birthday trip report...now finished!

LOL, I feel like a traitor hoping the line is down the ramp. :)

Augh, I gotta get out to the stores! And bank. Must swap money over to Chase so I can either use the ATMs or the silly rewards debit card we have for this year. And get tshirt transfer paper and maybe some self-laminate stuff. And maybe a tshirt.

Oh Molly I am so glad that everyone is better. Good luck on those llong lines for SM.:goodvibes

Banking done.
Bought light and dark tshirt transfers.
Bought a few cheap tshirts.
Bought...some more glow sticks. :rolleyes1
Bought a black, cheap, little tote bag to put a Jack transfer on so I can be sort of matchy with the guys.

Now E and I would like a nap. OK, he'd never admit that, but I can tell.

Printed "golden ticket" for b'day.
Printed coupons for various offsite seatac parking lots.
Prepacking started.
Have another spot for various organizational items.
Wondering if we could get away with glowsticks in the carryons....

I've gotten sick WAY too many times the last few years. I forget about it in between, but it's starting to really come to my attention how often I get sick.

This is no good. Gotta figure this out.

I wasn't getting sick a lot - but had some really bad fatigue and issues with sleeping - just couldn't seem to do it well. I have a friend who uses Dr. Christopher's herbs and swears by them. She recommended the Adrenal Formula. It is FAB. I sleep better, deeper, longer and I don't fade in the middle of the afternoon and feel like I need a nap. My energy level is much higher and I feel like I get more stuff done. I actually feel motivated to do something.

This link takes you to the regular Dr. Christopher's site - but I've been somewhere where there was a description of each product and it was in this big long list. I can't find it now - but I'll look around and see if I can find it.

It's nice to hear that E is feeling better and so are you and I can't imagine having to cancel my trip when you are so close - here's hoping you can make it and have a great time.

I would totally take the stroller - I still use our double jogger for our 7 yr old. But I kick him out of it regularly. ;) There is no way our 5 yr old would make it without a stroller.

ETA: found the list I was looking for - here

Okay - tshirt transfers. Use the light transfers on white t-shirts ONLY. Any color that the tshirt is will show through the light transfers. If you have white in your design and you have a colored shirt the white will show up as the sirt color. Light transfers is a misnomer to me. I am pretty sure the picture has to be reversed when you print it.

Use the dark transfers for any shirt other than white. (You can use them for white, too) They turn out looking pretty good. Although I don't like the transfers I got from Michaels. I liked the HP transfers a LOT better. But, you have run out of time for those, I ordered mine from the HP site. I think you can get them at Staples.??? But, I'm not sure.

Don't expect the shirt to last any longer than one trip. The transfers get sort of yucky looking after you wash them. They get sort of cracked and weird looking. But, they are really cool for the trip. Turns out my light transfers on white shirts lasted much longer than my dark transfers on colored shirts.

We had to buy more printer ink. :headache: And of course it was too late to order from the online place I used before for my off label (ha) ink, but we found out that Office Max carries their brand and it's minimally cheaper than the actual HP ink, so off the hubster went.

So I'll be trying that printyprint again!

Have noticed that everything says to NOT use an ironing board, to use a Hard Flat Surface...augh.... I also read that someone took the finish of their coffee table off while doing a transfer; I certainly don't want to destroy the furniture at the Grand! What to do, what to do...could borrow friend's or MIL's iron...but how to explain that? No interest in mentioning yet another disney trip...and they know DARN well that no one here wears clothing that requires ironing unless they are on a job interview. Hmm.

Well, first step is printing the things.

Ugh! The catch-22 that is kids! I bites the dust HOPING for a long line. But at least you'll get to go at all, right? I'm SO glad that everyone is feeling better. I was keeping my fingers crossed. I would have been heart broken for you had you been SO close to going, but then not able.

Wow! I've been researching limo rides. They're expensive. This isn't bad! What company is this through?

It is Harold's Limo service. And that quote was for 4 of us. It is more for more people. Still a great rate though. He is a sole proprietor. Super nice gent, clean car. What more do you need??

Molly,
I used my kitchen table. I put an older flat sheet on it to protect the finish (I folded it a couple of times) and actually ironed the sheet to make sure there were no wrinkles and then ironed the t-shirts and then the transfers on the shirts. It really didn't take as long as I thought it would and turned out to be more fun than I thought. :confused3 I know I put something in between the front and back of the t-shirts, but I can't remember what it was. Parchment paper - that's what it was. Kept any of the colors from the transfers from bleeding through the shirt. The parchment paper stuff that comes with the transfers should work.

Just tell MIL or friend that you are trying some t-shirt transfers to see how they work for E's birthday or New Year's or something. Just don't tell them that you are going to DLR - yet again. :woohoo: Or tell them that E found this really cool picture that he would love to have on a t-shirt and you are figuring out how to do it!

Now why didn't I think of that???? :dance3:

So frustrated. Looks like I lost the opportunity to get the cheapie GAT price on Disneyland Express from the airport. Waited too long! GRR.

So frustrated. Having to change up everything transportation-related, re-hash conversations we've already had... Now suddenly Robert's pro-car rental, instead of just catching the bus without a reservation, b/c he's concerned about it being full. But he's hated the bus idea.

Going crazy.....

And thinking of running to Target for an iron.

Oh! I hate the last minute, pre trip stuff. I never realize how much there is to do, until I have so little time for doing it! I'm sure everything will work out..

P.S. The last time I did an iron on transfer, I put a big peice of cardboard inside the shirt to flatten it out, and ironed it on my kitchen table.

I hope everything works out ok.

I even have a thread on the Transportation forum about one of the car deals we're looking at. That's how nutty I am right now...

Hi! Mine is on Monday. I only get to have the holiday ON my b'day every so many years, and it being the holiday this year, along with the promo, is what pushed me over the edge into this trip. :)

Just found an iron for under 7 bucks. I'm sure it'll be a quality iron. :rotfl:

We share a birthday haha
Happy early b-day:)

Very cool!

When I started college, I bonded with the girl next door b/c of both being the 12th, but she's a year older. We saw Madonna in San Diego last year in honor of her b'day. And what do I do? I go to Disneyland! (actually took a solo trip via Amtrak after the Madonna concert before catching my flight home)

Early Happy Birthday!

It doesn't really need to be a quality iron :lmao: it just needs to heat up enough to iron on the transfers. :thumbsup2 Besides if you aren't going to use it very often - it doesn't really matter!

I hate arranging car transportation or any sort of transportation from the airport. I hate the rental car prices and have NEVER been able to figure out how to get a good rate on Super Shuttle. Every time I go to their website and put in my info I always get a $35 charge for the first person and 10 bucks a person after that! Way more than renting a car would be and so not worth it to be stuck at the hotel.

We have a little wanderlust and never JUST stay at DLR. We always branch out a little, if only for food. LOL If we stay long enough we love to hit the beach. DH and I both miss the beach since we both grew up in No. Cal.

So is the rental car a defininate at this point?

Either way, I sure it will work out.

BTW... I'm rooting for E to make it on HMH this year! :thumbsup2
