WTG VernRDH - you did AWESOME!!

So I picked up my two veggies that I have never tried before. Asparagus and Acron squash. Now I will have to try to squeeze them in before Tuesday. Will be working late tonight (8pm) so it will have to be tomorrow and Tuesday dinner. My 16yo DD is going to be brave and eat them with me my 14yo might do the acorn squash but refuses the asparagus.

I will have to go back and read the rest of the challanges. I think I have been doing pretty well with them, as they are things I normally do anyway.

I did my weigh in for the week and am very surprised, yet very happy to report a 1.8# loss for the week.

Thanks disneychrista. Asparagus and acorn squash are two veggies I like a bit. The asparagus is best steamed with a little lemon juice on it. I love squashes and acorn is one of my faves. I usually cut it in half, scoop out the middle then put the halves face down in a pyrex dish. Cover with wax paper and micro for 5 minutes. Then flip em over and micro again probably another 5 mins (depends on how big the squash is). Then I scoop em out of the skins into a bowl and add a little maple syrup, butter buds, salt and pepper. You can also use a little brown sugar instead of maple syrup. Mash it all together. YUMMY. I find that microwaving is easier than peeling them and boiling them (they are hard to cut).

Let us know how you like them!!

Well, Blue Team, I am very proud of myself. I ran my first 5k in 10 years this morning. It was great weather, not too hot or cold, a nice breeze. And I ran the whole thing. No walking. And I finished in:

37:17

Under 40 like I wanted, but not quite the 36:13 I dreamed that I finished. I did not think I could run that fast, but my MIL ran with me the whole way and I even sprinted the last 25 yards to the finish!!! I wasn't the last one to finish either!!! We were dead last for almost the first mile, but we passed a few folks here and there. The people along the route were very encouraging, and it was really great. My MIL even made sure I finished before her and told people along the way that I was setting new records for myself (my splits were 12:05 at 1mile and 23:30 at 2miles). My FIL was STUNNED:eek: to see me finish at that time!! He said he wasn't expecting me for at least another 5 minutes!!!

I thought of all of you as I ran and knew that this was what BL was about. Pushing yourself to be your best and not giving up. So this "victory" is for all of us!!!

THANK YOU my friends for being on this journey with me-I can't do it without you.

Now I am off to take some Advil. :rotfl2:

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: CONGRATULATIONS

VERONICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

You Rock!!! :cool1: :dance3: :cheer2: That is so AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did do better today than I did on Thursday and Friday, but I know there is room for improvement. We worked so hard yesterday at work, that this morning my feet hurt soooo bad, and last night I had shooting pains! :headache: I was limping for quite a while this morning because of the plantar fascitis pain, stretching out my foot didn't help at all, it hurt like the dickens.:sad2: We had an easy day at work today... NO CASES!!!! I was able to relax my feet for a little bit today, and they feel much better. I think God sent me a nice day! Thank you!!!

morning everyone

ok girls -- it seems like our honeymoon phase is over and the fun and newness may be wearing off. at least that is what usually happens for me a week or so into deciding i'm going to stick to a healthy eating plan. BUT thanksfully we have each other and when one is struggling someone else is soaring and can pick you up. i'm about in the middle right now, i've done pretty good this weekend i think. i guess Tuesday will tell. Today i'm BBQing ribs so i must plan for that and make that my big meal and low pts for the rest!

I think you are right! That is my usual M.O. I am doing things differently and confiding in DH and coming here to WISH, not dropping out of BL challenge but pushing forward!

remember -- the past is over -- we are strong b/c we pick up and move on and not let it define our journey!

Guess what? Another wonderful saying from you! I am going to print this out and paste it on my fridgerator! I LOVE THIS STATEMENT!

Hi fellow Blue Teamers! :wave2:

I have some news; I was offered a new position at work (a huge promotion) yesterday, and I've accepted it. They basically made me a custom-made offer that I couldn't refuse. lol I'll still be working my same 30 hours a week (they knew I wouldn't accept an offer of full time hours), but doing accounting work which I love to do, AND with a 50% pay increase. :woohoo: In the words of Sally Fields "they like me...they REALLY REALLY like me!" :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

THAT IS FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!! congragulations!:woohoo:

Last night was a definite win for me.
This morning I got DD up & we went to the bosque & walked our 4 miles. Time was 59:20, but I had to stop to call her on the cell to let her know I turned around, then had to answer my phone twice for her to chew me out twice for not telling her where she needed to turn around at. Then had to slow down some 'cuz her knee was hurting. Hopefully we're going to be OK for the TOT.

Princess Vija - yes, Coyotes! I live in the high desert outside of Albuquerque & they're doing so much building that the coyotes are losing their homes & hunting grounds & are coming into the neighborhoods. When my kids go to play paintball in the desert they'll walk almost right up to them in the daylight. It's neat to hear their howling at night in the distance, but quite another thing to hear it 30 ft from you.

Glad to read about your WINNING strategies! What did you mean by being OK for the TOT? Wow, the coyote thing is just amazing! I bet it is wonderful to hear them at night, from far away! To hear a growl near by... scary!

Wow, that is awesome!!! Congratulations on such a great job! That is so cool how supportive your IL's are! you are a very lucky person! And sprinting to the end, that is so awesome!!! Thanks for sharing this victory with us, you are certainly inspiring this girl who wants to run a race someday! Thank you!:flower3:

WEIGH to go!!!! :yay: That is fantastic news! I did the same as you with the fruit. I bought 2 new fruits... pluots and mango, but I have yet to try them.... baby steps!:rotfl:

Hey Blue Team!

I just wanted to check in and let you all know that I did not forget about my blue team. I was on vacation this past week and got in late last night. So I am trying to get caught up on a 100 different things!

Congrats to everyone on their losses this week! To those of us who didn't lose today is a new day and Tuesday is a new WI!

Welcome to all the new comers!

Diva Debbie, I am so glad to hear DD is doing better and you got to bring her home. :grouphug:

Friday before we left for vacation I got some not so great news about my furbaby Coco. This open wound appeared on his back Wednesday evening (he had two lumps there but the vet said it was nothing to worry about at his check up in January). I called the vets the next day and of course they could not see him until Friday. I had to scramble to find someone to watch him and his siblings (1 brother doggie and 2 sister cats) because the kennel would not take him and we were leaving Saturday early morning. Anyway we take him to the vets and they say it is a tumor that broke and he will need surgery. The surgery can cost anywhere from $650 - $2000 :scared1: That's even if he makes it through the preop testing. We are at a crossroads right now of what to do. He had some health issues in the past and we vowed never to put him through all that testing again. He's 9 and if this does turn out to be cancer it is not very hopeful. The one girl at the office said that if it was her dog she would not put him through it (they all love Coco and are very straight with me) We are beside ourselves about what to do.
Sorry to be a downer but I just needed to get that out! I do not have human children and my furbabies mean the world to me!

Hope everyone had a great week!

Here's to an upcoming successful week! :drinking:

Hey everyone,

We went to the Nascar race today in Dover DE. I was really worried about how I would handle today, but I did great.

I ate breakfas before I went and we stopped at Subway a few miles outside of Dover. I had two Kashi bar's till we got home and then I had dinner. I ended up around 1450 calories for the day.

I'm wiped though- very tired. The sun was super hot and I got a little burned from sitting in the sun for so long. The only thing I can't understand is how they still allow people to smoke in the stands and EVERY where at Nascar events????? I don't get it. Oh well, I digress!

Good Monday morning to all the BL Bluies:love:

Veronica - CONGRATS on your 5k - FABULOUS job

Seaspray - Woohoo - a new "custom" made position with a 50% pay increase - yes- they like YOU - CONGRATS - hope that all goes well - how soon do you begin?

I should be on the tm - I had such good intentions as I turned my light off last night - BUT - I just didn't sleep very well - and this morning I am already "tired" - so I am skipping it and seeing if I can't get a nice cup of caffeine (er- uh- guess that is coffee) will do the trick to get me in a better frame of mind to begin another week at work ;)

I did "decent" on the weekend - another one that is not fabulous - but decent - I am hoping that tomorrow the scale will at least be at "no change" versus a gain!

So - here we go another Monday make it a GOOD ONE :wizard: :wizard: to all!

Wow - what great news and posts on here!! Especially for Diva Deb - your daughter is doing well, that's wonderful princess: . And seaspray - how exciting for you! Huge congrats on your new position!

I needed to read these posts...needed a big boost today. Thanks to everyone for continuing to write your successes and challenges. You might not realize it at the time but it's a big help to read along. :grouphug:

Awesome Job Veronica!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

My weekend actually went pretty well after the lousy mood I was in Friday. Thanks for all the support everyone offered, I really appreciate it :) I did OK with eating and water so I'm actually looking forward to my weigh in tomorrow. I didn't work out at all over the weekend, except for some walking at a festival, but I'm going to get back on my bike again this morning and go for another 70 minute ride.

Hope everyone has a great day

Good Monday morning, everyone :wave2:

Well without going into any of the gory details, I FINALLY feel as though my digestive system is getting back to normal after last week's "really bad meal". LOL It was ONE meal, a week ago tonight, and boy did I pay the price for it, for a week! I just hope that when I get on the scale tomorrow for the official weigh in that I won't be sad with what I see. LOL Ah well...like I said, I feel so much better now.

Thanks to everyone who offered Congrats on my new job! :cool2:

LaLaroo: Welcome back from Aruba! :sunny: I'm glad you had a good time!

luckywife: I'm glad you're doing well lately! Like I just posted about, we all have those off days where we make bad decisions. I hope all of us keep our motivation to continue, even though we do sometimes make the wrong food choices. Hang in there, and way to go on the exercise! That's the part of this that is a struggle for me.

AlreadyExcitedGrammy: I start my new job today actually! LOL I was asked on Friday, gave them my answer after lunch on Friday, I signed the papers and an announcement was made to the company on Friday afternoon, and now today I am officially in my new job :surfweb: :yay:

Melanie: I've never been to a NASCAR event but I've always LOVED the idea of driving a really fast car! Maybe one of these trips to WDW we'll do the Petty Driving Experience where they teach you to drive a race car and then you get to drive one around the track!

Princess Vija: I hope your feet feel better today! One good thing about my new job is that it's a desk job so hopefully my plantar fasciitis will have a change to heal a bit. My former job was half desk work and half filing and walking through the offices. It was good exercise, but bad on my feet.

goldcupmom: Congrats on eating healthy at the zoo! Way to go!!!! :woohoo:  :cheer2:

ohMom: I LOVE Mexican food but I like the items that are loaded with cheese and fat! LOL I have gone out for Mexican while losing weight and what I order is the chicken fajitas, but I tell them to not bring me the tortillas. I just eat the chicken, peppers, onions, salsa, etc with a knife and fork :)

Sorry if I missed anyone, but I have to get to work now! Have a great day all!!!! :grouphug:

Good Monday Morning Everyone!:surfweb:

I know I am relatively new here, but I just wanted to say how encouraged I am by reading everyone's posts. It really does help to read about everyone's struggles and accomplishments. It is nice to know that I am not on this journey alone!:grouphug:

DivaDeb: I am so glad to hear your DD is home and doing well. Please know I am praying for you and your family.

SeaSpray: Yeah! How awesome about your new job! Congrats!

VernRDH: Wow! 5K in under 40!!! YOU:rockband: !!!!

Princess: I am sorry to hear about your feet hurting. I have had that issue before. I know how bad it hurts! :flower3:

LaLarro78: I am so sorry to hear the news about your precious furbaby. I know decisions like this can be so hard. Animals are such an important part of our lives.

Melanie: I am a Nascar fan too! Way to go making good eating choices at the track. That is really hard to do. I agree about the smoking. The only smoke I want to see is Tony Stewart!:drive: :lovestruc

I also have a question about the dreaded scale......
Has anyone ever had big inconsistancies with their scale? I weigh first thing in the morning. I do nothing but walk into the kitchen to start the oven.....then walk back to the scale and weigh again.....and it can be up a pound and a 1/2 in a matter of 30 seconds!!!! What is that????

I know you want to ask why am I weighing again....I confess to be a bit scale obsessed.....I can't remember who wrote about their husband putting it in the trunk of the car, but I feel real close to having to do that.

I hope everyone has a great day. I am off to drink my water.....(and tinkle all day!!!!);)

Another week begins......

La Laroo - sorry about your fur baby, it's SO hard to make those decisions!!

DisMomTwins - Wow! I thougth my scale was the only one that did that. It's SO frustrating!!

SeaSpray - glad you're feeling better. Tummy woes are NO fun!!

Princess - the TOT (tower of terror 13K) next month at WDW. DD15 & I registered, but between her being sick &her bad knees & my stress eating & gaining weight I wasn't sure we would be able to make the 8 miles. Yesterday at least gives me hope.

This will be a busier than usual week for me.....The normal Ebay, hauling DD15, house, etc, and then I'm having a Garage Sale on Fri/Sat and I leave for FL w/ DD in under 2 weeks!!!

Off to start on the day!

Stay strong everyone!! Don't forget that WI is tomorrow. Must do REALLY GOOD!!!

LaLaroo - that is so hard, and such a horrible decision to make. My thoughts are with you...

Good Monday morning Blue team!!!

I didn't do as well last week. My knees were bothering me a bit. I only went to the gym twice last week. I am also one that gets gung-ho for a couple of weeks and then struggles. Though this year has been different, usually when I struggle I just give up. This year I struggle and then get back to it. I have lost about 60lbs since last September. There are days where I wonder if I will be able to get back on track, but then I snap back and get back on the treadmill:goodvibes

I went and stayed Friday and Saturday near Disneyland. I only live about 30 minutes away, but I still love to stay there. Next month we are going to stay and the Grand Californian. I tried to eat somewhat on track and though I am sure I went over calories I didn't do too bad. Hopefully all the walking made up to the extra calories.

Have a great day everyone!!

LaLaroo78 , so sorry you are going through this with your furbaby. I am sending you hugs and support!

goldcupmom, Hey, we are going to be at WDW during that time! We are going to MGM the day of the race, and I imagine it is going to be crowded, but that's how it worked out for us. I hope you can do the race because it is a goal of yours. If you do, We'll be cheering you on.... of course we will be asleep when you do it, but I'll be Disney Dreaming for you!:wizard:

You need a better scale. I think Tanita is a fantastic scale. Mine is always acurate and off no more than .2 if I get back on (and that only happens because you may be 154.5 and the scale goes between 154.4 & 154.6 because it's between the two).

I hope this helps. I've had my Tanita for a few years and it's always accurate within .2!!

hey everyone, i feel like I'm MIA -- still working on fall chores! just got a groove on and i'm trying to keep it going. bad thing is i was tooooo tired and didn't exercise either this morning! i did Sunday so i'm still on track for the week, but gotta keep on it

vija -- glad you liked my saying! you flatter me!

((HUGS)) and :tinker: to everyone who seems to be struggling with not feeling well or injured parts!

it's sooo inspiring to know that everyone here is be so faithful and mindful about what we are fueling our bods with. i know we ( and i say that and mean ME) are not always 100% perfect and sometimes the chocolate or the dining out or whatever put hurdles in our path, but we are perservering!! YEA BLUE!!

here's to moving into week 4!!

Hey everyone,

I didn't get a chance to check in this morning. I got up and walked 2.34 miles this morning - YEAH! First time since I started not feeling well about 2 weeks ago. So at least I broke that cycle.

I started having this urge to eat these stupid M&M's on my desk. I am supposed to bring them home to my kids and I am hungry and thought about eating them. I decided to come here instead.

I promise I won't eat them!! DH is making "Turkey Dinner", sort of like Thanksgiving. I'm so excited for that. I don't want to spoil my dinner or the fact that I have been so good (although my scale isn't showing it).
