My rule is it's not an REAL invitation until two parents have talked to each other. NOT kids.
At that age, kids invite the entire world to their parties...they have no concept. When dd1 was 6, she invited a policeman visiting her school to her party! He was willing, until I told him it was a Princess theme, and he'd have to wear a dress and have makeup put on!
Stick to the first thing you said...4 kids FROM their class. If E says something, you can gently let her know dd2 was out of line, and her guests have to be from her class. It's that simple.
