We're excited to be heading back to Disney for a 10-day trip this January (our first trip since Fall 2003). My 5-year-old daughter will be turning 6 on our first Saturday there and I want to do something special for her birthday.

I've never been at Disney during a special occasion so I'm open to any and all suggestions! I would prefer something where we're doing more than just the standard dining experience...like where I can get a cake and maybe they'll sing to her or something.

And I've read on here that she can get a special pin or ribbon or something to that effect marking her as a "birthday girl" and then staffers will acknowledge her throughout the day. How fun!!!

Yep, you can get one at each park, too. So if her birthday is Monday and you're at Magic Kingdom that day, she can get one there and then on Tuesday when you're at Epcot, she can get another and celebrate her birthday there at that park. It doesn't matter that her birthday is not that exact day.

I don't remember what restaurants have cakes available, but many do. My son got a special red, white, and blue icy drink at Liberty Tree Tavern (for free) because he was wearing his pin. I forgot...at Disney-MGM Studios, in the Prime Time Cafe our "sister Patty" (server) send a birthday card around the restaurant for people to sign for my ds. He also got a free dessert there. That was a lot of fun.

With a little girl that age you might want to check out the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique. My DD will be 6 and she thinks itlooks great from the photos! Also, see if the Pirates and Princess Party at the Magic Kingdom is going on while you are there, that may be another special way to celebrate.

We celebrated DS's 2nd birthday in WDW. Make sure you let the CMs know it is her birthday if you have a TS meal. We went th CP for breakfast and they brought him a cupcake and a card signed by the characters. We also went to CM for dinner and I had ordered a cake there. He also got an autographed placemat for his celebration there. He wouldn't wear his pin, but your DD will probably love the idea. Have fun!

I have celebrated 3 birthdays while at WDW. To get your free birthday pin, you just go into visitor service upon entry into each park. At MK, you go into city hall. At Epcot, I think they just sent me into the giftshop. At DAK, it is immediatly on the left when you enter the park. They will normally ask if you have gotten a birthday phone call, then they will hand her the phone and she will get a greeting from one of the characters. I would book a special princess meal for that day, either at the Castle in MK or Askerhus in Norway in WS if she is into princesses. When booking, mention that it is her birthday and also mention it again when you check into the restaurant. The CM's love to make a big deal about birthday celebrants. She will have a birthday to remember.

My DD celebrated her 5th bday at WDW and it was great! :cool1:
We told the CM at check-in at POR that we were there for her bday, and the next day, she got a card with Mickey and Minnie's pic's in it and their autographs. We got a button at every park (hey, every day was her bday for those 3 days!), although the button at MGM (I think) was the same as MK's, so we skipped it. Our first morning was at MK and we stopped at city hall and the CM gave her the phone and Goofy wished her a happy b-day. We lunched in Norway with the princesses and she got a card signed by all of them and a special dessert (most of her autographs from the princesses also wished her a happy bday). The following night we ate dinner at the Crystal Palace where she again received a special dessert (a cupcake with a candle) and a signed card by Pooh and the gang. Once, when riding the train, the conductor had everyone sing to her. Our last night there we ate at Chef Mickey, where I had pre-ordered a cake. She got a signed placemat (laminated), and each character made a special stop at the table with her for a picture (during their special parade time through the place). FYI: I mentioned to the CM when I made all my ADR's that it was her bday.
My DD had the best time and had a such a smile on her face! :cutie: I hope some of what I shared helps in your planning!:goodvibes

Thanks for all this great input and all these ideas! It's going to be awesome!! :thanks:

We'll be in WDW for my DD12's b-day in about 2 weeks.

I've booked an Illuminations Cruise for that night & I've paid extra to have the boat decorated with a banner, balloons, etc. I'm also having a cake delivered to the boat. Can't wait!!

I would suggest Gifts of A Lifetime if you want to spend a little more money..
we've used it for scavanger hunts and Jane is GREAT...also if you are going to coral reef for a birthday lunch call ahead of time (there are other threads which have the #)...there are scuba divers that dive down about 5 times a day with signs i.e. happy birthday, anivers., graduation (name of the person)....they also will make a custom menu for you, if you send in pictures they will design a paper menu featuring the pictures and it will say happy birthday (daughter's name) from the coral reef...;)

We celebrated my dd6's 3rd bday she had great time. This year we will be celebrating her 7th bday @ CRT I am getting ready to order her the small cake w/ the castle on top we will also be celebrating my and I am getting the cinderella slipper dessert.
