Birthday balloons upon arrival?

Hi!
Can you still get birthday balloons sent to your room free of charge? I had this done in the past for my daughter's birthday. We will again be at WDW to celebrate her birthday and I wanted to have some balloons for her. Last time we went I contacted the resort, they asked who her favorite character was, and a few balloons and a card with an autographed picture of the character were in our room. This time I contacted the DVC and they replied that I need to call the Disney florist to have this done. Should I contact OKW directly? Anyone done this recently?

This is a hit or miss thing. If you let them know it's your daughter's birthday, they may or may not have balloons waiting in the room later on. Do not call the resort ahead of time. Make sure it is on your reservation.

Even with all this, you might not get anything.

So if you want to be guaranteed a birthday surprise for your daughter, the best way to do that is to contact the Disney Florist and pay for it.

You just have to let the CM know when you check in at your resort. We did this in April and they asked me what her favorite character was - I guess they have cards with different characters on them. Also, when we got back to the hotel the night of her birthday, the balloons still weren't in the room. So, I called the front desk and they said they came by earlier that day to deliver, but didn't go in because I had the "do not disturb" sign on the door (I didn't even realize it was out there!). So they brought them by promptly - which was neat because I told her to answer the door and they handed them right to her. Good luck!

Contact the resort directly. We just did this (in addition to the Disney florist) in July at SSR.

We are staying at SSR and on our reservation it is noted there is a birthday. Will they automatically have balloons in our room on arrival, or do I have to request it and be charged.

It's never guaranteed. If you want to make sure it happens, contact Disney Floral and arrange for something. But you will have to pay for it.

Plus it's not likely that something will be in the room when you arrive because they don't know exactly where you will be until you actually check into that room. They might appear later that day or even the next day.

I have had times where I had it on our reservation, noted it at the front desk when we checked in as well and nothing happened.

We've only gotten birthday balloons once out of 8 years of annual Birthday trips. It's always noted on the reservation, but I've never come right out and asked for balloons at check-in.

Also, note that AKV/AKL does not allow balloons at the resort.
