We are going to be at Disney for my DS's 10th birthday. It was suggested that we pick up a birthday pin at MK, which we will do but what does that mean for DS? What do they do special for his birthday if he is wearing a birthday pin?

We scheduled a character dinner at Chef's Mickey's and were told we can call 48 hrs prior to our PS and arrange for a birthday cake.

Any other suggestion for his birthday day at Disney??

Thanks!

I noted my dh's birthday on our reservation at CBR and when we got our room after check in there was a happy birthday balloon and a card signed by Mickey. When we honeymooned in May at CSR, there was a congratulations balloon in the room with a card from Mickey and Minnie. If you note in on your ressie, there is a good chance they will do something like that.

A birthday pin won't get you anything special other than a lot of Happy Birthday's from people!! My dd turned 6 at WDW and we ate at Crystal Palace. They knew ahead of time (I told them when I booked it long before) and they had a card signed by all the characters there and a birthday cupcake with a candle. It was really cute and she was thrilled. I am celebrating my 55th there in 3 weeks. I'm not expecting anything other than a nice meal someplace. I may get a pin but since my birthday is actually next week I'm not sure that would be kosher!! But that's where I wanted to celebrate.

I have been spending my birthday at Disney for the past 2 years and this will be the 3rd. I dutifully get my pin and a character meal (or 2) and absoutely enjoy the attention. I do not expect anything, but I get lots of birthday wishes by CM's and that's pretty much all I need.... Two years ago we stayed at AKL concierge and they sent me a cake and a bottle of wine... talk about classy! At the WL last year I got a nice card. It's all about expectations.... If you expect a lot and do not get it, then you will be disappointed. This year we'll be staying at POFQ, and again, I do not expect much... If something happens, great, if not, I'm still in Disney enjoying by birthday vacation.

Let the hotel know in advance about your DS birthday. They might do something special. Make a PS at a character meal; the characters usually will make him feel very special. Arrange to send him a present to the room in advance. There are lots of ways to make him feel special. Getting him the pin can't hurt and might just make his day. You never know!

If you go to LTT for lunch, you can get a nice cake there, too. You can order it when you check in at the desk for your seat.

You can also get an AK, Epcot and DS birthday button from guest services at each of these places.

I wore them all when it was my birthday. Plus you can buy the birthday cake hat with the light up candles on it. I think it was about $20. Most of the larger stores have it.

I got lots of "Happy Birthday" from various guests (I make it a point to tell other HB when I am there, too). I got a free drink from a CM in MK when he saw it was my birthday.

They might make a big deal about it a Disney Studios at 50's Prime Time (just guessing). At 1900 Park Faire, my son got a special birthday place mat that he brought home with him.

If you want something special for your son's birthday arrange and pay for it yourself. Many people have posted here about mentioning the occasion on their reservation and not getting anything. Lots of people head to WDW for their special occasion so doing something special for everyone is hard.

The birthday button is available in all the parks not just MK. He may be wished a Happy Birthday by a CM, have a magical moment on a ride, be given a special phone call from Goofy for his birthday.

I spent my birthday last June in WDW . I wore my birthday pin, and got lots of birthday wishes from CMs. I also got serenaded while we were riding Space Mountain- it was very cool:D . We'll be there next July to celebrate my youngest becoming a teen:eek: Just being there on her birthday is special enough:D

I took my nephew to Disney for his 7th birthday this past June.
I had t-shirts made for the whole family that said Happy Birthday! and had a photo of his head wearing Mickey ears. His shirt had the same photo and said Today is my Birthday! The back of the shirts had a collage of family portraits that whole family drew.

My nephew got lots of Happy Birthdays from other guests and CMs. It was Star Wars weekend and while we waited for the Jedi training to start some of the characters sang Happy Birthday and chatted with him. At the candy store he got a free chocolate covered marshmellow and at Magic Kingdom he got a free Mickey Ice Cream at Tomorrowland.

The day was full of little magic moments because characters would notice his shirt and point it out and the ones that talk would say Happy Birthday. Most of them wrote Happy Birthday in his autograph book too. He felt really special!

:bday: I just mad reservations for Christmas a few nights ago and mentioned it will be my DS 15th b-day. The CM who made my ressies asked who his favorite character was and a back-up character but wouldn't tell me why, just said it would be a suprised. Then when the guy noticed that I would have a second child with me he took his information and favorite characters too!:Pinkbounc Then he ordered a DVD to be sent to my son right before the trip to get him excited about going to WDW. I found that if you just let the CM making your ressies know that it is a b-day most will plan something special. Two years ago we went without telling anyone at Disney it was my DS birthday and made it special by allowing him to pick what park we went to on his birthday and then letting him pick the resturant where we had dinner. Suprisingly enough he chose CRT and when Cinderella was told it was his birthday she wrote him a special note and gave him a glass mug from the resturant:cake: Most of the time if you make it a point to let CM know they will go the extra mile for your child.:mickeybar

Most sit-down eateries have them, especially if you give them a day or so notice. I know i have heard people getting them at places like Liberty Tree at the MK, 50's Prime Time at MGM, and I'm sure any of the sit-downs in World Showcase would have them. I've never heard of anyone getting one at the Rainforrest Cafe, but I assume they must (which would be a good idea since you can eat there without paying park admission). Best thing to do is find where you want to eat, and ask when you call to make your PS.

Hope your DH has a happy bday!
