We are going to Disney in July which will be our our first trip with the kids! My husband will be turning 40 on the trip and my daughter will turn 5 on the trip. I want to do something special for each of them but I don't know what. On the day of my husbands B-day will be in MGM and will be in MK for my daughter's birthday. I figure the Cinderella breakfast would be nice for her but that's all I can think of.

Any ideas?

One thing I've done for my DD's birthdays when we've been there (twice, so far) is I've brought character birthday cards with me to the parks and I've had the appropriate characters sign them for her. Then, when we celebrated her birthday in our room, the cards were waiting for her. The princesses cards were the easiest to find. I've managed to have them signed, without her knowledge, thanks to some help from the characters themselves. If there are others in the room (Mickey's Toontown, restaurants, etc.) they help to distract her.

Also, make sure you get the Birthday Buttons at the parks (from guest services). CM will wish them :bday: all day long. As an added bonus, my DD received free desserts when she was wearing her button :goodvibes .

Also, several times when my DD was wearing her button, she got a special phone call from Goofy wishing her a happy birthday. This happened both times at the Epcot, Guest Relations when we pick up the button. The CM says something like, "... what's your name. Oh, we had a call earlier here for you," and then they hand them the phone. My DD got a big kick out of this when she was 5 and 6. She also got the call from Goofy in Mouse Gears (Epcot) and also in the lobby of Hollywood Brown Derby, at MGM.

Each time we've gone for her birthday I've mentioned it when I made our room ressies, but the only thing she received was a "Magical Moments" certificate at one stay. Some posters report getting balloons, or signed picture in their rooms, but this hasn't happened to us.

Also, if you are going to be eating at table service restaurant, on their birthdays, mention it when you make your ADRs, and you might receive something special. If you want to make sure of getting something special, call the restaurant direct and make a request. You can get birthday cakes ($) at some restaurants, but my DD was very excited just to get some Mickey confetti on our table at CG last year, along with the whole restaurant singing :bday: to her! :cloud9:

Hope this helps, have a great time, and :bday: to your DD and DH!

I received balloons and a b-day card from Cinderella in my room for my birthday. My dad received a fruit basket in the room. But I believe that is because we are DVC members.

We had breakfast at Donald's in AK the morning of my dad's. We told the server that it was his birthday. About half way through the meal they called him and a small child also there for a b-day up to the middle of the room. They had everyone sing happy birthday and gave him a card.

My friend gave her husband the driving experience for his b-day in Disney because he is big into race cars. The family is able to watch as someone goes around the track in a race car. They said it was terrific.

As the pp stated, get those buttons when you check-in and at guest relations at each park and tell them when you call for ADR.

:cake:
You can also order a special cake to be delieved at a meal at specific dining places. Call 407-727-2253. They need 48 hours notice. I know you can get a cake at the Sci-Fi in MGM for your husband. We love to eat there. That might be the special touch you were looking for!!

Our experience at LLT was my mom got a cupcake and a card from the characters and they announced her birthday to the whole restaurant who sang. Also later that week we went to Cinderella's Gala Feast at 1900 Park Faire and received a birthday placemat, crown and special cupcake dessert. The birthday was noted when we made our reservations for the restaurants and she had the B-day pin on.

Wow, thanks for the great ideas! I definately will get the b-day pins, my husband is gonna get one too! I should buy him a 40th birthday shirt for him to wear that day!! I'll search around the interent for that. I will call the Wilderness Lodge and ask how to set up some things with them, like balloons and maybe a phone call from Cinderella. I will call the ADR # and mention it to them etc....Now you've got my brain working!! Thanks!!!!!

I always order a special cake when my kids celebrate a birthday in Disney. We'be done the mini-wedding cake, the white chocolate slipper, a chocolate MickeyHead cake (my favorite) and this year we're doing a "Nemo" themed cake at Coral Reef. We're also doing the banner and personalized menu for the son at CR too.

My DD turned 5 during our trip in January. She had a wonferful time! Feel free to read my trip report, below, for ideas. On her actual bday, we had lunch at CRT, did the BBB, and then had dinner at 1900 Park Fare with Cinderella. I pre-ordered a cake for dinner, and the whole restaurant sang to her. She was also given a placemat signed by all of the characters and a birthday girl tiara. Make sure to note the bday in your ADR. I also told the front desk at POFQ about her bday. We came back to our room to find a card and balloon from Sleeping Beauty. Oh, and while we were at CRT (and later at the Norway Princess breakfast) DH got all of the princesses to sign a Princess birthday card that I brought from home.

Gymboree makes a "birthday girl" tee shirt that DD wore that day in addition to her WDW birthday pin.

Okay, this is not for everyone, but Disney has those hats that are a birthday cake with the candles on it! We made DH wear it one year when we were at Disney for his bday-thankfully he is a very good sport. It is definitely an attention grabber! :rotfl:

My littlest turns 2 two days before we arrive. Can I still order a cake and celebrate his birthday there or does Disney frown on late birthdays?

My son turns one on our trip in july! July 13th! so we are hoping disney will make a big scene for him everywhere he goes. I know he will not remember but the pictures and the scrapbook will show him when he is older! We can not wait~ 19days till we leave!!
