Does Disney do anything if someone in your party is having a birthday on the ship? (I know Princess cruises provides balloons, etc.; does Disney do something like that?)

tia :)

We will be celebrating my childrens b-days DD11 and DS12. Disney will give them a b-day cake on your choice of nights. We are doing seperate nights for each kid. Thought it would nice to celebrate them seperate. I told the ressie CM when I made the reservations. They need to know ahead of time to get the cakes on board. Also they sell the b-day decorations for the state rooms also, don't have experience with these.

Two years ago my ds received a pin from the head waiter at dinner ( an exclusive Disney cruise line Birthday pin!!). It was a total suprise to us especially my ds who is an avid pin collector.

Last Nov 30th I WOULD HAVE BEEN celebrating my birthday while on the cruise. This Nov 8th I will actually be onboard ship (it will NOT get sick again) on my birthday (the 13th). Yes, DCL already knows.

imgoingtodisney - I am curious. Why does your tag line below your user name read "the past is behind me - looking forward to the future" (kind of like hakuna matatta), yet this post (and other posts) begins with telling everyone that your cruise was cancelled? Are you really putting the past behind you? Or are you re-living it with every post?

Just curious - it seems contraditory. :)

I just celebrated a birthday on the Jan 9th wonder cruise , i got a cake and a pin and a bunch or waitstaff sang Happy Birthday it was nice and a bit embaresing

We had 4 birthdays in our group and the waitstaff brought cake, and pins for all! My niece who turned 12 said it was the best birthday anyone could EVER have!I think Arron (our waiter) kissing her hand had alot to do with that!!!;)

My DH celebrated his birthday on the ship this year - his actual birthday was debarkation day so we had dinner in Palo the last night, and they brought him a lovely cake. One thing I did notice is that they asked once or twice if it was really his birthday. Our server told me later that they have been having issues with people whose birthdays were weeks or months before wanting the cakes, etc...so they are trying to be more judicious with the celebrations and keeping them to within a week or so of the actual dates. I don't know if they'll succeed, but I can see the point.

Then could you please move forward. What's happened is over done with!!! I think most of us are tired of your whining.

That's interesting. Our last cruise was on Princess and it was 2 days after my dh's 30th birthday. Princess wouldn't consider it a birthday cruise at all since his birthday was before the actual cruise time (you can fill out forms online with Princess and it spit it back at me when I marked we were celebrating a birthday, lol). Not a big deal, but I would have liked the balloons, etc. that they provided each birthday boy and girl, lol. It's nice that Disney will allow some extra time. I agree with Disney though - if your birthday is 2 or 3 weeks beforehand, that's pushing it a bit. :)

Thanks!

My anniversary is the day before we embark and my son's 5th birthday is 2 days after debarkation. I was hoping to celebrate both occasions on the ship. Since we will be traveling on our anniversary, we thought it would be better to just wait a few days and celebrate on the ship. Same for my son, how much more special can it be than getting to celebrate on the cruise.

Does anyone think this will be a problem? We had it noted on our reservation.

I do not think it will be a problem at all. Those dates are sooo close to the events, in fact, the trip sort of spans the gap between them. I think they are looking to prevent really attenuated celebrations.

Our travel agent had made a note on our reservation that my DD would be turning 3 on the cruise and we made it a point to mention it to our server the first night that the next day was her birthday. Well, busy as they all are, they forgot. On the third night, as we were leaving the dining room, the server rushed up and asked about her birthday. We agreed to celebrate it the next (and final) night. They did remember it the last night but did not bring the cake until after we had already eaten our entire meal, including dessert! DD3 poked the cake a couple times but none of us could stomach even a single bite. We felt a bit bad to waste it and they offered to wrap it up but we were getting off the ship the next morning and didn't feel like schlepping it with us.

She did get the really cool exclusive DCL Birthday Pin though!! That made it all worthwhile.

Next time we cruise it will be 2 days after DH's b-day and the day after our anniversary. We had actually wanted to be onboard for those events, but the ship is in drydock the week before :(

DH and I have the same birthDAY. We sailed in October the week before our birthday and did not note it on the reservation. The last night at dinner DH went to our head server to tell her about MY birthday. She told him she already knew. After dinner before dessert they brought out 2 cakes and 2 pins and sang Happy Birthday to both of us! It was really a surprise!

it will always be easy for me to remember your bday SC Minnie!:Pinkbounc

If all goes well in the next few hours, I will be on the March 1st sailing...my Birthday is on the 3rd! I'll be turning 29 again this year....after all the chaos of these last 3 days of booking cabins, plane tickets etc...I selfishly want a really nice present....like, say....George Clooney???!!Ok, Ok, DCL must at least have a lookalike?? And I even think it is on the formal night!!!Forget George, how about Prince Charming, (ONLY Disney magic could make a REAL Prince Charming!HaHa);)

I knew my birthday was on a sea day but it also happens to be our semi-formal night. What a nice relaxing 39+++++++ day
