Good morning Red Team! Welcome to week 7. Yes week 7 already. Today is weigh in day so please report your weight to me by midnight tonight, Tuesday.

How are things going for you? I'm assuming everything is good because the post count on our threads is steadily decreasing. Week 1 was 126, 2 - 89, 3 -99, 4 - 100 (that was up), 5 - 75, and 6 - 43. The black team asked it's members to check in everyday and log their food intake. Their post numbers surpassed ours last week 46 to our 43. Does any of this really matter? Probably not. Being the numbers girl I am I just notice these things. The important thing is that we are losing and developing new healthy habits. I hope you have had a good week Red Team.

Red Team qustion of the day

Do you have or have you had any pets? Tell about them.

Me first. Growing up the only pet we ever had was goldfish. We only had one at a time and kept them in a bowl, not an aquarium. My husband grew up with cats and we have had several outside cats over the years. Being the worrier that I am I always worried too much about the cats. We had one give birth once and I think I worried more about her kittens than she did. We always let them have one litter and then got them spayed. A few years ago we lost the last cat and never got a new one. With the kids growing up and leaving the last thing I need is something else to worry about. I do miss having a cat to cuddle with, but the last few had were not cuddlers anyway.

Well that's my story for the day. What's your story? What's on your mind? This thread is for you, for us. Let's use it to our best advantage and really help each other this week.

Sorry I have been missing this past week. I barely have had time to check the boards to make sure there wasn't anything I was missing let alone post.

I did have a good weigh in this week. Down 2.2. We ran 10 miles on Saturday so I was pretty proud of myself for making it the whole time. I can't believe that will be an easy run for me in December. My legs were dying by mile 9.

We have 2 cats. They are the cats I have had since college and they just sort of get used to everything I throw at them from a new husband and now to little girls who love to chase them.

Good week for me as well. :thumbsup2 Since starting this myself in mid August I passed the 25 pound mark!!!

Pets...I am not sure where to start. Growing up I had St. Bernards and Basset Hounds and cats...not to mention the sundry of strays I always seemed to bring home. As and adult I have had numerous cats in and out of my life including my current 4 that includes my "little" one named Little Red although she is more like Big Red, lol. We also have had 3 St. Bernards, 1 we had to put down at 2 due to many many health issues and his horrible suffering.:sad1: We next got a rescue that they neglected to tell us bit a child, we had 4 then, and we ended up finding a super adult home for him. Our old lady came next. Daisy will be 12 in January, sleeps alot, is selectively deaf and has trouble seeing close up objects...she does run around the yard like a pup still, lol! We also had 2 rats that have since died, they make awesome pets but with 4 cats...I don't want to tempt anyone.:goodvibes

Have a great day RED TEAM!:cheer2:

One good note...I did not need to park in handicap at the market yesterday. I parked halfway down and was able to walk with no shopping cart with minimal pain! My ortho is going to love me, lol.:thumbsup2

Good for you!!!!

I had a good week, I lost 3 whole pounds this week which is good because last week was not good at all.

Question of the day:

We have 2 cats, a Calico named Callie (very original) and a black cat named Autumn. Not sure why she is named Autumn but since she is very high maintenance I call her Miss Autumn. My oldest DD wanted to name her Prudence :confused3 and I vetoed that so she became Autumn. Autumn was born on St Patricks Day and we got her from a neighbor. Callie was an SPCA adoption and when we got her they said she was about 7-8 weeks old, so we counted back and 8 weeks was St. Patricks Day, so both of them share the same birthday. (maybe since we really aren't sure about Callie it is just the date we picked when we got her and Callie is the older of the 2).

Before the cats we had a Cocker Spaniel. She was a very sickly dog and we ended up having to put her to sleep and after that I swore I would never own another dog and I never will. It just broke my heart. Growing up we had poodles, my Dad would never have a cat in the house.:confused3

Reporting in.

Phooey, I gained a pound - sorry about that, but maybe it wil help to actually report in to you all. I didn't watch what I ate, especially this weekend and snacked too much. Suppose I really should get out and walk (whine whine) but I really don't wanna.

Nancy, I want your just-finished week to be my next week - I would love to lose three pounds. It just seems like I get so hungry sometimes even though I do eat sensibly.

Pets? Oh my...growing up we showed horses and had dogs, cats, chickens. Since I've been married we've only had cats. This latest set are two odd ones. We adopted them from a local shelter & they are both (unrelated) tuxedo cats and not cuddly, which I greatly miss. Our last ones were cuddlers with us, (not with each other, though), and they hardly ever bit or scratched. Now these two...will seem fine, be purring and then will all of a sudden lash out. Very odd, they seem to run hot or cold. The male cat, James, has calmed down quite a bit and seems to really like DH. Sugar, the one who LOOKS cute and cuddly, is *not*. I miss having cats that would just hang out with us.

when i was growing up we had a variety of animals.

we had a fish named oscar (a red oscar), who ate his tank mates. i also had a number of gerbils and hamsters (cinnamon, sugar, snowflake and sprinkles), we had 2 parakeets (not at the same time) and one lived for 10 years. i also had a dog named jasmine, a springer spaniel, who we had to put down in 2004 because of her diabetes (she had cataracts, couldn't walk and had a poor quality of life overall when she got diabetes, even with insulin shots). my parents recently got a cat, an orange tabby stray named ollie that my sister brought home from college with her. my sister has 3 gerbils still (i don't know their names) and my favorite right now... buddy, the guinea pig.

here are some pictures of ollie and buddy:

agnes!....here I'm passing my week on to you. Last week I think I lost a whole .5 pounds, that is the worst week I have had since starting WW. This week I just ate a lot more salad (with ff dressing) and lots of fruits and veggies. PLUS I increased my water. I still ate pizza and even went to McDonalds one day.

Sometimes I can't figure out why one week I lose a good amount and the next I lose a small amount. :confused3

LETS GO RED TEAM!!!!

No change for me this week. I had a really bad week and I am really surprised that I didn't gain. I was not motivated at all. This week will be better.

We have a dalmatian that is 11 years old. She is such a smart dog and is starting to show her age. She has to be by one of us at all times. My girls just love her. She follows them around the house and sleeps with one of them every night.

I had a good week, down 2. This week I was able to get into a pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear in a while. :thumbsup2

As for pets. We started out with a dog named Minnie when I was about 11, she was a poodle maltese mix. She died when I was about 22 or 23. My next pet was a cat originally named Baby, over the years his name changed to Plex though. I had him for 19 yrs and we had to put him to sleep in June.

We also have a dog named Breeka, she is an American Eskimo and will be 14 next month.

We have 2 ferrets named Snoozer and Pinball. Snoozer is about 4, Pinball is about 3. We have a carnival fish that is going on it's 2nd yr, his name is Naruto.

We also have a kitten that we got after we put our cat to sleep is name is Luigi.

I had a good week (finally)! I lost a little over 2 pounds, so I'm thrilled. I just started going to WW meetings again, so I think it's finally kicking in! I'm a little nervous about this weekend since I'm going to stay with a friend, so I won't be in control of my food choices. But, I'm going to save my weekly 35 points and use them then.

Anyways, growing up we always had cats. Kitty (original name, right?) died around Thanksgiving two years ago. It was really sad b/c she was the cat I grew up with. She was 15 years old. My family had her from the time I was little all the way until a few years after college. I'd love to get another cat now, but haven't been able to b/c most of my apartment buildings didn't allow them.

Glad to see my team-mates loosing weight! WEIGH TO GO! :thumbsup2 ...especially since I had another week of no change......

We had assorted dogs as I was growing up....but it seems there were lots of years we were pet-less and ASKING for another dog. One of my dad's favorite expressions, when he was leaving the house and we would ask where he was going, was "To see a man about a dog". Well, one day he said that, then said "Want to come along?" So, of course we did, but we didn't really think it was to get a dog...but we did! Good job Dad! As I reached my teen years, youngest sister found out one of our favorite neighborhood dogs was about to become a daddy. So she asked if we could get one of the puppies, because we all (every kid in the neighborhood) loved him so. Well, there was only one in the litter that looked like him, so Bridget O'Flynn came home to live with us at 8 weeks old. She was the only dog we raised from a puppy, and after all of us kids were grown and out of the house, she was my dad's constant companion. She was a great dog!

(I'll come back later and tell the HORSE story.)

Reported in. Sorry no change for me again this week.

Off to finish the Sox and Indians Game!!!

For those with no change...just think, no change means no gain. You maintained and that is good too!

new challenge posted

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1612295

I might have some problems with this one. I don't eat beans at all and fresh berries this time of year are very, very expensive here in the north.

Do you have a Costco near you? They have a frozen berry mix that is reasonable, not nearly as good as fresh but OK to make smoothies with.

Another weigh in day done. Thank you to everyone that has checked in. I am still waiting on 10 people and the first friendly reminder PMs have been sent.

As Nancy mentioned in her post our new Weekly Team Challenge has been posted here. It is our second nutrition challenge designed to encourage us to try new healthy foods. It is a little more difficult than the first nutrition challenge. It may be harder to rack up the points with this one, but please at least try to earn some points. Remember EVERY POINT COUNTS! We lost the last weekly challenge by only 20 points. We really need your participation.

Red Team question of the day

tinkamom has just returned from a cruise, a journey to paradise. Tell about your favorite vacation.

Me First. This is hard because there are so many. I guess I would have to say my favorite was our cruisetour to Alaska with Holland America in August 05 for our 25th wedding anniversary. It was our first cruise and an amazing experience. I would cruise again tomorrow but DH got tired of the 4 course meals every night.

Red Team, what are you up to today? Print out that team challenge. Get to work. We can do it.

Have a healthy day!

Red Team Rocks!!!

I've been thinking of you and your quest to quit smoking. How is it going? I know you have to power to conquer this addiction. Hang in there and don't give up. You can do it!!!

I *love* our Trader Joe's! But even if you don't have one near you, you can still go on their website. It's very positive and has lots of great ideas and good consumer information (take a look at the Product FAQs page).
