9/29-10/3 Birthday trip!

Okay--heres the "pre-trip" details!
This trip was decided on while my friend Jess and I were studying for midterms last April--we were really stressed out and kidding about how we needed a vacation. Well, we decided we were going to leave everything behind and skip a few days of classes and go to Disney for a birthday celebration..
So the trip consisted of me (Jen)...i was celebrating my 21st birthday, which is in 2 weeks..
and Jess (the friend from college) who had just turned 20 the first week of September.

**i will add more pictures as soon as i get them devloped...but i do have my photopass ones ... this should work to get to the pictures--i have the blondish brown hair.

Day 1--Thursday September 29
Well Jess came over on Wednesday night and we made our Halloween shirts that we were planning on wearing to the Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party. On Thursday we were up and ready to leave my house b y 4:30 am...We had a 7:00 flight, but my dad had a 6:30 flight so we had to get there a bit early. it was a good flight, we landed early and headed to Magical Express. It was less than a 5 minute wait for the check in and then another 5 minutes while we waited for our bus. We went right to POP century and checked in, and suprisingly our room was ready!! When we checked in, I got a Magical Moments Certificate for my 21st birthday...very cute! We were put into room 3428 (50s building with the big Tramp dog in front of it)..Our room was awesome with a great view of the EPCOT ball! We put our carry ons in our room and headed straight to Magic Kingdom. We were wearing birthday shirts designed by Kate (julia&nicksmom)..mine said "celebrating in style:Celebrating Jens 21st birthday" with a picture of the castle..Jess' had "walt disney world, where wishes come true, jess' 20th birthday" with a picture of fireworks in the shape of mickey heads...We also had on birthday buttons--we had a blast!!
There were no lines and it seemed like there were no crowds. While we waited for the Magic Kingdom Parade, the barbershop quartet came up and sang happy birthday to us--that was so awesome and unexpected!
After we did the rides and stuff for a few hours, we went to our reservations at the Grand Floridian for 1900 Park Fare with Cinderlla, Prince Charming, and the mice...Now, we know this is usually for kids, but i have always wanted to see prince charming! After we ate our dinner, the prince and our waitress brought over cupcakes with candles and happy birthday princess tiaras...then they sang--very cute! we got pictures with the prince and he wished us a happy birthday..
We then just walked around Grand Floridian and the polynesian and went back to the hotel and slept since we were up so early.

Friday September 30
Today we slept in a bit and just ate breakfast in the room. We went to Animal Kingdom with our "birthday trip" buttons. Our bus driver was Sammy, who i actually had on my last disney trip in may..He apologized for being a new jersey driver and everyone groaned on the bus--except my friend and i who cheered since we are from nj! he was so energetic and was singing the whole time we were driving--a fun ride! We got fastpasses for the safari and went right to see the lion king--I had never seen it before this trip and i was really excited about it. As we walked in, the lady saw our birthday buttons and let us sit in the front row..it was an amazing show! plus one of the performer guys was really cute ...After the show, we were one of the first people out, and right by the door, we saw mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto..so we got right in line and got pics with mickey, minnie, and donald before they had to go back in.
We ate lunch at Pizzafari and we each got a piece of chocolate cake with our meals. While we were at the condiment table, one of the workers (Butch) came over and asked to see our receipt--so we showed him and he asked us to follow him..We had no idea what was going on so we followed him and he led us to a table and then announced to everyone it was our birthday celebration and the entire restaurant clapped--it was embarrasing, but fun! There were really no rides and we decided to go back to the hotel and rest before our dinner reservations.
We went to the Italian restaurant (i cant believe i forgot what its called!) Alex was our waiter and we had a great time--Waiters kept walking by and saying happy birthday to us. Claudio and Giovonne were always walking by..I had never eaten there before and it was awesome--after dinner , they brought out a dessert sampler and sang to us in Italian. After this, we went to watch Illuminations. It was a lot better than i remembered...we just sat around after the fireworks till the crowds thinned out..then headed back to the hotel for sleep.

Saturday October 1
Today we wanted to go do more at EPCOT since we didnt have much time yesterday...We went to get in the singles line for test track since the line was so long and the guy gave us switch the rider passes so we could go right to the front of the line--so that was so nice of him! We got pictures in front of the EPCOT ball--our photographer was hilarious--i think his name was Matthew..we were just talking to him about our birthdays and he was so nice...my friend had never been on Soarin' and i was glad we lucked out and were able to get the first row--i LOVE that ride and it was just as amazing...It started to rain, so we went to downtown disney to do some shopping then took the boat to Port orleans riverside and walked around there for awhile...Then we headed to the Garden Grill in EPCOT and had a pretty good dinner...our waitress was great and brought us out a birthday cake --we had a great time! we watched illuminations again since we were there.
When we were waiting in line for the bus, i saw another DISer, but by the time i saw her mickey head on her bag, we were getting on the bus and i missed her...so close to seeing a DISer! After we got back to the hotel, we walked around POP and just took pictures of everything-We went back to our room and we had a towel animal--i was so excited!
I had a pedometer with us and we thought it would be cool to see how many steps we walked--we walked over 26,000 steps--we were exhausted!!!

Sunday October 2
Today was the first time we got to go to MGM. We had really low crowds so we just walked around and relaxed for a few hours. We got to do all of the rides and shows that we wanted to do, but we kind of took it easy since we knew we would have a late night. We had dinner at mama melrose at 430, which was really good (i was LOVING this dining plan!!) After that, we went back to the hotel to get ready for the halloween party in magic kingdom. We didnt really have costumes. we were just wearing another shirt designed by kate (thank you!!) and our tiaras that we got at the grand floridian dinner. It started raining as soon as we walked onto main street and it was kinda miserable for the first half hour or so of the party. We got our free pictures done and got pictures with the Incredibles and decided to just walk around for a bit...As we started to get more into an energetic mood, i saw something out of the corner of my eye--i looked over and it was snow white and all 7 dwarfs...i yelled for jess and we ran over and got in line (dopey is her favorite!!) the picture turned out awesome on her camera and i cant wait to get my pictures developed. After that, we started having a blast..got pictures with tarzan, tigger, pooh, mickey, minnie, prince charming, cinderella, mad hatter,,,,and more that i cant remember yet! The fireworks were amazing!! they were the best fireworks i had ever seen and i was so glad we decided to go--after t hat, we saw the 10:00 parade which was so cool---The headless horsemen was cool....THe CMs were going crazy trying to keep people off the street as it was getting closer for the horse to come out..and people just kept walking across as the horse was coming down the street.but the parade was fun and we met a lot of fun people just sitting around.
After that, we just walked around and did rides and got pictures with characters and in front of the haunted mansion. the halloween party was soo worth it for us--we werent sure about it, but we are completely glad we did it..we stayed in the park till about 1230 then waited in line forever for the bus and finally got back to the room.

Monday October 3
we were exhausted from staying up so late for the halloween party ,but we were up early since we wanted to go to magic kingdom beffore our flight left--so we got up, checked out, and headed to MK..it was PACKED! we just did a few rides then rode the train around for awhile. We only stayed for a few hours, then headed to POP to have lunch and wait for the magical express bus to get us...then we went home and it was sad!

but all in all, it was a great trip and i cant believe how much fun i had...we got treated like princesses the whole trip with so many people saying happy birthday and things like that...the free dining plan was amazing and completely worth it...I am headed back to disney at the end of november, but thats with family--im sure illh ave fun, but so far this was the best trip i ever took...

Welcome back Jen,
I love the tiaras. You are a WISH princess after all. I am glad that you had a good time.

Get some rest,
Beth

Another disney trip? You're almost in Disney more than I am! :)

But that's ok, because you actually post trip reports and pictures ... whereas me, I shoot hundreds of pictures and almost never post any.

Excellent report, excellent pictures

Your pics from disney photo pass are great! Can you give me some details on how that works? We're going in December and I'd love to use that service. Thanks so much!!

photopass is from the disney photographers that take your picture in front of the castle, and other places around the park....they take your picture, then put them on to a card (it looks like a credit card)..then when you get home, you go to the website and put the numbers from your card in, and all the pictures pop up..you can look at them and buy if you want

Thanks for sharing Jen!

What a great trip report! Did you do a dining report too? I really enjoyed your pics too. I can't wait to try out Photopass in a couple months!

Thanks again!
