Birthday treat bag

Hi.. My daughter is having her birthday party next weekend... I am looking at around 30 kids.. I want to buy some kind of treat to let them leave with... I thought about a pack of gum.. but some kids have braces??? Any suggestions? thanks.

don't worry about it !

I wouldn't worry about giving 9/10 yr old treat bags. They are going to be skating and having fun. I assume you'll probably serve cake and maybe a few snacks. I think that's plenty fine enough

I agree 100%.

(FWIW - I am not a fan of treat bags...and feel they add an extra expense to the parties.)

I don't do treat bags beyond toddler years. Instead I do one small thing to each child that fits in with the theme. You can get packs of inexpensive glow necklaces at the dollar store. They are fun to have on while they skate since it's typically darkened...and they can take them home afterwards. All of our skate parties have included a coupon from the place for them to return, so that with a glow necklace should be just fine. Wow...30 kids! You are brave!!

kids really like treat bags! I think a little bag of candy is just fine. You could buy the dollar store gift, but with 30 kids candy would be cheaper! lol

Those "ice cube" ( i think they are icebreakers) gum packages would fit your theme. maybe even peppermint patties??

My son had a movie party at that age...Beverly Hills Chihuahua....I took brown paper lunch bags and labeled them "doggy bags" and filled with cheap candy and scooby snack cookies. They were a hit!

I wouldn't spend a ton. They are getting too old for that...but a little something is still nice.

I agree with the no treat bag idea.

For us, a birthday is that child's special day, and theirs alone. Others don't need to leave with anything.

It also adds an extra unnecessary expense.

I like the ice cube idea (gum). I think a pack of gum is good enough (and every kid I know with braces chews gum, including my own). Honestly, my kids have collectively attended tons of parties, and always got a "goody." We always give a little something, too.

Kids LOVE getting treat bags!!! And I feel with the exhorbitant amount parents spend on gifts for MY kid it's the very least I can do.

For this party, I would do "Let it Snow" bags, and include Ice Breaker mints, Ice Cube Gum, the blue and white Lindor truffles, and blue and white pens.
Blue lunch bags with a white ribbon and a "Let it Snow" tag.

I concur, it is an added expense, but I believe, appreciated.

Can you make something? Cupcake? Cookie? It's cheap (especially for 30 kids!) and pretty easy.

I always do 1 large (5-7") or 2-3 small (3" or so)sugar(s) cookie in the party theme. The kids love it because it's a little extra "junk food" and the parents like it because there's not a bunch of stuff lying around their house.

If you go with gum, just make sure it is sugar free or it will stick to the braces.

I'm not sure why so many pp are going with the ice theme - when you said it was a skating party, I was thinking roller.

Love the glow stick/necklace idea, but I'm sure the kids would love gum too. Just so they don't leave the abc gum on the rink - roller or ice.

My dd went to a skating party where the favor was a little plastic tub of cotton candy...it was a little more substantial than a pack of gum and not something she would normally have. I have seen them at the dollar store I think-not sure if that fits your budget.
I also like the glow necklace idea!

My daughter's birthday is next weekend, and I found a seller on etsy who does custom candy wrappers for $5. I am going to get a pack of Hersey bars and wrap them. Our theme is a Hawaiian Luau, but I don't think any kid is going to complain if they get a chocolate bar.

However, we've been to three parties in the past month were no goodie bags were given. I don't even think my kid noticed.
