Sunday is my birthday and I am so bummed out about it. Saturday morning Hubby has a 9:00 am flight out to Santa Barbara for two weeks for a chem. conference, so he's missing my birthday.

I do not have made a lot of friends here in MN since I moved up here for Hubby to go to school, thus I really do not have anyone to call up on Sunday to hang out with.

The more I think about Sunday and what I am going to do all day by myself the more depressed I get. I also get depressed thinking about all the well wishes I'll recieve (from friends and family out of state) asking me what I have planned for the day. To which I'll have the depressing answer of "nothing".

I just feel blah about it all and needed to get all of that out to someone.

:bday: :cake: :bday:

Spend the day on the DIS. There are lots of good friends here to cyber-party with.

Or get a new book and read it cover to cover!

Where do you live? Maybe the rest of us Minnesotans can come up with some ideas, like shopping at MOA or something fun.

Honestly, I would LOVE such a day. Here is what I would do - schedule a spa treatment - massage, manicure, pedicure, the works. Go to a movie that I want to see that dh wouldn't. Go to the bookstore and get a cheesy paperback and some mags. Go to my fave restaurant and get take out to bring home to eat while watching tv. buy my fave ice cream. take a bubble bath while reading cheesy paperback and mag. in that order.

Happy Birthday!

Take yourself out to lunch and a movie! :sunny:

I have a friend whose daughter just moved to Toronto. She made a friend on (?)myfriend.com almost immediately. Investigate this type of website and see if you can hook up with a new girlfriend.

And, Happy Birthday.

You have 2 weeeks to come up with new things to do while DH is away. Maybe you could go to live theatre.

RadioFanatic described a day in heaven! Plan a special celebration w/ your husband on Saturday and plan a special day all to yourself on Sunday. Have a great birthday!

I think you should spend the day doing something that you really want to do but that hubby doesn't like doing. Or as someone else said, spend the day at the spa. Just do something for yourself. Don't think of it as being all alone. Think of it as being left alone to do whatever your heart desires without having to worry about anyone but yourself.

I would sleep in, go for my fav lunch, take myself shopping (right now it would have to be window shopping) watch whatever I wanted on Tv or rent a movie I want to see. I might spend hours on the phone with an old friend, just doing whatever I want when I want! Happy Birthday early!!!!!!!

:cheer2: I agree with everyone. Go out and do something you really like to do. I had a birthday that I took off, I work at home, everyone else was busy. I went to the beach which always makes me happy. I had my favorite treats while I was there and shopped at the outlets. On the way home, a woman was riding my bumper through a congested area. As we came into the clear, she sped away. Not 2 miles down the road, she was stopped by a state trooper. What a sense of satisfaction there was, and I said "Happy Birthday to me!! Whatever you do, you should enjoy your day. :cheer2:

OMG!!! This is the absolute perfect day.....I'm going to print this out and clip on my fridge and tell DH this is what I want for my b-day! This is incredible!

theycallmered - don't put too much pressure on yourself. Just enjoy your day!

I would declare Saturday as Birthday Celebration Day :teeth: and celebrate that day however you and hubby want to. Then Sunday, I would follow any of the excellent self-indulgent suggestions other posters have given. When your friends call you, you can tell them about all the exciting things and wonderful presents you did on your Birthday Celebration! :wizard: Think about it, you get twice the mileage out of your birthday that way.

Have a happy day, however you choose to celebrate it!

thanks for all the nice comments - it's a dream of mine that I've had for awhile, if you couldn't tell! ;)

any chance you can fly out and visit him in SB? Its a fabulous city (I grew up there) and fiesta/old spanish days will be going on while he's there (I think this year they are 8/2-6).

Happy Birthday!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Right now the tenative plans are to wake up and watch a butt load of The Food Network in the morning, go and see the Devil Wears Prada while eating a ton of pop corn and drinking a ginormous coke, take out dinner from the Macaroni Grill, and then perhaps another movie or my book at night.

Thanks again everyone for making my birthday seem like less of a sucky day and more of a giant oppertunity to do whatever I want. :sunny:

Have TWO celebrations!!

Celebrate with your DH either before or after his trip. Have a special day together, have him take you to lunch or dinner at the restaurant of your choice.

THEN, you can have a celebration of your OWN on your birthday and do things YOU enjoy doing.

In my book, two celebrations are better than one!!

HAVE A HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! :grouphug: :bday:
