled to match my birth name, CarlaRae.

As for what I like about myself, I would have to say both my best and worst quality is my indifferent fearlessness. What I mean by that is simple. I can have a knock out fight with anyone about anything and I will walk away with no hard feelings, when most other people in the world would never speak to the person they were fighting with again, or they would at least hold a grudge. I don't get angry. Really and truly I don't, but on the off chance I do (I can think of 2 times in the last 7 years) watch out cause I am out for blood. I say fearlessness, because I will have these knock down-drag out fights with anyone. I would love to sit in the room with McCain and Obama and tell them what they are doing wrong and what they need to do to actually help America. While were at it, add Bush in there too. I would have no fear or awe of these men just because they are (or will be) the rulers of the free world.
That, I have been told, is extremely unique. At a past job, I was always the one that was to call all of the heads of state and some of the greatest minds in the world to invite them to (more often then not, convince them to attend) our events because I didn't flounder on the phone while speaking to them.

The funny thing about that, as I child I was so painfully shy, I wouldn't even talk to the waitress at a restaurant!

Hey Losers!

I hope you are enjoying our challenge so far. I am completing our final weekly tabulations so look for my official announcement later this evening. It will name our weekly Biggest Losers. But for now I have some things I need to discuss with everyone.

First a gentle reminder about weight reports.

*Send a report every week. I have seen folks on their team threads talking about their week but they have not reported to me.

*Include your weight in pounds each week. Saying you lost 2 pounds makes more work for me because I have to find your weight from last week and then subtract the two pounds to get this weeks weight.

*I do not need a running total of what your weight is doing. ie initial weight 150 lbs, week 1 - 148 lbs, week 2 - 145 lbs. Just tell me your weight at that weigh in. If you also want to include how you did for the week (I lost 2 pounds) that is OK. It can help me check and make sure I have the same results for you. Reporting your loss is optional and not required.

*Always include what team you are on. If your PM includes your team in your siggie that can speak for you. I do have a chart of who is on what team but it takes time for me to look you up. If you forget your team another message is not necessary because I will use my chart. I do not need more messages to get through on weigh in days.

*If you use email aways include your DIS name and team.

*I appreciate the thoughts included with your weight reports but just keep it short and sweet. Please keep in mind that I can not respond to all of them. There just is not enough hours in the day and DH thinks I DIS WAY too much already.

*If you are late send the report anyway. I will include your progress if I can for the week.

*If you know you will miss a weigh in please let me know. I worry very much when I do not hear from you.

*There is never a need to apologize for your weight. If you gain do not skip your report because you think it will hurt your team. Be honest, be accountable, report anyway. Then regroup and try your hardest to do better the next week. This is not a sprint to the finish. This is an endurance race. For some of us the race will last longer than for others. We need to get to our destinations with a slow and steady pace. There will be bumps and obstacles on the way and we are all here to help each other along.

Now on to other matters. In her initial weight report last week Pickles521 from the Red Team asked me "Are you also wanting to lose weight? Or do you do this because you've been there?" Losers let me tell you why I do what I do.

I am a DIS lurker. Doing this forces me to be more involved than I would normally be. Every week I post results and get to talk to you. I want to inspire you and let you know that YOU CAN DO IT. I have not 'been there, done that' I am right in the trenches with you. I have well over 100 pounds to lose.

I am a 49 year old grandma of two. All three kids are grown and gone. I live in MD and they all live out west. Right now DHs business is doing better that it has in the 28 it has been in existence. I have the luxury of staying home and my only job is to make his life easier so he can run the business. I help a little in the office and goof around alot. Life is sweet and I want to be around to enjoy it for a long long time so I have to lose weight to get healthy.

So now lets talk about you. As a numbers freak I love to examine and compare numbers. Let's take a look at the initial makeup of our Biggest Loser teams.

team-------------Black----Blue----Red

participants-------48-----47-----47
not reporting-------3-----2------3
weigh ins----------45-----45-----44

125 pounds or less---0-----0-----1

total---------------45----45----44

total weight----9111.0---9220.3---9009.6
average weight--202.5----204.9----204.8

So there is our staring point. A total of 142 participants. How many will make it to the end? Make a commitment today to finish this challenge no matter what. Yes it takes work, yes it is hard. But remember YOU ARE WORTH IT!

You will only get out of this challenge what you put into it. If you take it seriously and strive to make positive changes in your life I guarantee that you will see results. They may not be immediate or drastic but positive changes will help you meet your weight loss goals.

Remember as MelanieC from the blue team (spoiler - one of our week 1 Biggest Loser Superstars) says 'It's a journey, not a destination!' There is much we have to learn on our journey to good health. Enjoy the journey and savor the sights along the way. Enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow losers that are also on their own journey. I'm happy to be traveling with you and wish you success as we move forward on our individual paths.

Stay tuned for the official announcement coming this evening!!

Keep up the great work losers!!

Tough question for me...I'm my own worst critic/enemy. I'd have to say that I like the fact that I've finally reached an age/maturity that I'm not as concerned what other people think. I'll go walk my dogs in a pink stroller wearing my 'dork' hat (as my DD calls it) if I want to. I'm not afraid to act like a kid. My motto is 'Aging is mandatory, Growing up is optional'. If I feel like going rock climbing, I'm gonna do it. Just cuz I'm pushing 49 doesn't mean I can't do what I am able to do.

Hear Ye Hear Ye, the Weightkeeper speaks

This is it. This is the results show. Settle into your seat and prepare to be amazed and inspired by the accomplishments of your fellow losers. And the biggest question is 'Will your name be on the list?'

Black Team week 1

48 participants
-3 members that have not reported in at all
-13 members that missed week 1 weigh in
32 weigh ins

3 newbies
1 gains totaling 1 lb
2 maintains
26 losses totaling 73.4 lbs

Total weekly loss 72.4 lbs

Now the excitement builds. Let's look at our Black Team Superstars.

Please note - I love knowing your first name. I realize some like to be anonymous here but knowing your first name makes me feel you are an old friend. If you include it in your signature, a post, or a report to me I will use it to recognize you. If you prefer me not to use your first name just let me know. If you would like me to know your first name include it with your weight report.

Keep in mind these percentages are the percentage of weight lost this week. It is computed by dividing your weight lost for the week by your weight at the beginning of the week. I strive to be thorough in my calculations but remember I am human. If you have a concern then contact me.

Are we ready now? Can you stand the suspense?

That is a tough question. Lately it has been hard to find anything I like about myself.

How about I like that I am trying to make changes for the better.

My username speaks for itself. My name is Lynne and I was called Lynnie the Pooh by my family while I was growing up. I had many stuffed Poohbears and loved my Winnie the Pooh books. To this day my brothers and sister still call me Pooh. Unfortunately, I have his figure, too :rotfl:
The thing I like best about myself is my integrity. I'm honest and if I say I will do something, you can count on me!
I'm doing good with the exercise and holding my own with the eating. I have been thinking twice before I eat some things. I don't want to let my team down. It helps me stay motivated knowing that I am accountable.

GO TEAM

I didn't see the results before I posted. Yeah Team!!!!!! WooHoo!!!!!!
Congratulations Tana!!!!!!
