I just emailed ChiTownZee some pix from the birthday cruise last year. There is one of the boat and one of the cake. She is going to post them here for everyone bc I could not figure out how to do it! Sorry I am so lame!
I think I forgot to mention in my last post on this subject that the cake is awesome. There were a bunch of choices, and we picked chocolate mousse/raspberry. It was sinful! And huge! There were 6 of us and it lasted for about 3 days. Also, there are tons of snacks on board, sodas, water, etc... so be sure not to eat dinner beforehand. We had, foolishly, and none of us ate the snacks. Our capt. insisted we take them with us though, since we had paid for them. The boat was decorated to the nines - BIG banner on the side, several dozen balloons, confetti, the works. My step-dad could not believe it was for him, he was floored. And everyone on the dock that night came up and wished him a happy b-day, people were yelling it from other boats, too. It was very special.
Also, I know I saw once before that people wondered about the tipping...I know this is a costly thing to do and going into it, I had intended to tip on the lower side - then we experienced the fabulous service and hospitality of our capt. and ended up tipping him about $50!!!!! He had really gone out of his way to make my step-dad's birthday special (it was his 75th, my mom and he are AP holders, and he is the Disney-holic of the 2 of them). We were the last boat back in the dock that night bc our capt. stretched out the cruise as long as he could.
I sure hope that many of you will get to experience the magic of one of these cruises. IMHO, it's probably more impressive for an adult than a child, and I would do it again to celebrate a landmark b-day.
