Congratulations to all our losers here, some pretty impressive numbers up there.

:grouphug: Hugs to those who maintained or gained. We are all in this together and we will all have our ups and downs. Sticking with it and not giving up is what will get us to our goals.

I am down 1.2 this week, and thrilled after a couple of big snacking nights. I have been exercising this week, either watp tapes, or walking outside, and that saved me. I'm switching back to ww flex from core, since I didn't stay on core for the whole week, and am going to start journalling every bite again.

:welcome: to our new team mates! Keep up the great work and have a wonderful weekend.:cheer2:

First off...howdy to MickeyMagic! We seem to be starting about the same weight with a similar goal. GOOOO us! As to the Disney Marathon...if you are exercising anyway (even walking) you might consider signing up for the Princess 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles) or the Princess 5k next March. That is how I am motivating myself to exercise everyday...I signed up for the 1/2. Even got my mum motivated to sign up for the 5k. We don't run...she walks everything and I 'jog'/walk (jog a minute, walk for 2). We aren't fast, but we'll get to the finish. As a shorter distance, you'd be able to complete it. Drop me a msg if you have questions or want more info. :)

NOW my frustration...RETAINING WATER!!! *arrrrrgh* the bane of my existance! I have been working out at the gym everyday, averaging 30-45 minutes of cardio, in the 'fat burning' zone (140bpm-160) for extended periods, PLUS lifting weights 3 days a week...and after a 2lb loss on Thursday, maintained for the weigh in, I've GAINED a pound today. And I know it is water weight because I feel 'puffy' today (my lips feel like they have been botoxed!). It isn't a hormonal time.... but we had tinned baked beans last night with dinner (Publix brand)...AND I had bath yesterday as opposed to a shower. I always soak up bath water...and the beans had a moderate amount of sodium in them. *sigh*

So aside from just never eating anything from a tin or that I don't cook myself without salt, and never again luxuriating in the joy that is a warm bath after a hard workout....any suggestions for avoiding or getting rid of water weight?

Thanks in advance gang!

Howdy all!

I am a new member as of today! Forgot to join last week.

I joined the local gym last year at this time and lost about 20 lbs over the next 6 months. We then went on the DCL May repo and I haven't been back to the gym on a consistent basis since! ( I did find that weight I thought I lost tho!)

I need some rear end kicking!

Hope to get to know you all!

-- Kathy

Hi Kathy!!!!

Welcome. Good to meet you.

Lisa

Hey fellow losers (and I mean that in the nicest way)! I joined late and finally caught up reading the week 1 thread. I am 55 and may be the oldest one on the red team, but I sure don't think of myself as old!!!

I am a single mother of DD16. About 10 years ago, my DD hounded me to quit smoking until I finally did. I was not overweight at the time, but decided to allow myself to eat whatever if it meant getting past the cigarettes. Long story short, I think I replaced one addiction with another. For many years, I felt I was still better off having given up the cigarettes, but now there are so many study on how obesity is a killer, too.

Over the last few years, I have been a yo-yo, especially with the same 20 pounds. My initial goal is to lose those 20 pounds (yet again) and get under 200 and stay under 200 as I work toward my ultimate goal of 150.

I admit I am a bit intimidated reading some of the posts where people talk about running for miles. I doubt if I could run a block! Funny thing, one of my life goals is to participate in a WDW Marathon. One of these days!!! On the plus side, if I really get moving, I should have a good chance of taking off some weight.

I do belong to Curves and was going 3 or 4 times a week for the past few months and I was doing well on my eating. Then I went on a 3 week vacation to DL and on the Eastbound Panama Cruise. I only gained 2 pounds which I thought was a major victory, but then I failed to get back on track once I got home and have gained another few pounds.

So the BL Red team has come to my rescue just in time! I look forward to our time together on this journey toward better health!

Hi MickeyMagic!

Congrats on the quitting smoking. Well done.

And welcome to the RED team!!!

Lisa

Hi Angie!

My in-laws live in Midland, I visit quite often!!!!!!!!!:)

Melisa, what a small world! :goodvibes If you are ever coming to Midland and think you might have a free morning or sometime, maybe we can meet somewhere and walk or something! Now, I know why I was put on the Red Team!!! :thumbsup2

gudrench3 Welcome to the Red Team!!! Why don't you tell us abit about yourself and your goals for this thing or uh something:)

And yes we are the Flaming Hot Red team and by the end we will the Super Flaming Red Hot Hotties...

Okay, I will...thanks CharityLynn!!! I'm 28 years old and am wanting to loose about 60-70 lbs. I've been yo-yoing with my weight too much, so this time, I want to lose and keep it off for good. I'm making a lifestyle change this time. I've recently decided to become a vegetarian. If anyone has any great vegetarian recipes, I'd love to hear them. I'm trying really hard to walk at least two miles every day at work. A co-worker and I go to the basement of our building twice a day and try to get in a mile each break...we call it our Smoke Break! :rolleyes1
I'm not married, and the only children that I have are two kitty cats, Hay Hay and Smokey.
Anyway, I joined this group mainly because anything that makes me think of Walt Disney World and getting to go back makes me so happy. For example, the other night at the gym, I was walking on the treadmill and desperatly wanted to get off and go home, and the John and Kate +8 Goes to Disney World show came on, so I made myself stay on through that show. And I never did notice my feet hurting during that show! :confused3

Hi all-
Excellent results! I'm so proud of our efforts! And I agree -- even a .1 loss will never be an "only" -- it's a victory!

I'm down 1.5 pounds this week! And I'm now under 150 for the first time in ages and ages!!!! :thumbsup2

This is going to sound wacko, but drink more water!!!:drinking1 You gotta flush out the extra sodium and the only way to do it is with more water. I know it seems counter intuitive, but that is why we drink so much water each day, to keep hydrated and flush out what we don't want. I know for myself that when I eat out or eat something really salty, that I need to drink way more water than usual.

Hope this helps!! Keep up the good work!!

I will be in Midland around the end of January. I will PM you and we will walk!!!!!!!!!!!!:yay:

Good Morning all!

So, so, SOOO proud of everyone! YAY RED!!!!!!

I've been doing very, very badly food wise. I KNOW I am but just can't stop myself. My water cooler died, so I'm having a hard time getting my water in, no excuse, just the facts maam ;) Thursday I over-did it in the morning, then didn't eat lunch, then by the time the kids were eating pizza...I was starving and ate 3 pieces! Which is fine..but then we had a dinner out at a fancy shmancy hotel, the Ritz, in a Ramadaan Tent, a company event. I ate fried shrimp, prime rib, dessert. Ugh. Friday was better, yesterday was better. Today I will be back on track. AND its that-time-of-the-month so I'm all puffed up and craving chocolate :scared1:

But this is a new week...babysteps...forward...

I DID walk the dog for 20 min last night with my 8yr old son! Babysteps!

Have a great week everyone!
Katy

Yesterday was awful as far as food and exercise go. The worst day I have had in 10 weeks! But today is a new day. I am staring off right with a granola bar and water as well as my multivitamin. I can't change yesterday, but I can make today great!

Sarah

I have been up and down this week food & exercise wise. I had a few days were I couldnt exercise because of work. And then Friday my food went all wacky. To top it off a truck driver (I work in a manufacturing plant most days) brought me in hot chocolate. Approx 400 calories of chocolately goodness. That just put me over the top. But I got back on track yesterday and did very well.

I got in 1 hour of exercise on Friday. And 1 hour 45 mins yesterday. i love having my treadmill (now that I can use it) because I can just turn it on jump on and walk while I watch TV. In this case i watched the second half of the biggest loser from tuesday.

Today the plan is to get in at least 30 mins on the treadmill and 45 mins in home walking DVD.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday. And remember that this is lifestyle change and in life things can be unpredictible. We all just have to make the best choice for the situation. And there are no failures just bumps in the road.

Well I'm getting sick:( Veronica did you pass them germs this way? LOL Actually my daughter has been sick so it was going to happen sooner or later. I have zero energy and my whole body is achy. I'll do my best to exercise and eat right hopefully its just a 24 hour thing and it be gone by tomorrow.

Haven't done horrible on food but definitly not great either through the weekend. But I can't taste anything right nowso I don't really want to eat.

Charity, I swear it wasn't me:rolleyes1 I am still battling this stupid cold thing. But I did go running this morning. 5mile run, 2 mile walk. Ran with FIL and hubby cousin who was home visiting. She made goal at WW 3 weeks ago. She is a better runner than I am, but I enjoy going with her.

Trying very hard to get back on track-today is my day though!! Food has been dicey the last few days, but I am really buckling down to do better.

For those who had posted that they felt intimidated by those of us who run, please don't!!! I was once unable to run at all, but stuck to a program similar to C25k that got me to where I am. It was not an overnight thing, and I am in no way going to win any races any time soon. But it is great exercise and I tend to push myself very hard to improve. I am not a body built for running, but I continue at it because I do enjoy it and the results. I hope that my "success" at running helps to inspire someone else to start, or keep going with it. I still feel "inferior" when I go to races and events because I am not thin and super fit, but WHO CARES?? I am out there for myself and no one else. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

The only run you can't finish is the one you never start!

I plan on starting to use the Walk Away The Pounds DVD's begining today. I'm also going to seriously attempt to drink my water every day. [/COLOR]

how do you like WATP? i  them

I did three miles yesterday, mostly walking with a bit of running, and I beat my previous time by 5 and a half minutes!! I'm under the time required for the Everest Expedition!! YAY! I'm so excitied!

:yay: :yay: :yay: that is fantastic!

I'm down two pounds. But I'll tell you what - I came on the BL this time to learn a lesson. Actually an all around lesson - not only about weight. To not try to be, hmmm perfect. I'm an all or nothing girl. And that doesn't work well. In that, I want to be okay posting gains and maintains. That's an issue with me. It used to make me want to quit. Not anymore. And just to know that it's okay. Sometimes the scale simply doesn't show what one has done. And sometimes life takes over. And emotions take over.

Either way it's all good. We're here. Onward.

A new day. :lovestruc

this was worth repeating ::yes:: and i may need to hear it often! i get hung up too on not following a plan 'perfectly', or caving and binging on a food and then feeling crappy, etc. has anyone watched How To Look Good Naked show? did i mention this already? sorry if I did but it is a wonderful show on accepting our bodies with all our 'flaws' without negative self-imagary....

I admit I am a bit intimidated reading some of the posts where people talk about running for miles. I doubt if I could run a block! Funny thing, one of my life goals is to participate in a WDW Marathon. One of these days!!! On the plus side, if I really get moving, I should have a good chance of taking off some weight.

i would like to echo to not feel intimidated! we ALL started new and I admire any and all of us who get out and put the steps in! whether it's jogging, running, walking, wogging, or whichever way is individually preferred. i myself call it 'powerwalking' i used to run but i hated it and developed tendonitis. which led to my walking option and discovered the stride is 'much more better' as Captain Jack says. it works best for me and you too will find a style that works for you! one day I aspire to cross the WDW marathon finish line too.....

! I am in awe of the folks that run and run and run. I also have hopes of being able to participate in a WDW race event. Right now I'm just a walker...and haven't made a 15 minute mile, but I'll get there! I'm .7mpg faster than I was when I started, and it's good to see that number going up. I faithfully journal what I'm doing each day so I can see my progress. Slow, but steady, but I'm getting faster! So, dont' worry about running anywhere yet...just start out where you're comfortable and it'll all come together!:yay:

"just a walker" :scared1: don't sell yourself short! or the sport! :cool1: i know you didn't mean it 'that way'.....walking burns calories, builds muscle and gets a heart a pumping too! and cyber high five on the pace increase, that is great work! have you ever tried 'speed intervals'? it was a way I found to speed up a bit. let me know if you want me to elaborate.

PA -- i just multi-quoted (and yes i just learned how too!) when i read a post that i had to add my .02 :upsidedow i don't want anyone feeling offended or left-out by my replies :flower3: each and every teammie here is important to me and i need you ALL! :grouphug:

ok -- i'll try to make this brief  i am home from a fab time in Vegas :woohoo: and joyfully i report i only left a small portion of my 'gambling entertainment' fund there. but i did manage to bring home 5 lbs of fluff! yes i WI today 5 lbs heavier than my initial WI. (I missed last week on vacation) so today i've been doing very well all day. we are heading out to grab a bite of dinner and i'm determined to order a salad and keep it small for toppings. i have been chugging water all day. exercise didn't happen as i'm a bit jet-lagged, but tomorrow I will get my endurance LW (long walk) done that was scheduled for saturday. also I meet with a trainer at the gym in the evening. i did enjoy some very heavenly meals.....and desserts.....but time to get moving! i have 2 weeks before we go on our impromptu trip to WDW and i really want to shed that 5 before hand!

i'm envious of you repo cruisers!! how was it????? too much????

Bad day yesterday. I went to a b-day party, and my biggest mistake was going hungry! I ate everything in sight. Sad part is, today I am down 2 pounds, but I bet they'll find me again tomorrow! Today is a much better day!

And remember that this is lifestyle change and in life things can be unpredictible. We all just have to make the best choice for the situation. And there are no failures just bumps in the road.

I really like this statement. The fact that this is a lifestyle change and not just some quick fix to lose a few pounds. I think for a while that was the hardest thing for me to accept, that this is something I'm going to be doing for the rest of my life. Now that I have accepted that, everything from exercise and how I look at food, seems much more beneficial to me now.

My day has been a good one but no exercise. I don't think I'll do any on Sundays and will make that my day off. Food has been excellent and I'm really happy about that. For breakfast I had a Slimfast when I first woke up and some high fiber oatmeal a little later. For lunch I had a 1/2 cup beans seasoned only with pepper with a small and I mean small piece of cornbread. I had a pack of 100 calorie snacks this afternoon and just finished a 6 inch veggie sub from Subway. Water has been about 80oz and I plan on not drinking much more the rest of the evening or I'll be awake all night going to the bathroom.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday Red Team :goodvibes

have you ever tried 'speed intervals'? it was a way I found to speed up a bit. let me know if you want me to elaborate.

Yes, please elaborate! (I'm laughing at myself about my .7mpg typo. I guess sometimes it really does feel like I'm running out of fuel! LOL)

I'm new to this whole biggest loser thing, so I have a newbie question. When do we find out which team won for the week?

I'm new to this whole biggest loser thing, so I have a newbie question. When do we find out which team won for the week?

I was wondering the same thing!;)

I had grand plans of eating good this weekend even with company over and going to the zoo. But I didn't quite succeed. I even ate birthday cake yesterday. My scale was up about 2.5 pounds today. Thankfully, I have all week to take those off. It won't look good for my weigh in at work today. :confused3

Hope everyone else has a good start to their week.

RhondaL

Happy Monday morning everyone! My weekend was somewhat successful as far as food goes. I did eat a bit of junk, but not the amount I usually would...I saved the splurges for stuff I really wanted! The half marathon was great, the weather was wonderful, and afterward I spotted a girl in a W.I.S.H. shirt...I was so excited! I introduced myself, and she was running with a friend who is also here on the boards, so I got to meet 2 WISHers! It was so cool to see some of these people in real life! What a great way to top off the day.

It looks like overall we had a pretty good first week. I'm anxious, too, to know when we found out how our team did against the others.

For me, it will be about pushing the water this week...GO TEAM!:cheer2:
