For those of you that have eaten there, have you ever taken your kids?
We are planning our anniversary dinner there that is in two weeks, already have reservations. My concern is that our kids love to go out to nice restaurants to celebrate with us. We are trying to do this as a couple only night but in case the kids really want to come can they get any food from downstairs at Chefs de France if nothing on this menu appeals to them?

Also what is your favorite entree that you have had?

There is no childrens menu, and as far as I know, they will not bring food from Chef's upstairs. Additionally this is a very small restaurant and you will possibly not be able to be accomodated for a larger party at the alst minute.

Anne

Thanks Ann
We aren't looking for kids menus just offers from downstairs just in case. They will eat escargot so I know that is on the menu and they will get that as an appetizer.

I do have it booked for 4 just in case and will have concierge change it to two if they decide they do not want to join us.

I don't know this for a fact, but i'm prety sure that the staff at Bistro de Paris would be happy to make up something for your kids if there's nothing on the menu they fancy.

I'd have thought that if they eat snails they will be ok though. It's fantastic that your kids are such adventurous eaters :sunny:

They are funny sometimes as they eat things that some kids wouldn't think of touching but other times they are in the mood for simple foods so I wanted to have an option. One of my kids is more adventurous then the other but they will both eat escargot, calamari and some other foods. One of mine loves octopus salad made the italian way with garlic lemon and oil. I guess it comes from us having this type of food around since they were very little and I grew up eating that way to

You kids may like good food/restaurants..but can they sit still and quiet
for 2-3 hours. Le Bistro is very small, romantic restaurant. I have only seen a child there once..and that girl had perfect behavior...she didn't move for over 2 hours.

If you are staying concierge somewhere you can obviously afford a sitter for one night. Get an in room sitter, the children have to learn that you will be doing things without them.

I know it is popular to tell parents not to take their kids to the more expensive resturants at Disney, but no one knows your children like you. I saw a little boy (about 4 I'd say) at Bistro when I went. He did not sit still and not move for two hours, that is unrealistic. However, I only noticed like I would notice any other person in the resturant. He did lay down accross the chairs (or booth, I can't remember which they were seated at) a couple of times. He didn't whine or make loud noises. He was a normal child who didn't bother anyone. If he had been running around the room, or yelling loudly, or crying, I would say he didn't belong there, but he wasn't. I think if your children are not have fits, or behaving inappropriately, then take them if they want to go.

As for your being able to afford a babysitter, I think that is an inappropriate comment. I think its great when parents and children want to spend time together and consider each others feelings. Children don't have to learn that parents will do things without them, unless thats what the parent chooses to do.

That's a rude comment to make.

Anyways, I was wondering. What is the dress code at this place? I mean, can I just wear some shorts, polo shirt, sneakers? I never understood any dress code when you are at a theme park. ;)

My kids are very well behaved in restaurants or I wouldn't even have thought to take them, they aren't little where they wouldn't understand the concept of behaviour. As a matter of fact we are going to a local restaurant this weekend that requires all males to wear a jacket and tie, no matter the age, we have taken them there quite a few times and they have always done very well. We do enjoy going out to eat alone and most likely this will be the case here but I just wanted to be informed in case that changed and they did join us.

As a matter of fact I can take my daughter to V&A's if we wanted to and she would happily sit through the 3 -4 hour dinner, taste everything put in front of her and enjoy it.

We do often have nights out alone at home and even at Disney and our children do understand that some things are adult only. Since my husband and I both work we enjoy the time we spend with out kids

I understand that people are concerned about proper behaviour in certain restaurants but come on, if they weren't well behaved we would have picked a different restaurant choice

Can we afford concierge? Not at full price but with discounts and saving for it we are splurging on this vacation

Some restaurants are more upscale then others so they would like to dress appropriately. Menaning no tank tops, cut off shorts, etc. They would like you to look neat and clean

The staff at Bistro de Paris are French. The French love children, and in France children are taken to restaurants on a regular basis.

They don't have to behave perfectly, after all they are children, and as long as they don't act in a way that upsets other diners there would be no problem whatsoever.

The only restaurant I would ever suggest not bringing children would be V&A (unless they were perfectly behaved, then why not)

We've done the babysitting and although the Mousketeer's and all of the other places are wonderful, they are very empty of children which can make it pretty boring. There is a ton of toys, video games and crafts. They are also $10/per child/per hour minimum 4 hours (I think) but it would be hard to drop them off, get where you are going and be back in a shorter time anyway.

That is extremely expensive if you have 3 kids and I only do it when I must such as V&A and if we're going with friends to PI.

I would bet that Bistro would have something for children even if it isn't on the menu.
