A dear friend of mine will be at Disney the same time we are in September, and I would love to surprise her with a special Disney treat. I have looked in to the fireworks cruise, but that is more than what I can spend. She is a huge Alice in Wonderland fan, and I would love to do the tea party, but that is for kids! We are both kids at heart, but I don' think that counts with Disney. Do you have any ideas of what I could do?? Any suggestions are appreciated! :flower3:

you could ahve a special birthday basket sent to her room.
www.disneyflorist.com has some great baskets, or you could anything you dont see custom made.
you could go to coral reef and have special menus with her name made, and have a diver swim by with a sign. dont know how much that would cost.
you can find out where she will be eating one night and have a cake sent to her table.

Take her for high tea at the Grand Floridian! Mention that it's the birthday of a HUGE Alice fan- you never know what might happen. Or take her for breakfast at 1900 Park Fair- I think Alice and the white rabbit are there, aren't they?

I made my sister a tshirt for her 35th bday this past June. I made it on zazzle.com, since they have copyrights to use Disney images. The front said "its my birthday" and the back said "Im 35" It was cute and got her lots of attention...which was great since she hates that sort of attention! Her kids were proud when people would stop to wish her a happy bday. We also got to the Jungle Cruise alone, just our family as a special birthday treat. A CM at our resort saw her shirt, asked our room number, and that night another CM came by the room with balloons and a special card signed by Cinderella!

Oh my goodness! That is great, too! She would LOVE that! I am going to check that out!

Thanks so much!!!

You can also request the card at check in. My husband knew about the cards from this board and asked to have one sent by Donald Duck. It is the cutest thing! Just make sure you don't leave the "Do Not Disturb" in the door as it is brought into your room while your out.

Oh yes, the cards!! We were at CS for DD's 13th birthday, which I mentioned at check-in. They asked DD's favorite characters, and I mentioned Mulan and the Pooh Guys. When returning from the parks on DD's birthday, there was a Pooh b-day card signed by the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore- AND Mulan!! Such excitement from a 13 year old!!

When we were at POFQ on our anniversary, there was a card with 2 balloons delivered mysteriously during the day also. Such excitement from a ??? year old!

WOW! Disney knows how to do things in such a magical way! Thanks for this tip...going to do this for sure!:wizard:

Oh, that is so exciting. I will have to remember that when I plan my trip with my friends. The friend who wants to do this is the friend that we will be celebrating her 60th b-day:)She deserves a big surprise but without the big fan fare:)Thanks for all of the tips..

We're going in October for my wife's Bday.
I ordered a basket from Memories by Betsy that will be delivered to the room while we're out on her B-day
AND
She wanted dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table. I talked to Jamee at CInderella's Royal Table and have a surprise coming during our dinner. I ordered an engraved glass slipper that says "To My Princess" and has her name & date on it. I also ordered the champagne toast & paid for her to keep the flutes.

I think the total for the slipper & the champagne toast was like 80 dollars. The basket was right at 100 dollars but it depends on what you have put in it.

THe trip to DIsneyworld is her birthday present....she has NO idea on the "extras" :rolleyes1
Just an idea for a "Magical" surprise

That is very sweet!! She will love all of that!! Can I find Memories By Betsy on the web?

Thanks!

These are all great ideas. You could start the day with a breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. Alice is usually there at least she used to be. I love the basket idea. I did that for my dh with an eeyore theme and it was great.
If you don't mind skipping the Alice theme you could take her to Coral Reef for lunch or dinner and have a diver surprise her with a birthday sign. The Coral Reef also has customized menus that are fun.

If you order from Disneyflorist.com, they will ship your gift to anywhere in the resort area including theme parks resturants. They have great gift baskets. I used them in Feb for my sister and it was great.

There is no cost for diver/sign/menu at Coral Reef! :thumbsup2 You just have to contact resturant manager ahead of time. Search DIS for Diver and you will see lots of posts/hints on how best to contact/ coordinate. I am having this done for my dd (turning 6) while we are there as a surprise for her. Can't wait!!!!

Also you could search to see if someone with a fireworks cruise would be willing to "share"? I forget where I saw that there is a list of dates and possible matches here on the DIS - you could search that topic too - something like "fireworks cruise share"?
