Just a couple of queries.

Off to Australia soon - see countdown
Airline food - as we're flying for about 24 + hours - leaving 22.50 on Wed 28 May and arriving 06.00 31st, it's not really feasible for me to bring too much food with me - Should I ask for the diabetic selection? Airline food is already gross enough, will this be worse?

Also SARS!! We're changing in Singapore and are in the airport for about 4 hours so do you think I would be over reacting if I brought face masks for me and Zachy to use - not so much for me , but kids are more vulnerable to this and he won't wear one if I don't. or do you think I'd just look stupid??

TIA

YIKES, SARS is scary. I don't know if wearing a mask will help or not. You will be in a closed environment for a long time with people who may or may not be carrying this virus. I hope you avoid it completely. Good luck {{{HUGS}}} for you.

You could take some of your carbolite bars and I would weigh up some nuts and seeds to take along, too. How about taking some individually packaged sausages and low carbohydrate bars. That way if the food is too nasty you will have something "safe" on hand to eat.

I would hate to see yucky airline food knock you out of ketosis. If that is going to happen it should be caused by something really delicious, don't you agree?

I want to see Australia so badly. If I couldn't be a Texan, I would want to be an Australian.

Good luck with this. I'm proud of you for thinking ahead.

Unfortunately the carbolite bars from over here give me the dreaded side effect (loo rushing) so I have to stay away from them!

I am soo looking forward to this break - that's why I'm staying on induction till we go so I can have so leeway when I'm over there. I'm going to Port Douglas for 8 days.
Port Douglas
and some of the menus in the restaurants look soo yummy that I'm willing to add a few pounds on - after all holidays are for relaxing!! I'll just avoid the bread basket and have veggies instead of fries, rice or pasta.

Thing is I always have to pack loads of munchies for Zach as he is such a fussy eater and won't touch airline food at all - apart from the bread roll - he can have mine!

I'll have to take an insulated pack with some cheese, celery and jerky.

Australia..........wow! sounds absolutely wonderful. I would bring a face mask for your layover in Singapore. Do you have to get off the plane? Maybe you could just stay close to the gate, not use the restrooms and keep some anti-bacterial wash with you. Just try not to wander around the airport would be my best advice.

As for snacks, I'd pack my own for the flight. As Katholyn said, you don't want airline food knocking you out of Ketosis, you rather something wonderful doing that to you.

Have a wonderful holiday and I'd love to hear all about it when you return.

Just wanted to say good luck! I think the masks are a good idea, but hopefully the SARS is contained enough and it won't be something you have to be too concerned about in the airport. You have to do what you think is best, so if wearing the mask will comfort you, then I say go for it. No need to start a beautiful vacation with loads of stress! :)

Have you called the airline to see what type of special meals they might offer? I know that with enough advance notice they are able to accommodate most dietary needs. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to pack some of your own, too, though, just in case.

I wouldn't think twice about wearing masks! There are some things that just aren't worth the risk, and unless they have a MUCH better handle on SARS when you travel, I'd go for the masks!

Have a wonderful trip -- it sounds fantastic!
