Welcome to week 15!! WOW! Only one week left!

Sorry simpilotswife (Kimberly) that the new weekly thread wasn't started for you. You are certainly an early bird today.

Today is weigh in day. When reporting your weight for the week please include the exact number XXX pounds, you may add your weekly change if you would like (I lost/gained XX pounds this week).

Keep exercising. The weekly team challenge runs until midnight tonight. Please report your total points to me by Thursday at 3 PM. If you are late PM anyway, I will use your numbers if I can.

SparkPeople's daily tip for healthier holidays

Enjoy a pre-party snack. If you arrive famished, you're more likely to devour too much of the wrong things. Try a combination of fiber, protein and healthy fats for more filling power.

Red Team question of the day

Tell about your holiday decorations. Any lights outside?

Me first. Since DH is an electrical contractor you would think I would have a lovely holiday light display. Nope, not here. The last time we had lights outside the boys were in charge. They enjoyed climbing on the roof. I am not a decorator. Nothing up here at all. We are going away for the holidays so we will not be putting up a tree. It was all so fun when the kids were here but with the two of us it's why bother? Some times I just feel like Scrooge. After decluttering with DS I am still finishing arranging the living room. Eventually I would like to set up our Nativity on a coffee table that needs to be moved first.

So Red Team how are you doing? Did you have a successful week? What are your plans to make this last week the best one yet? We are finishing up this part of our journey together. I have enjoyed our time together and hope this last week is great for us all.

Have a healthy day!

Lost some more this week, yahoo...I am almost at my first goal.

QOTD...I have the pictures of my outside but have no idea how to post them??? Techno challenged!

Robin...Happy Birthday

Agnes...all I can say is lol, I hope your day is better!

Brenda...thanks for all that you do.:goodvibes

i thought i'd say good morning before i left for the gym.

we don't have lights anywhere outside here, since we live in an apartment. the most i do is decorate inside. i put our christmas tree up the day i got back from thanksgiving. i've been able to enjoy it for a couple of weeks so far and i love feeling christmasy.

i have a big exam on monday (our last one of the semester). i'm nervous, but i think i'll do alright. this entire week is devoted to studying. i already told my boss that i won't be coming into lab this week too much.

Hey all,

I had a good weigh in this week, thank goodness.

For our holiday decorations we just put up the tree and have a few things around the house. The ornaments are slowly moving up the tree though because my 1 year old keeps pulling the ornaments off, so now about the lower quarter of the tree is now bare.

Hi, sorry I haven't been around much this past week. It's been pretty busy for me. I just found the weekly challenge thread, so I'm hoping to contribute some points. I took the exercise personality quiz and it said:

Your Personality Type: ORGANIZED
You feel best when life is orderly. You're punctual, dutiful, and once you agree to something, you're likely to follow through. You like rules and routine.

Your Exercise Rx:
Result-oriented workouts. You like a schedule. It's no problem for you to set aside a block of time each day for exercise or even to stick with an activity that's repetitious. But to keep your interest, you need feedback. That's why cardio machines, which let you methodically monitor your progress, might be just the ticket. If you prefer the outdoor versions of repetitive sports, keep a fitness log to monitor your progress.

I think it sounds really accurate. I love to run and I have no problem sticking to a scheduled exercise routine. In fact, I plan my exercise out the week in advance and get aggravated if I have to change it around.

Anyways, I hope everyone else is having a good week. I love to decorate for Christmas inside. Not so much outside w/ a ton of lights. That's too much work. :santa:

Brenda, I have to wake the kiddoes at 6:00 so I'm usually on early.

Our outside decorations are up but we might add some more this weekend. We use net lights on our bushes and one of those spiral Christmas trees but it is multi-colored and flashes which makes it different which I like. We also have a Santa made out of lights that waves.

We have a new decoration this year, it is a snowman made out of pretty garland that lights up. It was a pain to put together but it looks really nice and no one else has one yet.

We have an inflatable Pooh and friends decoration but we didn't put that up yet. That is what might go up this weekend.

Hey, where *IS* everybody?

For decorations... Outside, we have a inflatable snowglobe up that blows around 'snow' within the globe. It has a snowman and a Santa in it. We also have an inflatable Mickey & Minnie driving a red car. And some LED lights on some of the bushes in front. Inside, the tree is up and deocrated and lit.

But I hate taking Christmas decorations down...ugh.*So* upsetting to put all that stuff away.

Yes, I am late today checking in. Thanks to those that have visited our thread today. Oh wait a minute that would be NO ONE, they were all here yesterday. (OOPs agnes! checked in while I was composing - Good to see you agnes!). I am missing my red team peeps. I had 11 people not checking in this week and I miss them. I usually send pesky reminder PMs but did not this week. Should I, do they even care about hearing from me?

I have send our weekly numbers to the other team captains. We had another miserable week with the weekly challenge. I got numbers from 3 people. I also looked on our thread and counted the 5 points from each of 5 team members who took the quiz but did not report in to me. If anyone has weights or challenge point totals go ahead and PM me. I will use the numbers if I can.

SparkPeople's daily tip for healthier holidays

Wash your hands. The holiday season coincides with cold and flu season. Keep germs at bay by washing your hands well after shopping, visiting and more. No one wants sickness to interfere with their fun!

Well that sure is good information but not too healthy eating related. Let's look at the tip for December 1st.

Take inventory. Identify all the situations (office parties, mall food courts, family gatherings) that make it difficult for you to eat healthy during the holiday season. Make a plan for staying on track in every situation.

That's better. I have not done well with the holiday gatherings I have attended so far but I have one more on the 21st. I will work on a game plan for that night. We will also be taking a road trip for the holidays and I have a very difficult time eating healthy while traveling. I will also have to work on a game plan for that occasion also.

Red Team question of the day

What did you do today that you are proud of?

Me first. I am a terrible procrastinator. Recently I have decided that I do this to torture myself with guilt. My mind sometimes just doesn't function normally and I know I do things to hurt myself and procrastinating is definitely a big problem for me. Well today I turned in some Scout registration forms that I have held onto for at least 6 weeks. Registration forms should be turned in immediately but I am a procrastinator. Some of these poor boys earned awards that could not be given to them because they are not officially registered yet. I made a promise to myself that I will now forward all registration forms within one week after receiving them. I will publicly make this declaration to several scout buddies so they can help keep me in line.

My other great accomplishment today was that I made a list of the serious things that I have been putting off. The list doesn't look as bad as I thought it would and I know if I work on it every day I can get everything done so I will not constantly worry about it anymore. There are only 9 projects that will keep me busy for awhile but I will feel so wonderful when they are done.

What have you done today Red Team that is wonderful? It certainly doesn't have to be earth shattering, just something that you are excited about. Come on and toot your own horn, tell us what you have been up to.

Have a healthy day!

Today is Wednesday...I thought the Weekly Team Challenge was due tomorrow? (But then again it's been a nasty week in all sorts of ways, so maybe I'm wrong)

agnes!

According to this...
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1654996

"The challenge begins on Wednesday December 5th at 12:01 a.m. and ends on Wednesday December 12th at midnight. Your final score must be reported in by Thursday December 13that 3 p.m. EST in order to be included in the team score."

The deadline for the Weigh-in has passed, but not the Team Challenge. We still have until tomorrow at 3pm EST to report in to you.

agnes!

Thank you agnes! for trying to keep me straight.

Attention Red Team

Your weekly team challenge point totals are due to me by 3 PM tomorrow on Thursday. The challenge runs through midnight tonight. Please PM me because every point counts.

I apologize for the confusion. I am often very confused. I also apologize for being a whiner. I appreciate all those who contribute to our Red Team, no matter what their contribution is. All team members are valuable.

Now I am off to contact the team captains and let them know my numbers will change. I think I will also PM my MIA team members to let them know they are missed.

Have a healthy day!

QOTD: I am coming down with a stomach bug and feel awful, but I completed my 9 mile run this morning. I did it on the treadmill and after every mile I convinced myself to keep going and I completed the run, so that is what I am proud of. I got nothing else accomplished today but laying around, but I did finish my run.

Robin

I'm glad you pushed through even when those last few strides felt impossible. What an accomplishment.

I hope your 'bug' leaves quickly and doesn't do much damage. It's yukky to feel yukky this time of year.

I'm proud of the fact that I did not eat the whole box of Poppycock that came in a giftbasket at work. Actually I'm proud of not disassembling the 3 giftbaskets of goodies that we have at work. :scared1:

I slept well and feel fabulous this morning. I even made breakfast for DH. I am a sweetheart. I think making my list of projects I have put off has really helped me. I have hope that I will accomplish some things today. Now if only I can get my eating under control. Today I will open the new bag of salad mix and have 2 salads. I am feeling confident so I will have also add 3 F & V to get my 5 for today. I will also exercise. For me lately this is ambitious but I know I can do it.

SparkPeople's daily tip for healthier holidays

Shop when full. Shopping on an empty stomach can lead to overeating on the unhealthy food court fare. Also stash some emergency healthy snacks in your car or purse. Try nuts, whole grain crackers, and dried fruit.

Red Team question of the day

Do you or any family members wear crocs? Are they really all that?

Me first. No crocs for me. DSs new wife has some that I tried on one day. They seemed comfortable enough. I just can't get over paying $30 for a pair of plastic shoes.

How are you doing today Red Team? How goes your journey? Stop in and say hi if you can.

Have a healthy day!

QOTD - Crocs do not work on my feet. *Really*. When I have tried them on in the stores, I walk right out of them.

Some things about my week...
DD has run into a little bit of an issue with a teacher (and in a subject) she really likes. It has not been a good week for her in that regard, plus it's made her a bit distracted with homework for some other classes, etc. and *that* has also been distressing to her.
*BUT* she was thrilled when she did well in her mile-run for gym class yesterday. (They have to do a mile run every so often - it's a fitness-testing thing.) Ever since her last class run, when she felt she didn't do so well, she has been running the entire time during regular class warmups, rather than walking and talking like many/most of her friends, trying to get a better time.
WOW, she took almost 2 minutes off of her last total and some of her friends noticed. She said she wasn't even out of breath!

I walk with my DH every morning when we can. It's nice to chat and get to visit :teeth:. Oh, PHOOEY...it just started raining and now we won't go. And I'm actually disappointed...that's a switch.

agnes!

i have one pair of crocs, the mary janes. i like the way they fit better than the regular clog style, but i can't wear them for too long or i get severe pains in my pinkie toe. i'm not sure why?? :confused3

i bought a pair for my boyfriend so he could wear to hockey, because i figured that his feet could use a break after wearing skates for an hour or so, but he told me that he thinks they are ugly and refuses to wear them. it's not about the comfort factor for him just yet in his life. i'm hoping he'll get over it sometime and put the darn things on and make his feet feel good.

QOTD--I have 2 pairs of Mary Jane Crocs. I love them. I needed more support than my flip flops this summer because my feet hurt after runs, so these seemed to do the job. And I walked around Disney for a week and got no blisters so they did the job.

Snow is coming today, yuck. Today should have been an easy day and now school is getting released early. Fun stuff.

Robin

QOTD

DD started it all out in my house with Crocs. I swore I would never wear them, ugly as sin, too expensive...then I wore them :rotfl: DD's own 4 pair between them. I have 2 pair good and 1 bang around that are not so clean looking. I LOVE THEM and am proud to say that. I can wear these babies all over WDW with no blisters and my knees are not as painful as they normal are. :confused3
