I'm headed to Disney in less then 40 days :earsboy: and will be there over my 17th birthday.

Any stories of birthdays spent in WDW?

Although just being in Disney World is going to be amazing I would love suggestions of what to do and where to eat for a birthday.

ThankYou!

I was there this past september for my 21st and my neices 3rd birthday! i made shirts for us to wear and she got such special attention and very many happy birthday wishes...at the TS restaraunts she recieved cake and "pixie dust" ...and we even received 2 or 3 re-rides !

Birthdays at the kingdom are magical!

also..in the MK you can go to the Guest relations center and tell them its your birthday for a nice souveneir button..

PUSH (the talking trashcan in Tomorrowland) sang happy birthday to me when he saw my birthday button.

I also got birthday cards and balloons from both Mickey and Minnie (we stayed at two different hotels during the trip, and both knew it was for my birthday celebration).

My son spent his 5th birthday at MK. We got him the special button and a lot people wished him Happy Birthday.

Of course, he tends to be a little clueless and kept asking "how do they know it's my birthday?"!! That was probably the best part for us--laughed our heads off each time (yes, he asked more then once, told you he's clueless!)

By the end of the day, he kept proudly displaying his button so everyone could see. It was definitely fun and memorable.

we are going to be there for my sons 6th birthday in two weeks..and him and his sister have no idea we are going !!!....we arent going to tell them till we get to the airport...

I will be celebrating my birthday at MK on Friday!!! I can't wait, but can't tell you how old I am going to be!!! :scared1:

I spent my 17th birthday there last year, had a great time... We had dinner in Le Cellier at Canada in Epcot. As always, food was fantastic. My mom told them it was my birthday, and they brought this awesome dessert (I have no clue what it's called, but it's like chocolate mousse with a solid milk chocolate "bowl" around it) with candles and had written on the plate "happy birthday" and everything. They also gave me a card signed by all of the waiters and waitresses. Canada is a great place to have a birthday, the waiters and staff are all really cool and make it a fun evening.

I celebrated my 16th at Concourse Steakhouse in Contemporary. That's a good place too; that time my mom had ordered a special cake that was personalized and everthing, which was cool.

Cheers,
MG

Do any of the other parks have "birthday buttons" or anything? Or is it just MK?

Thanks!

Well two years ago we were able to celebratemy DH's birthday inside MK. I made sure to stop and pick up a button while he made a bathroom stop. I surprised him in fron of our early morning KTTK tour group ;) I love embarrassing that man! Not only did he receive special attention from our group leader and the CMs, but it was all done in front of our group too! So it was fun for him (even if he won't admit it). Hmmm...I wonder why we never go around his birthday any more :rotfl: . I also had him wear his birthday button to dinner a the Cali Grill. Our waitress was extra super (yes, I used the word super! lol), and brought him out a dessert while we were out watching the fireworks over MK.

Now, THIS year it is my turn and I cannot wait! Next month I will be there for my birthday. I plan on picking up a button from AK since that is where I wanted to spend my b-day (I love animals and really enjoy this park). :cake:

Sorry I just read this, otherwise I would have answered in my previous post.

Yes, to my understanding, each park gives out their own special birthday button. Hmmm....I wonder if that includes waterparks? What about DisneyQuest?

I believe they are available at all 4 themeparks and at guest services at DTD only.

HTH!!! :teeth:

I just celebrated my 40th birthday at WDW in December. I went to the MK on my birthday and had lunch in the castle. I received a Magical Moments certificate that was signed by all the princesses there. Our server brought me a small cake (cupcake size) with a candle and sang "Happy Birthday" to me. I loved all of the attention and being called "Princess Karen". I wore the birthday button and received many birthday wishes from guests and CM's. It was a very special birthday!

Birthday Trip Report:

Well I took my girlfriend up to Disney for a birthday bash weekend... Drove up late Thursday night (late really late -- we arrived there at 2am)... wake up call was 7am and we were up and at Animal Kingdom at 9am sharp.

As I was walking in -- I asked an attendant about a birthday pin for my gf and she had a couple in her pocket and forked one over. We attached on my gf and that's where all the fun began! EVERYWHERE we went.. it was "Happy Birthday" this.... "do I smell I cake".... on the Safari ride... the rider made an announcement for everywhere to scream out Happy Birthday...etc etc...

On the train ride to the conservatory -- the Cast Member at the train station had everyone sing happy b-day to her... it was very very funny.
During the parade a coupel of the characters came over and point at her pin and hugged her. (I guess since they can't talk its the closes you'll ever get).

That night I had booked a wishes cruise (premium package) to see the fireworks out of the contemporary. Worth every penny! Our driver was excellent... (I'll have pictures on later) -- but the boat was decorated with a banner and some ballons... the disney bakery had the cake i ordered delivered straight to the boat... (it was the best cake i have ever had!!!! get it!)....

We took a tour of the lake and 7 seas lagoon along with a couple historical tidbits... that were great to know. We saw the water parade that floats past the grand floridian and polynesian.... then positioned ourselves in front of the magic kingdom... cut the cake, the boat provided chips and soda... and we had a mini party until the fireworks started. It was interesting to see the fireworks set back a bit... you can see a greater overall picture... the boat provided an audio feed of the music so it was perfect!

Day 2 -- MGM

We got the pin again at the entrance -- and we received plenty more of the birthday wishes and singing... etc....so i'll skip to the end...

we went to fantasia... and the cast member had her stand up in front of the entire section (we were in row 1) and sing her happy birthday. it was sooooo funny!

during the fantasia show -- steamboat mickey comes out with all the characters onboards and a couple noticed the pin and from the boat shouted happy birthday to her...

We had dinner at Whispering Canyon enough said about that! lol awesome!

If you have any questions just let me know!

last year we went to celebrate our kids birthdays in April, (3 girls and 1 son) every park had a pin at guest services, and they wore them everyday everywhere. They received all kinds of attention from CM's and other guests. One DD received $10 from another guests while in line for the TIKI room. They also received cards signed by the characters at different restaurants we ate at. I also had bought some cards and took them with us for characters to sign as i didn't know they would have some already. It is definitely fun and magical to celebrate your birthday in WDW.

We celebrated my youngest DD's 7th birthday this past November. She got a button at each park, although if I remember correctly the one at MGM was the same as the MK one. She had a blast from all the attention. In the MK we had breakfast in the Castle and the waiter had the other 2 tables nearby sing Happy Birthday to her. Our table was decorated with Mickey confetti and she had a special certificate signed by the princesses. She also got a special birthday cupcake that she said was soooo yummy. Good thing because she ate none of the breakfast they brought out!!??!! She got to drive the Jungle Cruise boat one of the times we rode it and she really thought she was controlling it. So many people wished her a Happy Birthday at all the parks.
At MGM, the CM for The Great Movie Ride took us in a side door to bypass the lines since they were long. She had just fallen outside and was crying and he said he had a special birthday present for her. He ended up giving her a trading pin- she was so happy with that. He also drove our car that we rode in and had the people sing her Happy Birthday.
We celebrated her birhday with a dinner at Chef Mickeys (it was also her Dads 40th birthday- they have them 2 days apart) and they each got a signed placemat and a special birthday cupcake there.
Get the buttons and have a great time celebrating your day!!
