Call me a cranky crohn if you want, but I see no reason to take small children to a restaurant like Bistro. If they can actually sit through a 2+ hour meal in an upscale, French restaurant then good-o, but the children who were there on our evening were obviously bored. At one point as a larger group was getting ready to leave the kids were running around their table. That's not acceptable behavior anywhere, but especially not in a place like Bistro - it's disrespectful to the restaurant staff and the other guests.
I don't think you're being cranky at all.
We always liked the thought of there being *one* restaurant in Epcot that was geared more towards an adults only crowd. Much like on the Disney cruise ships it's important to have one small area that deals with only older folks.
Goodness knows the rest of the park/ship is perfect for kids, why not have that one small sanctuary ?
But, Disney being Disney I guess they saw a profit potential that was untapped and started offering a child's menu at Bistro. This is a shame.
Again, I love children, but so many parents out there seem to think nothing of letting their kids run screaming around any restaurant and any table they please. It's not the kids fault.
It *does* seem disrespectful to me as well. For the guests at Bistro and the waitstaff , too.
