Ok, so we are going for our very 1st trip this June. We have three DS (9, 2, and our 4yr old who will turn 5 during our stay). I was thinking we wouldn't do a party this year, because he will get the birthday button, gift card, and a special day at disney, Now I am feeling guilty he will not have a day with his friends. After all, my other two had a party this year and they are going to disney too. Anyone else ever have this problem?? Please help. thanks, Kim

I understand what you are saying and I would feel guilty as well. I only have 2 children DD5 and DS2. Both there bdays are in Aug. We went when my DD turned 4. The second day we were there was her bday. She had a blast with all the happy bdays you get from people. We never really have big friend bdays and are family is pretty much all over so bday parties are slim around here. Now, this year she does want a friends bday party but we will be going to Disney again in Aug for both DD and DS bdays. I fell bad not giving her the party that she wants but this Disney trip is very expensive. I, like you, feel guilty and I am not sure what we are going to do. For your son maybe you could ask him how he feels about not having the whole friend bday party............that is if he knows you are going to Disney. If it is a surprise I am not so sure what to tell you. I know he will have a blast in Disney on his bday. Good Luck in your situation. Sorry I could not be of more help.

We're doing the same thing but it will be for her 5th birthday in Feb. My dd will get a small celebration in her classroom in addition to the one in Disney, plus when were at the parks that day will be more about her than my other 2. The meals will be princess character dining (the boys will love that ;) ) and she'll get to pick something extra special out at one of the shops.

We've started to scale back the older kids birthdays anyhow (this year they will be 6 & 8) so next year theirs will probably be something special with a handful of friends and we'll consider it even.

My DS turned 4 on our last trip and LOVED it! This is your DS 1st trip AND on his b-day?? That is soooo super! Just let everyone at WDW know that it is his b-day and it will beat a friend party hands down. Every reservation and every CM needs to know its his b-day and they will play it up. That button works great and I really encourage you to get it early and let him wear it the whole trip. My son got so much attention and so many smiles. And now they have the "what will you celebrate" thing that you can register for and he'll get some "extra's". I can't remember what they are but you can find out the substitutes for free entry on the web.

Don't guilt yourself into a party. YOU are a great parent- you are taking him to WDW for his birthday!:wizard:

Thank you guys so much! I guess I needed to hear it from someone else. Your right he will get alot of attention and that will beat anything I could do at home!
