Bistro De Paris.....our "just desserts" review

OK, I'll be the one to say it....CHEESE?!?!? We don't need no stinkin' cheese, this is DESSERT! They should have started with PROPER dessert. Only the French would think of this as something that belongs on the dessert menu :)

OK, I have now outed myself as not quite up to the most cosmopolitan of menus. I just never did get the whole cheese as dessert thing. I like cheese, but when I want dessert, I want dessert, not hors d'oeuvres.

I agree. I like cheese between meals, before meals on a sandwich... But when I want desert I don't want a piece of bread and cheese. I want sugar and chocolate and all that "not for dinner" stuff.

Okay not a dessert that I would of choosen but hey. Bring on the good desserts!!!!

Ya know, DH and I had our first date on Good Friday (Bad Catholics!)- of course I think we did the "Just Alcohols" that night :)

Can't wait to see the yummies!

Hot dang! Dessert! I have been waiting for this one, gentlemen!!

le stupide garcon.

froid fromage. :headache:

(here's hoping dessert got better.....)

I think that cheese plate, if served at the correct temperature and a glass of wine would make a great dessert :goodvibes

Man can not live on bread (and cheese) alone. Come on, Mister Disney! Bring on the true desserts!

I don't think Benedict will be throwing us out for this one. We stayed within the letter of the law, not eating meat on Good Friday!

So.....moving on....

Our garcon....dropped the desserts in front of us and "moved on" :confused3

Trilogie de gourmandises
bistrodeparis032108-012.jpg

Crème brûlée à la vanille, riz au lait caramélisé et Crème Caramel renversée, glace crème brûlée

Vanilla creme brulee, caramelized rice pudding and upside down caramel creme, creme brulee ice cream.

The vanilla creme brulee (top left) was nice....smooth creamy....the caramelized sugar on top was burnt to perfection.

Caramelized rice pudding (bottom left).....one word....EXCELLENT!

Upside down caramel creme (top right) ....I thought I would be eating a "flan" style offering, which it was the egg custard was perfectly cooked, but the sauce was BITTER :rolleyes1

Creme brulee ice cream, very plain, and there was ice crystals in the ice cream. When we see ice crystals in ice cream we think it is "freezer burned" and throw it out!:scared:

ANOTHER COLD PLATE ?!?!?!

Oh, I forgot this was supposed to be cold :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ... but not so cold that the ice cream is RUINED! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: It being Good Friday, and knowing that it's a SIN to waste DESSERT, I offered it up and ATE IT! :rotfl:

oy - ice crystals in the ice cream???

this isn't going very well.....

I do the same thing. I've wasted many "freezer burned" ends of pints of ice cream. Oh well, I don't need the calories from it anyway.

Is that it?:confused3 I haven't been to Bistro for quite a while now, but I remember wonderful souffles (I had the chocolate :cloud9: ) the last time I was there, as well as some other very tempting desserts. I loved your idea of just trying all the desserts here, but if that's all there is now, I don't think it would be worth it to me.
